BENTON J. HEITZ
RUDD - Benton J. Heitz, 84, of 105 Depot St., Rudd, died Monday (July 19, 1999) after his car was swept off the road by the waters of Flood Creek, near Rudd.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers, pastor of the Rudd United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery , Charles City.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday.

MILDRED BAYLOR
WESLEY - Mildred Baylor, 100, of Wesley, died Sunday (July 18, 1999) at Algona,
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Wesley. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery , Britt.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

CORA HOLLAND
FOREST CITY - Cora Holland, 89, died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Forest City, with the Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery , Lake Mills.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Forest City. Mittelstadt Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements - (515) 592-0221.
EARL A. STEERE
GREENE - Funeral services for Earl A. Steere, 64, of 21949 135th St., will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, with Pastor Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery
in Greene, with military rites conducted by Tack Barnett Post No. 268 American Legion of Greene.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, where there will be a public scripture service at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services on Saturday.
Earl Arland Steere was born Sept. 28, 1934, in rural Coldwater Township, Butler County, a son of Sophia Steere, and died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
He was baptized on April 7, 1935, and confirmed a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene on March 21, 1948. He received his education in the rural Coldwater Township country schools and as a young man started working on the family farm.
Earl entered the United States Army on Nov. 5, 1956, where he served with Battery C, 73rd Artillery, 1st Armored Division, until his transfer into the Army Reserves on Nov. 4, 1958. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 31, 1962.
On June 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Darlyce Jean Buhrow at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in rural Waverly. They farmed in the rural Greene area and he also hauled grain for area farmers.
As a pastime he enjoyed raising ponies and taking part in the Chuck Wagon Races at the county fairs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Living family members include his loving wife, Darlyce, of Greene; four daughters, Karla Jean Steere, Darla Kaye Steere and Wendy Sue Steere, all of Greene, and Paula Jane Steere and her fiance, Gary Elkin, of Iowa Falls; three sons, Todd William Steere, Michael Lynn and his wife, Cindy Steere, all of Greene, and Corey Earl and his wife, Trisha Steere, of Elma; six grandchildren, Caitlyn Steere, Morgan Steere, Brittany Steere, Nikki Steere, Cassie Elkin, and Wesley Elkin; his mother, Sophia Steere, of Greene; and his father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Gertrude Buhrow, of Tripoli. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Earl A. Steere memorial Fund in care of the family.

MASON CITY - Margaret A. Hettler, 87, died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

MASON CITY - David R. Nelson, 74, of Heritage Care Center, 501 S. Kentucky, died Tuesday (July 20, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City, with the Rev. Paul Enabnit of Clear Lake Christian Church officiating.
There will be no visitation. All arrangements were completed by Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

BANCROFT - Alva A. Kahler, 91, died Thursday (July 22, 1999) at his home in Bancroft.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Bancroft, with the Rev. Paul Bormann officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery , Bancroft.
Visitation will be begin after 2:30 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Bancroft. A parish rosary will begin at 2:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

FOREST CITY - Cora Evelyn Holland, 89, of Forest City, formerly of Lake Mills, passed away Thursday (July 22, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City.

Cora Evelyn Holland, daughter of Mike and Mary (Nelson) Holland was born April 7, 1910, in South Dakota.
Cora worked as a cook at the Holiday Grill in Lake Mills for several years.
She enjoyed being with her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Roger and his wife, Frances Peterson, of Lake Mills, Ilene and her husband, Russell Schnebly, Vernon and his wife, Bonnie Peterson, Beverly and her husband, Dennis Steffensen, all of Forest City, Sharon and her husband, Harlan Peterson, of Des Moines, Dennis and his wife, Sandra Peterson, of Lake Mills; and very special friends, Shari Peterson, of Shoreview, Minn., and Sheila Tomlin, of Chesterfield, Mo.; and numerous great nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Minnie Holland; and sister and brother-in-law, Elnora and Perdean Peterson.

LAKE MILLS - H. Lucille Cooley, 86, of Lake Mills, died Friday (July 23, 1999) at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, with the Rev. Sara Beth Akre officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery , Forest City.

IMOGENE M. HOBSCHEIDT
ALGONA - Imogene M. Hobscheidt, 80, of 412 W. Kennedy St., died Friday (July 23, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, Algona.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Whittemore, with Father Victor Ramaeker officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. parish prayer service.
Imogene M. Hobscheidt was born July 1, 1919, the daughter of Marion and Laura (Nichols) Worthan. Imogene graduated from Plattsmouth, Neb., High School in 1936. She attended Clarkson School of Nursing in Omaha, Neb.
Imogene was united in marriage to George W. Hobscheidt on Feb. 22, 1940 in Plattsmouth, Neb. After their marriage, they lived at Glenwood, Iowa, and in 1940 moved to their farm at LuVerne, Iowa. In 1979 they moved to their home in Whittemore. Imogene worked at the Directory Service in Algona from 1968 to 1978. She entered the Good Samaritan Center, in Algona, in 1996.
She loved to garden and also loved sewing. She enjoyed fishing and camping. She loved to be near her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilynne Cink, of Algona, and Anne Nelson, of Sioux City, Iowa; three sons, Dave Hobscheidt, of Keota, Jerry Hobscheidt, of Britt, and Dennis Hobscheidt, of Algona; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Worthan, of Tacoma, Wash., Bert Worthan, of Murray, Neb. and Pud "Gomer" Worthan, of Omaha, Neb.; and one sister, Ruby Lancaster, of Murray, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George W. Hobscheidt; and one sister, Opal Snodgrass.
