MARCELLA A. LARSEN

MASON CITY - Marcella A. Larsen, 65, of 651 Sixth St. SE, died Saturday (July 24, 1999) at her home from complications due to lupus.

Funeral services will be held at 10.30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Craig Larsen, of Red Oak Assembly of God, Red Oak, and the Rev. David Anderson, of St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery , Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the church chapel Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the Marcella A. Larsen Memorial fund.

Marcella was born at home on a farm west of Kensett March 4, 1934, the daughter of Clifford C. and Clara A. (Bakken) Seter. She was baptized at home four days later.

At 9 years of age, her family moved to a farm northwest of Osage. Marcella was confirmed May 23, 1948, at Osage Lutheran Church where the confirmation hymn was "Lead On." She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Mitchell.

Marcella married Clifford R. Larsen Nov. 29, 1952, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. For their first six years of marriage, they farmed east of Klemme. In 1970, they moved to Mason City from Hampton and have lived here since then.

Marcella was a paraprofessional at Madison Elementary School, working in the special needs area until her health began to fail.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and church circle.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford R. Larsen, of Mason City; her children, Linda Viet and her husband, Dennis, of Hampton, Karen Estep and her husband, Craig, of Ankeny, Craig Larsen and his wife, Dari, of Red Oak, and Mike Larsen and his wife, Chris, of George; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Janson and her husband, Edgar, of Belmond, and Mildred Jennings and her husband, Francis, of Orchard; and a brother, Clifford Seter Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Charles City.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joshua.

EVELYN G. (RIEKENA) FOSTER

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother.

Evelyn G. (Riekena) Foster, 70, of Rockford, Ill., died at her residence at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday (July 25, 1999).

Born Oct. 20, 1928, in Woden, Iowa. She married O.W. Bill Foster, in Rockford, Ill, on March 31, 1953. A resident of Rockford for 47 years, coming from Forest City, Iowa. She was a graduate of Forest City High School. Evelyn was an avid reader, loved to travel and dance. She was a member of The Centennial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; daughters, Susan Lamarre, of Rockford, and Nancy Huber of German Town Hills, Ill.; grandsons, Adam and Luke Lamarre, Dustin Huber; brothers, Dutch (Bea) Riekena and Edward Riekena, of Forest City, and George (Vivian) Riekena, of Merlin, Ore.; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by parents; brothers, Ben, Henry and Warren Riekena.

Prayer services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Centennial United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dr. Patrick R. Bruns officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery , Forest City, Iowa, following a memorial service in Forest City at the United Methodist Church, Forest City, with Dr. Patrick R. Bruns officiating.

Arrangements made by Honquest Family Funeral Services Inc., North Mulford Chapel, 4205 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the family of Evelyn, for distribution to her favorite charities.

MARIE C. MEYER

ROCKWELL - Marie C. Meyer, 88, of Rockwell, died Monday (July 26, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

DANA L. MOORE

CHARLES CITY - Dana L. Moore, 31, died Saturday (July 24, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Memorial services are incomplete at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.

WILLIAM T. KIRKSEY

CHARLES CITY - William T. Kirksey, 70, died Monday (July 26, 1999) at his daughter's home at 1102 Court St. in Charles City.

ANITA L. 'NETE' SNERE

ALGONA - Anita L. "Nete" Snere 78, of 204 S. Woodworth St., Algona, died Sunday (July 25, 1999) at her home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona, with the Rev. Steven Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery , Algona.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church.

Anita was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Charles City, the daughter of Harry and Rosina (Caya) Rabb. Anita was a graduate of Charles City High School in 1938. After her schooling, she went to work for the War Department in Washington, D.C.

Then she became an airline hostess with Pennsylvania Central Airlines. After her marriage, the couple moved to Seattle and lived there while John attended school. Upon leaving Seattle, they lived in Sheldon, Sibley, Whittemore and moved to Algona in 1955. She operated the H & R Block income-tax business for 13 years. She taught bridge at night school for many years.

Anita enjoyed playing bridge, reading, playing the piano and working with her stamp collection. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.

Anita is survived by two sons, Greg Snere, of Mason City, and Jeff Snere and his wife, Alice, of Mason City; three grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen and Brittney; one sister, Virginia Nickerson, of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Snere; father, Harry Rabb; mother, Rosina Rabb; and one brother, Douglas Rabb.

DONNA B. ROWLEY

NORA SPRINGS - Donna B. Rowley, 76, died Saturday morning (July 24, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, at the Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Rockford, with the Rev. Dick Clark of St. Timothy's United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral services.

Visitation was held on Monday at the funeral chapel.

Donna was born on Jan. 25, 1923, at Adel, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Elliott) Lamb. She graduated in 1941 from Mason City High School.

She was united in marriage to Howard Rowley on Aug. 29, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. She worked for a time at A. C. Nielsen rating service and then turned her attention to caring for her family. This included working on a farm near Rockford and then a dairy operation with her husband in Louisiana. Later, they moved to several communities before returning to Rockford in 1974.

She enjoyed being at home working with her flower and vegetable gardens, raising her pets and being with her family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing at the Surf and playing card games such as "500," Canasta and Rummy.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Howard, Nora Springs; two daughters, Gayle and her husband, Roger Burnett, Rockford, and Lorraine and her husband, Thomas Patrick, New Hope, Minn.; one son, Frank and his wife, Marcia Rowley, Princeton; one sister, Violet "Jackie" Harr, Rockford; one brother, Gail and his wife, Mary Lamb, Mason City; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; one son, William in 1976; two sisters, Marietta Piatt and Pauline Clifford; and one brother, Louis Paul.

E.W. 'BILL' HENKE

CHARLES CITY - E. W. "Bill" Henke, 77, of 2616 Atlantic Court, Pharr, Texas, and 1107 Freeman St., Charles City, died Sunday (July 25, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, after suffering a heart attack at his residence.

A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Ferguson and Jackson Streets, Charles City, with the Rev. Jack L. Ivey, assisted by the Rev. William Green, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, south of Charles City, with graveside military honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

There will be no visitation. The Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

E. W. "Bill" Henke was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Charles City, the son of attorney W. G. Henke and Tillie Graf Henke. He received his education in the Charles City Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1939. While in school, he was active in athletics and other school activities. He continued his education at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon and the University of Iowa.

He enlisted in the Naval Air Corps on July 10, 1942, and was called into active service on Jan. 5, 1943. He received a Naval Discharge on Aug. 20, 1943, and entered the U.S. Army Air Corps on Aug. 28, 1943. He received his pilot's wings and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on Aug. 4, 1944. He was separated from active duty on Oct. 10, 1945.

Upon his honorable discharge, Mr. Henke returned to the University of Iowa Law School, where he received a juris doctor degree with distinction on Sept. 6, 1945. He began his practice of law on Oct. 14, 1947, in Charles City, and retired from it in January 1988.

On July 23, 1943, in Webster Grove, Mo., he was united in marriage to Leona Dahlgren. Leona passed away June 13, 1992, in Rochester, Minn. He was then united in marriage to Marion McFarland McKay on Jan. 28, 1993, in Charles City.

Mr. Henke was a member of the Floyd County Bar Association, Second Judicial District Bar Association and the Iowa State Bar Association. He served two terms as Floyd County attorney, a term as a member of the Second Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission and also served as a member of the Floyd County Magistrate Appointment Commission.

For many years, he was active in the Republican Party in Iowa, having served as precinct committeeman, Floyd County chairman, Third District chairman and a member of the State Central Committee. He was chairman of the last Republican State Judicial Convention held Aug. 2, 1960.

Mr. Henke belonged to the American Legion Shannon Wilson Post No. 174, of Charles City, where he was past commander. He was also a life member of the BPO Elks No. 418 and had served as a member of the trustees and of the house committee. Mr. Henke belonged to the former Charles City Country Club, where he had served as a member of the board of directors and as president.

Those thankful for sharing Bill's life are his wife, Marion, of Pharr, Texas; three daughters and their husbands, Trisha and Ray Murray, of Hampton, Susan and Jan Meyer, of Laurel and Lori and Ron Kaglic, of Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister, Joan K. Henke, of Hemet, Calif.; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; Marion's sons, Mike and his wife, Jaqueline McKay, of Port Orchard, Wash., and Bill McKay, of Monterey, Calif.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Leona; and a son, William Henke.
