MARTHA "MARTIE" MAE KEMMERER

CLEAR LAKE - Martha "Martie" Mae Kemmerer, 73, died Saturday (April 3, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, April 6, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

Memorial services and celebration of her life will be at a later date.

Martha "Martie" Kemmerer was born on Dec. 12, 1925, in Boone, the daughter of Alvin and Henretta (Upton) Erickson. She received her education in the Boone school system, graduating from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Boone. After completing her education, she worked for several years for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator in Boone.

She was united in marriage to William Dean Kemmerer on April 14, 1952, in Boone. After their marriage they moved to Clear Lake where she continued to work for several years as a telephone operator for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Mason City. On Nov. 12, 1960, together they purchased Witkes Marine in Clear Lake which they operated for six years as Kemmerer Marine and then owned and operated Kemmerer Marine on Highway. 18.

She enjoyed traveling and helping family and friends, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Clear Lake.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Dean Kemmerer of Clear Lake; two sons, Mark Kemmerer and his wife, Linda, of Clear Lake, and Kurtis Kemmerer and his wife, Suzanne, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Nichole and Christopher Kemmerer, both of Clear Lake; two sisters, Grace Wilhite and her husband, Don, of Moingona and Karen Peterson and her husband, Pete, of Ogden; one brother, Garreth "Bud" Erickson and his wife, Delores, of Denver, Colo.; and other relatives and many friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia Davis.

JENNIFER MARIE CRAIGHTON

ROCKWELL - Jennifer Marie Craighton, 20, died Saturday (April 3, 1999) in rural Hampton, Iowa, as a result of an auto accident.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Hampton with Pastor David Nelson and Pastor Alan Sheldon officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

Jennifer Marie Craighton was born Sept. 8, 1978, in Britt, Iowa, to Larry Craighton and Deborah Waddell. She was raised in Rockwell and attended Rockwell/Swaledale High School, North Iowa Area Community College and Illinois State University.

Jennifer was a very active member of the Church of Christ in Hampton and Mason City. While attending Rockwell/Swaledale High School, she was a high school cheerleader, a member of the National Honors Society and Who's Who Club. She received the North Iowa Area Community College Hall of Fame Award, belonged to College Who's Who Club, and was a member of the Logos newspaper at NIACC in Advertisement Management. While attending Illinois State University, she was a member and leader of inter- varsity activities, a member of Deaf Club, worked in College Day Care, and participated in Summer Games at Illinois State and Methodist Church Camp. She was active in gymnastics and was certified as a judge at Illinois State.

She is survived by her parents, Larry and Deb Craighton, Rockwell; two brothers, Jason Craighton, Coulter, and Jeremy Craighton, Rockwell; maternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Lyle Waddell, Hampton, and paternal grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Rex Craighton, Hampton.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal great-grandparents.

WILLARD BRANDT

LATIMER - Willard Brandt, 69, died Monday (April 5, 1999) at his home in Latimer.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Willim Funeral Home, Latimer.

KARL E. NANNENGA

OSAGE - Karl E. Nannenga, 55, passed away Sunday (April 4, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Karl was born on Oct. 26, 1943, at Klemme, Iowa, the son of Jacob (Jake) and Bernice (Ball) Nannenga. Karl received his education in the Klemme and Clear Lake school systems. He farmed with his parents at Clear Lake prior to his induction into the U. S. Army (1966-68), where he served with the U. S. Army 82nd Engineer Corps in Vietnam during the TET offensive. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to farm with his parents at Clear Lake and later at Osage.

On Dec. 28, 1972, he was united in marriage to Mary Brewer at the Faith United Church of Christ, Tripoli, Iowa. To this union, Jacqueline Kay was born on June 3, 1974.

Karl enjoyed reading and, with his many friends, hunting and fishing. After farming for approximately 20 years, he pursued a trucking career.

He was a former member of the Mitchell County Dairy Association. He was a member of the Osage American Legion Post No. 278 and the Osage V.F.W. Post No. 7920.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the family's church of membership, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 830 Ash St., Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery , Little Cedar, Iowa, with military rites at the grave by the Osage V.F.W. Post No.7920 and the Osage American Legion Post No. 278.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. today with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage. Visitation will resume one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church.

Karl is survived by his wife, Mary Nannenga of Osage; daughter, Jacqueline, her husband, Mark Hawley, and expected child, of Gilbert, Iowa; his mother, Bernice I. Nannenga of Mason City; one sister Marie L. Nannenga of Mason City; and one brother, Chris(t) Nannenga, his wife, Leila, and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Clear Lake/Thorton area. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob (Jake) Nannenga.

IRA HARPER

DUMONT - Ira Harper, 74, of Dumont, died Monday (April 5, 1999) at the Dumont Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are incomplete at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

LOUIS J. BALLOU

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Louis J. Ballou, 53, of Pinellas Park, Fla., died March 28, 1999, at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines, Fla.

The body was cremated. Taylor Family Funeral Home, Pinellas Park, was in charge of arrangements.

KATHRYN E. HANNON

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Kathryn E. (Springer) Hannon, 73, of Pinellas Park, Fla., formerly of Mason City, died March 26, 1999, at home.

The body was cremated. A memorial service was held March 28, in Pinellas Park.

Taylor Family Funeral Home, Pinellas Park, was in charge of arrangements.

JUDY WITHERS DANIELS

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Judy Withers Daniels, 59, of 241 Seford, San Antonio, Texas, 78209, formerly of Mason City, died Monday (April 5, 1999) in San Antonio.

Funeral services will be held at 12:15 p.m. Friday at the St. Mathews United Methodist Church, 2738 Bitters Rd, San Antonio, with the Rev. Jim Hime officiating. Burial will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery , San Antonio.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy., San Antonio, Texas 78218.

ANDREW KRAMER

ALGONA - Andrew "Andy" Kramer, 75, of Algona, died Friday (April 2, 1999) at Longmont, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery , Algona, with military graveside rites conducted by Hagg-Turner Post No. 90, American Legion and V.F.W. Post No. 2541.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a 3 p.m. parish rosary, and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.

LATIMER - Willard L. Brandt, 69, of Latimer, died Monday (April 5, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will be at the Marion Center Cemetery , with military honors.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Willim Funeral Home, Latimer.

JOHNNIE BRUNS

DUMONT - Johnnie Bruns, 82, of Dumont, died Tuesday (April 6, 1999) at the Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dumont Reformed Church, with the Rev. Carl Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Reformed Church Cemetery , rural Ackley.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont.
