WAYNE E. OUSTAD

AITKIN, Minn. - Wayne E. Oustad, 54, of Aitkin, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2001) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with the Rev. Lance Isaacson officiating. Burial will be in the Bennettville Cemetery , with military honors conducted by the Aitkin American Legion and VFW.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Steece, Nick Dinger, Bill Turner, Mike Maxwell, Craig Speed, George Straight, Don Cordie and Lynn Ellingston.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to services on Monday.

He was born May 29, 1947, at Kanawha, the son of Oscar and Mildred (Fuller) Oustad. He grew up and attended schools in Kanawha and graduated from the Kanawha High School in 1964.

He joined the National Guard and his unit was activated during the Vietnam War.

He lived and worked in Kanawha, farming and working as an auto mechanic at a G.M. dealership.

He married Cheryl Steenhard in 1974 and they lived in Belmond, where he still farmed and worked as a mechanic.

He had been coming to the Aitkin area most of his life and moved to Aitkin in 1987 where he owned and operated Wayne's Auto Service.

He was a member of Aitkin Moose Lodge 1060 and the Aitkin American Legion.

He enjoyed fishing and racing stock cars.

He is survived by his significant other, Jeanne Monse of Aitkin, Minn.; one son, Rick Robertson, of St. Martin, Minn.; five daughters, Mona Green of Garland, Texas, Michelle Oustad of Blue Springs, Mo., Rachelle Robertson of South Haven, Mich., Nikki Brinkman of Webster City and Wendy Stimac, of Crosby, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Cheryl, in 1989.

JAMES CAVETT

LAKE MILLS - James "Jim" Cavett, 37, of Lake Mills, died Thursday (Oct. 18, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. Roger Dykstra and the Rev. Kevin Mackey officiating. Burial will be at Salem Memorial Cemetery , Lake Mills.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

RALPH VICTOR STALZER

ALGONA - Ralph Victor Stalzer, 74, of Algona, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2001) at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Algona.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6 p.m. and a vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m.

SCOTT C. MEYER

OSAGE - Scott Christopher Meyer, 32, of the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Osage, died Thursday (Oct. 18, 2001) at Saint Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nev.

CHARLES CITY - Zora Pieper, 89, formerly of 910 13th St., died Friday (Oct. 19, 2001) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

ARTHUR L. LEVANG

DES MOINES - Arthur L. Levang, 80, of 2921 Kendallwood Circle, died Thursday (Oct. 18, 2001) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Westchester Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Elim Lutheran Cemetery near Fertile.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Visitation also will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City.

Memorials may be given to Lutheran Brethren Schools in his memory.

EVERETT R. BEISEL

MASON CITY - Everett R. Beisel, 79, of Mason City, died on Sunday (Dec. 9, 2001) at Good Shepherd Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Samuel Hamilton-Poore of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , with military rites conducted by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and continuing until the time of services on Friday.

Memorials may be given to the Everett R. Beisel Memorial Fund.

Everett R. Beisel was born April 9, 1922, in Mason City, the son of Reinhard and Alvena (Marquardt) Beisel. He attended Mason City schools.

Following school he entered the United States Army, serving his country during World War II.

Following his discharge from the Army, he married Neva A. Higley. They were united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1947, in Mason City. They moved to Zumbrota, Minn., in 1955, where he farmed. They returned to Mason City in 1959.

He was a carpenter and a draftsman, working for Davey and Moen and the Mason City School System. He retired in 1970.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW. He enjoyed wood crafting and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Gloria J. Warren and husband, John, of Shafter, Calif.; grandson, Samuel E. Katter and wife, Nicole, of Garner; sister, Betty Bratrud, of Kensett; brother, Harold Beisel, of Tomball, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Mark Everett and Howard Mark, and son-in-law, Arthur H. Katter.

LOUISE J. ASHLAND

CLEAR LAKE - Louise J. Ashland, 88, of the I.O.O.F. Home, formerly of Clear Lake, died Tuesday (Dec. 11, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Interment will follow at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church and continue until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Zion Lutheran Church, the I.O.O.F. Home or Hospice of North Iowa.

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge of the arrangements.

Louise was born April 16, 1913, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of William and Logina (Meiners) Reth.

She was united in marriage to Ed Ashland on June 5, 1938, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. They lived on a farm near Clear Lake, where Louise was a homemaker who also worked for 14 years as a cook for several restaurants and businesses in Mason City and Clear Lake.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, quilting,embroidery and other handiwork. Louise moved from the farm to the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City in 1995.

She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, a member of the WLAM Club in Clear Lake and a 4-H leader in Cerro Gordo County.

Louise is survived by five children, Alice Rasmussen and her husband, Ken, of Des Moines, Richard Ashland and his wife, Susan, of Fridley, Minn., Melvin Ashland and his wife, Brooke, of Medford, Ore., Roger Ashland and his wife, Cynthia, of Waseca, Minn., and Allan Ashland and his wife, Nancy, of Clear Lake; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters; five brothers, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister.
