MICHELLE JANSON SINNOTT

CEDAR RAPIDS - Michelle Janson Sinnott, 25, of 4233 Sunland Court S.E. in Cedar Rapids, died Saturday (Jan. 5, 2002) in her home after a short illness.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Daniel Kolander officiating. Burial was Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

Survivors include her parents, Dalene and Michael Sinnott; two brothers, Michael Hayes Sinnott Jr. and Matthew Braden Sinnott; and her fiance, Michael Vasquez, all of Cedar Rapids; her grandparents, Bob and Charlotte Sinnott, of Mason City and Irene Braden, of West Des Moines; an aunt, Becki Braden, of West Des Moines; two uncles, Danny Sinnott, of Reno, Nev., and Bill (Shirley) Sinnott, of Waterloo; cousins, Mark, Megan and Melissa; and the family Dalmatian, Carrie.

She was preceded in death by two great-grandmothers, Myrtle Sinnott and Berthilda Janson.

Born Nov. 1, 1976, in Cedar Rapids to Michael and Dalene Sinnott, Michelle was a graduate of Washington High School and was pursuing her career at Kirkwood and Mount Mercy College for a degree in special education. She was a teacher associate at Kennedy in the behavioral disabilities classroom. She also worked at Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

The Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids was in charge of arrangements.

LYLE 'BUD' FRASER

BURT - Lyle "Bud" Fraser, 83, of Burt, died Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2002) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burt, with the Rev. Jonathan C. Watt officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Algona.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona, (515) 295-3731.

ALICE A. FRASER

BURT - Alice A. Fraser, 79, of Burt, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

LEONE L. CELONI

ALGONA - Leone L. Celoni, 89, of Algona, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at Good Samaritan Center in Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona, with Father Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Algona.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church.

MARVEL JIMENEZ

MASON CITY - Marvel Jimenez, 79, of 1033 19th St. S.W., Apt. 27, died Thursday (Feb. 7, 2002) at USA Healthcare in Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City, (641) 423-8676.

E. LUCILE 'LUCY' RANSOM

VENTURA - E. Lucile "Lucy" Ransom, of Ventura, died Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2002) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura, with the Rev. Daird Korth officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, and one hour before services on Monday at the church.

Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Lucy was born April 19, 1921, in Greencastle, Mo., the daughter of Benjamin V. and Oval C. (Scobee) Harriott. She received schooling in Mason City. Lucy married Donald E. Ransom in Fort Des Moines, on March 26, 1939.

Lucy was a dental assistant for Dr. Tom Joslyn for 14 years.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura, sang in the church choir for 38 years, was a member of Rebecca's Circle and did missionary quilting at the church.

She enjoyed blue grass "pickers" music and was a member of Kinfolks, which entertains at nursing homes and festivals.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Don Ransom, of Ventura; one daughter, Donita Sue Wood and her husband, Donald Keith, of Pinetop, Ariz.; two grandsons, Mark Wood and his wife, Christy, Mesa, Ariz., and Jeffrey Wood, of Lakeside, Ariz.; three great-grandsons, Mark Kelly, Andrew Quinn and Aaron Christopher Wood; three sisters, Gwen Schaer, of Mason City, Karen Vaage, of Mason City, and Linda Zimmerman, of Mason City; two brothers, Keith Harriott, of Lakeland, Fla., and Ora Clarence Stossivich, of Mason City.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maxine, Loraine and Lois; and two brothers, Robert and Forest.

GLENN H. SPERRY

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Glenn H. Sperry, 84, of Bonita Springs, Fla., died Sunday Jan. 20, 2002, of pneumonia.

He was born in Truman, Minn., on Oct. 15, 1917, to Ralph and Sadie Sperry, now deceased. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1935.

He was employed by the Northry Aircraft Co. in California until 1942, when he joined Trans World Airlines as a flight engineer until 1977.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Joy; children, Kirk, Karol, John and their families; brother, Glade F. Sperry, of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Donna S. Hamm, of Rochester, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Bonita Springs, Fla.

MARIE NORA ABRAMS

NORTHWOOD - Marie Nora Abrams, 86, of 1122 Highway 105, Northwood, died Thursday (Feb. 7, 2002) at her home.

A funeral mass will be held on at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, with the Rev. David Kucera officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring St. in Manly, with a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m.

Marie was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Brooks, Minn., the daughter of Frederic and Margaret (Neid) Berberich. She grew up in northern Minnesota and worked as a caretaker in family's homes in both Minneapolis and Mason City.

Marie was united in marriage to Donald Abrams on May 10, 1938, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City. They moved to rural Northwood in 1940, where Donald farmed and Marie was a homemaker.

In 1960, she began more than 20 years of employment at Fleetguard in Lake Mills. Marie later babysat for families and cared for the elderly in their homes until her retirement last August.

She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly and a member of the St. Mary's Guild.

Marie enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling, cooking and entertaining.

Left to cherish her memory are one son, Kenneth Abrams, of Northwood; two daughters, Judy Davis and her husband, Steve, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Jane Schroeder and her husband, Jim, of Dubuque; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Berberich and his wife, Del, of Brooks, Minn.; two sisters, Phyllis Grinsteiner and her husband, Gene, of Bismarck, N.D., and Dorothy Lessard of Hillsboro, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, in December 1998; one son, Robert Abrams, who died in October 1998; a grandson, Jeffery Abrams; two granddaughters, Katherine Abrams, who died in infancy, and Deborah Abrams; one daughter-in-law, Betty Abrams, who died in 1998; one sister, and several brothers.

Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood is in charge of the arrangements, (641) 324-1543.

ELVA ENSTROM PRICE

AUSTIN, Texas - Elva Cornelia Enstrom Price, 83, a resident of Mason City during the 1950s, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Boston while visiting her daughters. She had lived in Austin, Texas, for the past 40 years.

Mrs. Price was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Bovey, Minn., to Eric and Esther Enstrom, pioneering residents of the small iron mining town. Her father, Eric Enstrom, was a photographer whose 1918 picture "Grace" is recognized around the world.

Married for 57 years to the late Stephen G. Price, Mrs. Price was active in the community during her Mason City years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School; a Girl Scout and Brownie leader with her good friend Jo Wagner; a member of the Wilson Elementary and Monroe Junior High School PTAs; and a member, with her husband, of the Euchre & Cycle Club.

While residents of Mason City, Elva and Steve built a cabin on a lake near her birthplace, where they spent summers for 50 years. Her sisters and brothers also had nearby lake homes, creating annual summer-long family reunions.

In Austin, she was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Austin, where she worked weekly at the church food pantry, was a member of its Women's Circle Association and used her sewing talents to help make clothing for children in need. Mrs. Price also loved her work as a teacher's assistant at the Winn School Prekindergarten Program, where she was a volunteer until last year.

She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Price Murphy, of Boston, and Pamela Price Botts of Natick, Mass.; two sisters, Rhoda Nyberg, of Coleraine, Minn. and Lois Berendts, of Duluth, Minn.; a brother, Warren Enstrom, of Dallas; three grandchildren, Meaghan Murphy, of Los Angeles, Thomas Price Botts, of San Francisco, and Stephen Enstrom Botts, of Vail, Colo.; and 13 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Feb. 2, at First Presbyterian Church in Austin.

A second service will be held this summer in Minnesota when her ashes are buried in Coleraine Cemetery.

Gifts in her memory may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2042 Beacon St., Newton, MA 02468; the Food Pantry Program, First Presbyterian Church in Austin, 8001 Mesa Drive, Austin, TX 78731; or the Winn School Prekindergarten Program, 3500 Susquehanna Lane, Austin, TX 78723.
