GEORGE H. VIERKANT
ALBERT LEA, Minn. - George H. Vierkant, 87, of Glenville, Minn., died Friday (June 16, 2000) at Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George Toschak officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, Albert Lea, Minn., and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.
George Henry Vierkant was born on Sept. 8, 1912, in Meservey, the son of Berend and Gazena (Arenholz) Vierkant. He grew up in Iowa and attended Windsor District 2 School.
On Dec. 23, 1935, George was united in marriage to Gladys E. Tostenson, in Hollandale, Minn. They moved to Glenville in 1947. George farmed and was a carpenter, owning and operating Vierkant Construction. He built more than 50 homes in the Glenville area.
He was a very active member of the Glenville United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Glenville Lions Club. He was a Grand Marshall for the Glenville Days Parade in 1999. George enjoyed woodworking, making craft projects, volunteering for senior-ride services, and baseball and football games. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George donated land for a park in the Vierkant First Addition in Glenville.
Survivors include his children, Karnella and her husband, Clarence Schwierjohann, of Glenville, Minn., Marlene and her husband, Maruice Frazier, of Glenville, and Robert and his wife, Nona Vierkant, of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Tamara and her husband, Curtis Wilson, of Minneapolis, Maridee and her husband, Brad Wildeman, of Fairbanks, Alaska., Larry and his wife, Billie Jo Schwierjohann, of New Richland, Minn., Lee Schwierjohann, of St. Paul, Minn., Nancy Frazier, of Albert Lea, Minn., Cindy and her husband, Kurt Peterson, of Albert Lea, Michael and his wife, Connie Frazier, of Albert Lea, Susan and her husband, Richard Lackey, of Alden, Minn., Rob and his wife, Angie Vierkant, of Rochester, Jeff and his wife, Nancy Vierkant, of Dubuque, Michelle and her husband, Tom Sharon, of Ham Lake, Minn., and Monica and her husband, Tron Nasers, of Burnsville, Minn.; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Esk, of Clear Lake, Minn.; brothers, Benny Vierkant, of Jacksonville, Texas, and Henry Vierkant, of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, in 1974; his parents; his brother, Herman Vierkant; and his sisters, Grace Harms and Rosie Christiansen.

MASON CITY - M. Helen Kelsh, 88, of 302 Second St. N.W., died Friday (June 16, 2000) at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Thomas F. McAndrew officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, with a rosary conducted by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church today.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Mary Kelsh Memorial Fund.
Mary, better known as Helen, was born May 24, 1912, the daughter of William A. and Anna Mae (Coyle) Berry, in Mason City. She attended Catholic school and later graduated from Holy Family High School.
On Aug. 1, 1933, Helen was united in marriage to Paul H. Kelsh at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mary made a big splash right from the beginning, being known as the first baby girl born in Park Hospital. She was very musically inclined and spent hours playing the piano. Helen loved gardening and was especially proud of her rock garden. She was a former Red Cross instructor and a nurse at Camp Gaywood for many years.
Helen was a member of St. Gregory Circle, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas' court of Joan of Arc No. 152, and a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Those thankful for having shared in Helen's life include her daughter, Suzann Sniegocki, of Mason City; one son, Charles A. and his wife, Mary Kelsh, of Palatine, Ill.; one brother, Richard "Dick" and his wife, Rita Berry, of Winona, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Milly Berry, of Hampton; eight grandchildren, John and his wife, Kim Kelsh, Jill and her husband, Keith Nicholson, Julie Adami, Steve Sniegocki, Krista and her husband, Todd Roe, Jim Kelsh, Michelle and her husband, Douglas Meyer, and Mike Sniegocki; five great-grandchildren, Elena, Tyler, Taylor, Christopher and Cole; several extended family members and a special family, John Winger and his children, John and his wife, Amy, and Ann.
Mrs. Kelsh was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, in 1978; and one brother, Joe Berry.

MARY JANE NELSON
HUMBOLDT - Mary Jane Nelson, 97, of Mason City, formerly of Humboldt, died Sunday (June 18, 2000) at Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, with the Rev. Clifton Ellerbeck officiating.
There will be no visitation. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Jane Marcellus, the daughter of Jesse and Dorothy (Sauter) Marcellus, was born at Barnes Corner, N. Y., on Nov. 2, 1902. At the age of eight, she moved with her family to Humboldt and attended country schools in Humboldt County.
She married Edward Fox at Humboldt, and they made their home there for 18 years.
After the marriage was dissolved, she moved to Montana, where she was united in marriage to Raymond Nelson. The couple moved to Fort Dodge. Following Mr. Nelson's death in 1961, she continued to live at Fort Dodge until moving to Mason City.
She was a member of the Baptist Church in Mason City, the DAR, Mason City Saddle Club, Eagles Club and the Moose Lodge.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Joan Bartel, of Nora Springs; a son, Edward Fox, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Leona Madritch, of Florida; a brother, Albert Marcellus, of Humboldt; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; brothers, John Meyers, Carl Marcellus and Harold Marcellus; sister, Ada Locke; and great-grandson, Philip Jondall.

BELMOND - Fred J. Lindaman, 90, died Sunday (June 18, 2000) at his home at 611 Fifth St. N.E., Belmond.

IOWA CITY - Kirby Q. Norman, 66, died Saturday (June 17, 2000) at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Onawa. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery
in rural Turin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.
DANIEL 'DALLAS' BUOL
CLEAR LAKE - Daniel "Dallas" Buol, 23, 15386 Bayside Ave., Clear Lake, died Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) in Clear Lake.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Peter Narum officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake.
Memorials may be given to the Daniel "Dallas" Buol Memorial Fund.
Dallas was born June 6, 1977 in Hawarden, the son of Robert L. and Donna J. (Payne) Buol. He started school in Hawarden until they moved to Clear Lake, in December of 1982 and attended Clear Lake Schools graduating in May 1995.
He was active in Boy Scouts with a life rank. Dallas attended NIACC for one year in the pre-engineering programs. He worked at various area businesses including Menards, Graham Mfg. and Winnebago Industries.
Dallas married Kelly A. Bird on May 8, 1999 at the Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. They took their honeymoon trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. They celebrated the birth of their daughter, Kirstin Ann Buol June 11, 2000.
Dallas was a member of Galilean Lutheran Church, and was confirmed May 1991.
Dallas played the trombone. He loved camping and hiking with scouts and with his friend, Chuck, and Chuck's father in the Rocky Mountains.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan all his life and enjoyed NASCAR races, working with electronics and listening to music. Dallas especially enjoyed spending time and grilling steaks with his friends and family.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Kelly Ann Buol, of Clear Lake; one daughter, Kirstin Ann Buol; his parents, Robert and Donna Buol, of Clear Lake; one sister, Maggie J. Buol, of Clear Lake; parents-in-law, Bob and Connie Bird, of Clear Lake; sister-in-law, Jackie Carrington and her son, Dylan Firsching, of Mason City; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Buol, of Hawarden; maternal grandmother, Lillian Payne, of Oswego, Kan.; grandfather-in-law, Clyde Carrington, of Storm Lake; aunts and uncles, Karen and Gary Worrell, of Smithland, Catherine and Rod Mulder, of Ames, Herb and Barbara Payne, of Oswego, Kan., Cathy Haugen, of Clear Lake, and Linda and Robert Anderson, of Clear Lake; and many cousins.
Dallas was preceded by his grandfathers, Raymond Albert Buol and Donald Herbert Payne; grandmothers-in-law, Bernice Carrington and Helen Baker; and two uncles, Danny Ray Buol and Edwin Dallas Payne; and one aunt, Kathleen (Buol) Gideon.

TITONKA - Wilma Pauline Fritz, 88, of Titonka, died Friday (Aug. 11, 2000) at the Titonka Care Center.
