HAZELLE P. TAGESEN

MASON CITY - Hazelle P. Tagesen, 90, of 501 S. Kentucky Ave., died Tuesday (July 31, 2001) at the Heritage Care Center.

Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City, is in charge of arrangements, (641) 423-0924.

OLENA HEGGEN

RENWICK - Olena Heggen, 94, of Renwick, died Saturday (July 28, 2001) at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Lake Lutheran Church in rural Goldfield, with the Rev. Sandy Krynik officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour before services on Thursday at the church.

Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Renwick is in charge of arrangements, (515) 824-3465.

ERMA WOODLEY

ALLISON - Erma Irene Woodley, 93, of Allison, died Monday (July 30, 2001) at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Bristow United Church of Christ in Bristow, with the Rev. Sam Benjamin and Glenn Bandel officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery , rural Bristow.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services on Friday at the church.

CARL F. HAUSER

CHARLES CITY - Carl F. Hauser, 89, of 204 Glenwood Road, died Tuesday (July 31, 2001) at his home.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Charles City, with Sister Jennifer Rausch, PBVM, pastoral associate of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Rev. Gale Richards, pastor of the Colwell United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, and continue one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the First Congregataional Church, the Hospice of North Iowa, Charles City site, or the YMCA.

HELEN C. TRICKLE

MASON CITY - Helen C. Trickle, 94, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W. in Mason City, with the Rev. Sarah Odoom officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour before services on Thursday at the church.

Helen Trickle was born Oct. 29, 1906, at Wells, Kan., a daughter of Axel and Caroline (Olson) Vesterberg. She attended schools in Wells, Kan. and business college in Salina, Kan.

She was married to Roy Trickle on March 19, 1930, at Luray, Kan. The family moved to Mason City in March 1938. She worked for Mason City Tent & Awning for many years and later worked at Monroe Junior High School until her retirement in 1984.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and active in church circles.

Survivors include two daughters, Esther Helen Hanson, of Mountain Home, Ark., and Mary Katheryn Ferleman and her husband, Tom, of Albert Lea, Minn.; four grandchildren, Gary Hanson and his wife, Alyce, of Albert Lea, Minn., Larry Hanson and his wife, Kathie, of Albert Lea, Minn., Sheila Thomas and her husband, Greg, of Albert Lea, Minn., and Tom Ferleman and his wife, Rebecca, of Gaithersburg, Md.; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Brittany, Derek, Stacie, Grace, Riana and Andrew; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, one brother and one son-in-law.

VIONA ALVINA WELHOUSEN

TITONKA - The funeral for Viona Alvina Welhousen, 81, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka, with Pastor Jim Berka officiating. Interment will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Titonka.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Titonka.

Viona Alvina Welhousen was born on July 28, 1920, in Titonka, the daughter of Evert and Anna Kettwich Post. She received her education at a country school in the Titonka area. After her schooling she lived at home on the farm with her parents.

On Sept. 5, 1951, Viona was united in marriage to Wilbur Welhousen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka. After their marriage the couple lived on a farm northwest of Titonka, where they lived until Wilbur died on June 6, 1965.

Viona and her daughter, Beverly, moved into Titonka. Viona worked in the dietary department of the Titonka School and the Titonka Care Center.

She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, as well as being in her home sewing and baking.

Viona was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka.

Viona died on Saturday (July 28, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City at the age of 81.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly and her husband, Les Trampel, of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Bret and Alyssa Ennen, of Clear Lake; brothers, Melvin Post and his wife, Berneice, of Algona, Art Post and his wife, Marvella, of Titonka, Erwin Post and his wife, Troyce, of Titonka; and a sister, Berneice and her husband, DeWayne Maass, of Lakota; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Wilbur.

PAUL NATHANIEL JENN

BRITT - Paul Nathaniel Jenn, 25, of West Branch, formerly of Britt, died Saturday (July 28, 2001) as a result of a motor vehicle accident north of Ventura.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the West Hancock High School in Britt, with Pastor Brooks Simpson and Pastor Chuck Walton officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Friends may greet the family from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt, and one hour before services at the high school.

Paul, the son of John and Lucinda (Hagedorn) Jenn, was born July 11, 1976, in Sac City. The Jenn family later moved to Britt, where Paul attended the Britt grade school and graduated from West Hancock High School in 1995. Paul attended Iowa Central Community College and then transferred to the University of Iowa.

Paul was united in marriage with Angela Abels on Aug. 1, 1998, in Kanawha. The couple lived in the Iowa City area, while Paul attended the University of Iowa. He wrestled for the Hawkeyes from 1997-2000 and placed fourth at the Big 10 meet as a junior and sixth as a sophomore.

Paul graduated from the University of Iowa in May of 2000, and received his teaching certification in May of 2001. He was to have taught physics at Mason City High School in the fall of 2001.

In 1984 Paul became a born-again Christian by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He worked extensively with wrestling camps and spoke to youth groups sharing his Christian testimony. Paul was a very caring young man who continued giving of himself as a tissue donor following his death.

Paul is survived by his wife, Angela, of West Branch; his parents, John Jenn of Britt, and Lucinda McClellan and her husband, Clifford, of Temple, Texas; one brother, Stephen Jenn and his children, Jeff, Brady and Cheree Jenn of Garner; two sisters, Laurel Thomas and her husband, Jon, of Manassas, Va., and Kristin Jenn of Britt.

EVELYN B. BEARD

MOLINE, Ill. - Evelyn B. Beard, 84, of Moline, Ill., died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at her residence.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Trimble Funeral Home in Moline. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

The former Evelyn Bessie Day was born May 22, 1917, in Charles City, the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Dodd) Day. She married Harry L. Beard on April 12, 1936, in Mason City. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1997.

Evelyn was a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Moline for 20 years before retiring in 1979.

She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Nora Springs, I and I Treasure Club, the Moline Conservation Club, Isaak Walton League and the Giant Goose Conservation Club. Evelyn also enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Jean Beard, of Chama, N.M.; a sister, Carline Billick, of Mason City; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Carroll and Harley Day; and a sister, Clarabell Day.
