EDNA M. SZYMECZEK

ROSENBERG, Texas - Edna Mae Szymeczek, 76, of Rosenberg, Texas, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Saturday (May 11, 2002) in Richmond, Texas.

Memorial services were held on May 15, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rosenberg, Texas, with the Rev. Wayne Schueler officiating.

Inurment will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City, with the Rev. Daird Korth officiating.

Friends may gather to greet the family at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City, following the inurnment.

Edna Mae Spencer was born Nov. 25, 1925, in San Benito, Texas and received her education in Rockport, Texas.

On Oct. 3, 1944, she married George Michael Szymeczek in Rockport, Texas. While living in Mason City, Edna was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She worked for United Home Bank for 20 years and continued her banking career after moving to Texas in 1976 until retiring in 1992.

Edna enjoyed traveling, cooking, painting ceramics and time with her family.

Edna is survived by her husband, George Szymeczek, Rosenberg, Texas; and three children, Georgia Luker and her husband, Rohn, of Mason City, Vicki Humburg and her husband, Dale, of Columbia, Mo., and George Szymeczek II and his wife, Kelly, of Missouri City, Texas; grandchildren, Wendy Luker, Daren Luker and his wife, Pam, Carrie Humburg, Lacy Humburg, Lacy Humburg and Taylor Szymeczek; great-grandchildren, Sterling Cage and Hailey Luker; brothers, Lowery Spencer Jr., Roy Spencer and his wife, Martha, Herman Spencer, and James Spencer.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Lowery and Lottie Spencer; and two sisters.

MARIEN M. AMERSON

WEBSTER CITY - Marien M. Amerson, 71, formerly of Renwick, died Monday (June 3, 2002) at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Renwick with the Rev. Karen Dearchs, officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Township Cemetery in rural Hardy.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

SYLVIA IVERSON

LAKE MILLS - Funeral services for Sylvia Iverson, 82, of Lake Mills, will be held at 2 p.m. today at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills, with the Rev. Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be at North Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Monday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to services today at the church.

Sylvia Elvina Iverson, daughter of Oliver and Ella (Holtan) Gudmonson, was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Winnebago County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Winnebago Lutheran Church. She attended rural schools and graduated from Leland High School in 1938.

Sylvia married Maynard Iverson on Feb. 4, 1956, at North Prairie Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being a wife and mother. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and baking.

She was an active member of the North Prairie Lutheran Church. Over the years she made many quilts and layettes for Lutheran World Relief. She was also a 4-H leader for the Newton Neighbors 4-H Club. Sylvia was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

Sylvia and Maynard farmed in rural Leland until 1988. They continued to live on the farm until moving to Lake Mills in July of 2000. Sylvia entered the Lake Mills Care Center in July, 2000. Sylvia passed away at the Care Center on Saturday (June 1, 2002) at the Care Center.

She is survived by her husband, Maynard, of Lake Mills; her daughter Marsha and son-in-law, Blair Hansen, of Des Moines; one brother, Vernon Gudmonson and his wife, Betty, of Lake Mills; one sister-in-law, Ethel Gudmonson, of Forest City; and several nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kay; and one brother, Marlyn.

ENGLE FEKKERS

BELMOND - Engle Fekkers, 90, of Belmond, passed away Sunday (June 2, 2002,) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services for Engle Fekkers will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond, with Pastor Herm Gruis officiating. Burial will take place in the Immanuel Reformed Church Cemetery near Belmond.

Visitation for Engle Fekkers will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick Lane S., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Engle, the son of Henry and Gertrude (Gerdes) Fekkers, was born Sept. 9, 1911, in Franklin County. He attended country schools. Engle began working as a farmhand at the age of sixteen.

On Jan. 11, 1936, he was united in marriage to Reka Pals at the Meservey parsonage with Rev. Kampman officiating. The couple made their home on the farm near Meservey until 1963 when they moved to Belmond.

After moving to Belmond, Engle kept busy by helping his son, Roger, farm. He also had a lawn mowing service. Engle loved to mow, enjoyed fishing, and watching Westerns on television.

Engle was a member of the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond.

Engle is survived by his son, Roger Fekkers and his wife, Janice, of Belmond; six grandchildren, Jody Knight and her husband, Jess, of California; Jenee Sprau and her husband, Scott, of Meservey, Brett Lage and his wife, Sue, of Meservey, Kim Stromer and her husband, Dave, of Garner; Tiffany Smith and her husband, Gary, of Urbandale; Todd Fekkers and his wife, Jeri, of Meservey; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Timm, of Sheffield.

Engle is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reka; two daughters, Gladys and Gloria; triplet great-grandchildren, Alex, Beau, and Courtney Smith; seven sisters; and two brothers.

DANNY DEAN WHITE

WATERLOO - Danny Dean White, 46, 3155 Hammond Ave., of Waterloo, died Sunday (June 2, 2002).

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Ward-Ward at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Jerry Miller of the First Church of Open Bible, officiating. Interment will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery . Military honors will be provided by the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Memorials may be given in Danny White's name to the First Church of Open Bible, 928 Jefferson St. Waterloo, IA 50702.

CLYDE M. SHULTZ

CHARLES CITY - Clyde M. Shultz, 72, 1011 Hildreth St., died Monday (June 3, 2002) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital-Hospice Unit.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 601 Milwaukee St., with Pastor Dianne Christopher officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or Trinity United Methodist Church.

BONNIE FERN HANSEN

MANLY - Bonnie Fern Hansen, 100, of Orlando, Fla. formerly of Manly, died Oct. 29, 2001, in Orlando.

A committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Manly, with the Rev. David Kucera officiating.

CLEAR LAKE - Vivian E. Walls, formerly of Clear Lake, died Sunday (June 2, 2002) at I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

ETHEL MAE KRUEGER

CHARLES CITY - Ethel Mae Krueger, 94, died Saturday (March 13, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Hauser Funeral Home.

RUSSEL DALE (RUSSY) SCHULTZ

KENSETT - Russel Dale (Russy) Schultz, 70, of 3983 Thrush Ave., died Friday (March 12, 1999) at the Manly Care Center, Manly.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton. The Rev. Ernest Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Bride Colonial Chapel in Manly.

The family suggests memorials may be given in his name.

Russel was born June 13, 1928, in Union Township, Worth County, the son of Clarence William and Amelia (Walk) Schultz. He attended country school at Worth County Union Number 3 and graduated with honors from eighth grade. He then went on to graduate from Grafton High School in 1946. Following school, he went into farming with his father and entered into a farming partnership with his brother, Dale, in 1962.

Russel enjoyed farming and in his spare time he liked to fish, travel and spend time with his nieces and nephews.

He was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Grafton, where he was baptized and confirmed.

He is survived by two brothers, Allen and Dale Schultz, both of Kensett; a sister, Doris Davis and her husband, Bob, of Nashua; a brother-in-law, Richard Sletten of Lake Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Arlene Sletten; and an infant brother, Lowell Schultz.
