DES MOINES - Helen Thorpe Mularz, 78, formerly of Mason City and Melcher, died Monday (July 19, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Melcher-Dallas.
Visitation will begin after 12 noon today at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home, Melcher-Dallas, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Vigil service at 7 p.m. today at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home.
FRANK E. 'JIM' LOOMER
GREENE - Frank E. "Jim" Loomer, 78, of 210 S. Third St., died Sunday (July 18, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, with Pastor Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , with military rites by the Tack-Barnett Post No. 268 American Legion, of Greene.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with an 8 p.m. public scripture service, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

DONALD R. NASER
BRITT - Donald R. Naser, 94, passed away Saturday (July 17, 1999) at the Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, in Britt, with the Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery , in Britt.
Friends may greet the family one hour prior to services on Friday at the Funeral Chapel.
Donald Ralph Naser was born on Aug. 23, 1904, in rural Hancock County, Iowa, and spent his school years in Britt, where he graduated from high school.
After graduation, he traveled extensively and worked in such diverse areas as Des Moines, Iowa, Phoenix, Ariz. and Los Angeles, Calif. He returned to the Midwest after a few years and ran a plumbing shop in Garner, Iowa. He also bought and renovated the hotel in Britt, during this same period.
Donald spent the bulk of his working life in Tacoma, Wash., where he worked as a plumber in addition to owning and operating a raspberry farm.
He retired circa 1979 and moved to Orange City, Fla., and began to pursue his true passion - golf. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and shot his age on several occasions as a member of the Men's Club at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in DeBary, Fla. Despite spirited denials, rumors still persist that more than a few friendly wagers may have transpired during Don's tenure at Glen Abbey.
Donald was preceded in death by two wives, Frances and Winson; three sisters, Vivian Mace and Vira and Vida Naser; and two brothers, Cecil and Clifford Naser.
He is survived by his son, James Naser, of Davenport, Iowa; stepdaughters, Donna Huff, of Waterloo, and Marylin Barnett, of Ward Cove, Alaska; and sisters, Dorothy Shelton and her husband, Dale, of Orange City and Vera Hunsley, of Britt.

DONALD E. BARTA
MANLY - Donald E. Barta, 75, of 534 S. Broadway, Manly, died Monday (July 19, 1999) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Bride Colonial Chapel, in Manly.
The family suggests memorials may be given in his name.
Donald was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Manly, Iowa, the son of Edward F. and Katherine (Koci) Barta. He graduated from Manly High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army as a Private in Company B, 79th Infantry. He served in the Peace Corps in Jamaica for two years, 1972-74.
Donald drove a school bus for North Central Schools for 27 years.
On Dec. 6, 1986, he was united in marriage with Laurie Clayton, in Plymouth, Iowa.
His hobbies included his motorcycle and making trips with his wife on their cycles.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Barta, of Manly; two stepchildren, Mike Clayton and his wife, Michelle, of Burlington, Wis., and Stacy Stecker and her husband, Steve, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Doreen DeWitt, of Waterloo, Iowa and Donna Grahm and her husband, Bob, of Central City, Neb.; a sister, Marie Barta, of Manly; a six stepgrandchildren; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

DONALD L. PRICE
GARNER - Donald L. Price, 52, passed away Tuesday (July 20, 1999) at Mason City.
Private services will be conducted at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery , Wesley. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.
Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner, is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Lee Price, the son of Charles and D'Loras (Payne) Price, was born March 18, 1947, at Wesley. He attended school at Wesley up to the sixth grade and graduated from Britt High School in 1965. He attended Mason City Jr. College and then served his country in the U.S. Army from December of 1967 to December of 1971.
He returned to Britt and worked at Winnebago Industries at Forest City until disabilities caused his early retirement. He moved to Garner in 1998. Working and caring for youth was very important to Donald. He loved antiques.
He attended the Nazarene Church in Britt.
He is survived by two brothers, Bill Price and his wife, Sandy, of Fertile and Jim Price and his wife, Marcia, of Westminster, Colo; a sister, Jean Hansen and her husband, Val, of Cedar Falls; several aunts; many nieces and nephews; and many friends he considered as family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

MASON CITY - David R. Nelson, 74, of 501 S. Kentucky Ave., died Tuesday (July 20, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

FRANK E. 'JIM' LOOMER

Frank Elbert Loomer was born Aug. 24, 1920, on a farm in Bremer County, the oldest of six children to George Loring and Ada Alice (Harris) Loomer, and died Sunday (July 18, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City.
He lived his early childhood in Shell Rock until the age of 10, at which time he moved to LaPorte City, where he attended public schools there. At the age of 19, he enlisted into the United States Navy where he served as Fireman First Class aboard the USS Vestal, USS Saratoga and the USS Delta during World War II. He was discharged on Sept. 29, 1945.
On Nov. 8, 1946, he was united in marriage to Faye Irene Jones in Kansas City, Kan. They made their home in Waterloo, where he was employed by John Deere Tractor Works. In 1949, they moved to Greene, where he was a truck driver for Murphy Trucking and Shultz & Detra Trucking.
Frank re-enlisted in the United States Navy on Aug. 5, 1950, where he served as Boilerman Third Class aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on July 24, 1954. Following his discharge, he worked for White Farm Equipment Company in Charles City until his retirement.
He enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities and especially moving the grandkids in and our of college. Frank enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting.
Living family members include his wife, Faye Irene, of Greene; one daughter, Linda and her husband, Dave Wihlm, of Greene; two sons and their spouses, James and Jeanne Loomer, of Greene, and Jerry and Joan Loomer, of Fairbank; six grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Johanna Wihlm, of Des Moines, Bobbi Loomer, of Greene, Joe Wihlm, of Decorah, Lori and her husband, Corey Hoodjer, of Osage, Jennifer Wihlm, of Greene, and Melissa Loomer, of Fairbank; one brother, Bill Scoles, of Macon, Ga.; four half sisters, Carolyn McNamar, of Waverly, Gwen Kramer, of Shell Rock, Delores Kennedy, of Mankato, Minn., and Mary Ann Zielski, of
Minnesota; two half brothers, George Loomer Jr. and Donald Loomer, of Tripoli; his mother-in-law, Dehlia Lynch, of Liebe Care Center, in Greene; two brothers-in-law, Roy Brandt, of Cedar Rapids, and Merle Smith, of Shell Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alice Smith, Dawn Brandt, Doris Larson; and two half brothers, Keith Loomer and Bobby Loomer.

MALITA M. JACOBS
CHARLES CITY - Malita M. (Mrs. Forrest) Jacobs, 88, 605 Freeman Street, formerly of Rural Route 1, southwest of Charles City, died Wednesday (July 21, 1999) at home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, with the Rev. Mark A. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, south of Charles City.
Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, with the family present from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
