CHARLES CITY - Blanche E. (Mrs. Earl) Tolliver, 89, Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home, and formerly of 1808 Clark St., Charles City, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, with the Rev. Arthur C. Wegner Jr., pastor of Faith Bible Chapel, officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, south of Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to services on Friday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home.

IRMGARD BERKHOLTZ

MASON CITY - Irmgard (Hirv) Berkholtz, 97, of Minneapolis, formerly a resident for 37 years of Mason City, passed away on Sunday (April 1, 2001).

She is survived by sons, Nicholas and Gordon, and their families.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, with interment to follow in Rockford Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 1/2 hour prior to services at the church.

MASON CITY - Orval Isebrand, 83, of Mason City, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center.

MASON CITY - Virginia M. Goodling, 86, of Mason City, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at the USA Healthcare in Mason City.

DOROTHA TEGTMEYER

BRITT - Dorotha "Dottie" Tegtmeyer, 78, of Wesley, died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at her home near Wesley.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Britt, with the Rev. Dr. William Breen, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

There will be no visitation. Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES CITY - Clyde W. Smith, 81, of 3010 230th St., Charles City, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

CHARLES CITY - Goldie O. (Mrs. Elvin) Zielstorf, 94, Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home and formerly of 205 South Iowa Street, died Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

DONALD PAUL HENSEL

ALEXANDER - Donald Paul Hensel, 78, died Tuesday (June 5, 2001).

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Interment will be in Alexander Cemetery with military rites at graveside.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Donald Paul Hensel, the son of Oscar W. and Marie E. (Arends) Hensel, was born Sept. 15, 1921, at Alexander.

He attended and graduated from the Alexander High School. He entered the U. S. Army during World War II and served from 1942 until 1946, including a campaign in northern France at Normandy Beach.

He was united in marriage to Mabryn "Connie" Schaefer at Lake Park on Apri1 21, 1946. They made their home in Oelwein, where Don owned and operated a service station.

In 1948 they moved to Alexander, where they purchased a grocery store. He and his two brothers started an egg, produce and trucking company. Later he became active in farming, but continued to operate the trucking company.

Don loved to spend time at the family cabin on Ten Mile Lake, Minn., and enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time there with his family and friends.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, where he served as deacon and elder.

Don died suddenly at his home in Alexander on Tuesday, June 5, 2001.

Those thankful for sharing his life are his sons, Paul Hensel and his wife, Diane, of Alexander, and Mark Hensel and his wife, Marci, of Monticello, Wis,; grandchildren, Andy, Christie, Lindsey and Allison Hensel; and a brother, Carroll Hensel of Stockton, Ill.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie; and a brother, Ed.

JACK LEE HARTHAN

VENTURA - Jack Lee Harthan, 68, 103 W. Ventura St.,Ventura, died Monday (June 4, 2001) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating.

Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pleasantview Cemetery , Thornton.

Memorials may be given to the Jack Harthan Memorial Fund.

Jack was born Dec. 7, 1932 in Ventura. He was the son of Leland and Evelyn (Miller) Harthan. He attended Ventura schools and graduated from Thornton High School in 1951. After graduation, Jack helped his parents farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1953. He served in E Company12th Infantry Regiment, and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany) and National Defense Service Medal.

Jack married Lorene Nicolet on June 27, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thornton. After leaving the service, Jack and Lorene farmed several years north of Swaledale. In February 1964 they moved to Clear Lake and he worked for the Farmers Co-op in Mason City. Jack worked for Land O' Lakes as a truck driver from 1969 to 1992, when he retired.

Jack was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, where he was very active in his early years. He loved to travel and go to Texas, loved to read and use the computer, enjoyed all the time he could spend with his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his D.O.M. buddies at McDonalds.

Jack is survived by four sons, Tim Harthan and his wife, Cindy, Emmetsburg, Mark Harthan and his wife, Karen, Clear Lake, Matt Harthan and his wife, Deb, Ventura, and Paul Harthan and his wife, Jeanette, Garner; seven grandsons Aaron and Jesse Harthan, Emmetsburg, Ben and Jacob Harthan, Clear Lake, Brandon Harthan, Ventura, and John and Luke Harthan, Garner; two sisters Joan Collins and her husband, Duane, Clear Lake and Janice Harthan-Kerdus and her husband, Bob, Clear Lake; one brother Jerry Harthan and his wife, Carmella, Clear Lake; a special friend, Joan Strong, Goodrich, Texas, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorene, and one infant son, David.
