EDITH K. KOCH
GARNER - Edith K. Koch, 92, of Garner, passed away Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at the Concord Care Center, Garner.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery , rural Garner.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner, and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Edith Kirstine Koch, the daughter of Jens Skade and Ane Kathrine Cecilie Kristiane (Carlsen) Jensen, was born Nov. 28, 1906, at Klovborg, Denmark. She was baptized on Dec. 6, 1906 at Klovborg Church.
In May 1907, she immigrated with her family to the United States settling in Humboldt. She attended school at Rutland until 1921 when she moved with her family to Hancock County and lived five miles south of Crystal Lake. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1925. She moved with her parents to Ellington Township in 1928 and later settled in Garner.
Edith became a member of the United Presbyterian Church in 1937, where she taught Sunday school and held several offices in church circles.
On Oct. 30, 1970, she was married to Alfred Koch at the United Presbyterian Church. She moved to Prairie View Apartments in September 1971. Due to ill health, Edith moved to the Concord Care Center in September 1996.
She was member of the United Presbyterian Church, Garner Senior Citizens, Grandmother's Club and the Garner Garden Club.
She is survived by a stepson, John Koch and his wife, Connie, of Wauwatosa, Wis; four stepchildren, Rebecca , Elizabeth, Tim and Tom; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two nieces, Alice Roath and her husband, Gary, of Mason City and Eileen Butz, of Clear Lake; a nephew, Roger Howland and his wife, Barbara, of Forest City; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred "Mose" Koch, on May 9, 1974; parents; an infant sister; two brothers, Pete and Berg Jensen; and a sister, Esther Howland.

JASON LEE MOORE
BELMOND - Funeral services for Jason Lee Moore will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Belmond, with Pastor Celestyne DeVance and Pastor Lynne Spencer-Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, in Belmond and will continue one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Jason Moore Memorial Fund.
Jason Lee Moore, the son of Curt and Byrul (Miller) Moore, was born on Jan. 30, 1972, at the Belmond Community Hospital, in Belmond. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church, in Belmond.
Jason attended school in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School in 1990. Jason worked for Vermeer Company in Pella on the third shift as a welder. He was making his home in Hedrick, Iowa.
He enjoyed fishing, cars, especially race cars and racing.
He died as the result of an accident on Highway 163, near Pella, Iowa. Jason died en route to Iowa Methodist Hospital, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jason is survived by his parents, Curtis and Byrul Moore, of Belmond; three sisters, Kim Moore, of Chicago, Ill., and Jenny Moore and Jamie Moore, both at home in Belmond; his paternal grandparents, Don and June Moore, of Belmond; and a special friend, Courtney Hamilton and her daughter, Hannah, of Hedrick.
He was preceded in death by his son, Zackery; his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Vernice Miller; and two uncles, Virgil Miller and Frank Miller.

MICHAEL 'MICK' DAVIS
DES MOINES - Funeral services were held at St. Stephens Lutheran Church on July 24, 1999, for Michael "Mick" Kent Davis, who died at the age of 60 years, at Iowa Methodist Hospital due to a kidney ailment on July 21, 1999. Burial services were held at Merle Hay Chapel Gardens Cemetery , in Des Moines.
Michael was born in Mason City, Iowa, on April 10, 1939, to Charles and Catherine Davis, of Clear Lake, Iowa. Michael attended and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1957. He also attended the Linotype School in Charles City and graduated in 1958.
Michael married Mary Ann Zinnel, of West Bend, Iowa, on Feb. 15, 1960. They had one son, Dwayne.
Michael and his wife, Mary Ann ran several newspapers and Silk Screen business in northern Iowa for 22 years. In December of 1986, they sold their business and moved to Des Moines. Michael was the manager and operated the Printing Department for Triplett Office Essential in Des Moines from 1987 until 1997. At that time, Michael was unable to work, because of his illness. He was in the printing profession for nearly 50 years.
Michael was a member of the Lions Club and Commerce Clubs and Craftsmans Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, of Des Moines; their son, Dwayne and his wife, Dixie David; three grandchildren, Tanya, Melissa and Brandon, all of Colfax; his parents, Charles and Catherine Davis, of Clear Lake; three sisters, Sandra, of Clear Lake, Jill (Rick) Deuel, of Murrieta, Calif., and Joni (Andy) Anderson, of Kingman, Ariz.; and one brother, Scott, of Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Jerry Reeves, Gary Anderson, Rick Deuel, Shaun Cesar, Daryl O'Brien and LeRoy Schnathorst.
VERL G. FLUHRER
MANLY - Verl G. Fluhrer, 79, of Manly, died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery , Manly.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, with a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service.
Verl was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Grafton, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Lydia (Schauer) Fluhrer. He attended rural school in Worth County. He was united in marriage to Catherine Brandt on Sept. 14, 1941, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Parsonage, Clear Lake.
Verl farmed on the home place, then moved to Manly, where he worked for the City of Manly. He then worked for the Rock Island Railroad, later the Chicago Northwestern until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, visiting with the family, friends, woodworking, making bird houses and black walnut crosses, telling jokes, playing cards and enjoying his cats.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Catherine Fluhrer, of Manly; his four children, Larry Fluhrer and his wife, Vicki, of Clarion; Darlene Diedrich and her husband, David, of Grafton, Lester Fluhrer, of Mason City, and LuAnn Fluhrer, of Mason City; four grandchildren, Michelle Fluhrer, Randy Fluhrer and his wife, Chris, Jennifer Klehm and her husband, Kevin and Chad Fluhrer; three great-grandchildren, Randy Jr., Miranda and Mikayla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three half brothers, Wilbur, Shervin and Ray Urbatsch.

SHERYL A. BUTCHER
MASON CITY - Sheryl A. Butcher, 52, of 635 S. Pierce Ave., died Tuesday (July 27, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church, 1301 N. Carolina Ave., with the Rev. David French and the Rev. John Scheneman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. The casket will be closed.
Memorials may be given to the Sheryl A. Butcher Memorial Fund.
Sheryl A. Butcher was born April 14, 1947, in Indianola, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Moon) Kading. Sheryl attended and graduated from Indianola High School with honors in 1965.
Sheryl married Paul C. Quigley in 1980, in Indianola, Iowa.
Sheryl worked for the Clear Lake Bakery and most recently she was a cake decorator for HyVee West for over nine years.
She married Steve Butcher on Aug. 18, 1991, in Mason City.
Sheryl was a talented artist, painting with oils and doing pastels. She enjoyed organic gardening, camping and especially her children.
Sheryl was a born-again Christian and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Mason City.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Butcher, of Mason City; two daughters, Kelley Quigley, of Mason City and Morgan Quigley, of Mason City; one stepdaughter, Shannon Quigley-Johnson and husband, Michael, Kansas City, Mo.; parents, Donald and Dorothy Kading, of Indianola; two sisters, Karen Pedersen and her husband, Wendell, of Bettendorf and LaDonna Overton and husband, Pat, Carlisle; one brother, Richard "Dick" Kading and his wife, Teri, of Cedar Rapids; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her first husband, Paul Quigley.
MARIE C. MEYER
ROCKWELL - Marie C. Meyer, 88, of Rockwell, died Monday (July 26, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Ronald Bolinger officiating. Interment will be in the Rockwell Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., Rockwell. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the St. Peter Lutheran Church or the Marie Meyer Memorial Fund.
Marie was born July 23, 1911, the daughter of Albert and Wilhelmiene (Wiele) Liekweg, in Sheffield.
On Nov. 15, 1936, Marie was united in marriage to Paul F. Meyer, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, in Sheffield. The couple resided in Sheffield for a year until moving to a farm in the rural Sheffield area. In 1949, the couple moved to the farm near Rockwell.
Marie was involved in different aspects of the church including being a member of the Martha Circle and helping make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was also an enthusiastic teacher of the Nursery Sunday School class for many years retiring in the late '60s. Marie enjoyed crocheting in her spare time especially afghans for her children and grandchildren. She was also known for her great cooking and baking, for example, her monkey bread that everyone was fond of. Paul and Marie would always take time for a cup of coffee, if anyone would stop. They also loved to go visit family and friends. Marie's most precious time was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those thankful for having shared in Marie's include her three sons, David and his wife, Sharon Meyer, of Mason City, Kenneth and his wife, Linda Meyer, of Rockwell and Donald and his wife, Sandi Meyer, of Clive; two sisters, Maude and her husband, Dwain Schinagel, of Sheffield, and Hilda Mae Dhondt, of Sheffield; three brothers, Robert Liekweg, of Marshfield, Mo., Edward and his wife, Betty Liekweg, of Iowa Falls, and Richard and his wife, Peg Liekweg, of Iowa Falls; one sister-in-law, Helen Liekweg, of Sheffield; one brother-in-law, Marvin and his wife, Anna Mae Meyer, of Sheffield; nine grandchildren, Kim Platts, Susan, Philip, and Penny Meyer, Wendy and her husband, Doug Jorgensen, Schelly Meyer, David and his fiancee, Julie Quam, Melissa and her husband, Dave Slocum, James and his wife, Jodi Meyer; five great-grandchildren, Kari Platts, twins, Melissa and Michael Piper, and Lisa and Anne Jorgensen; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul on Jan. 19, 1999; three sisters, Edna Kock, Elsie Liekweg, and Doris Liekweg; two brothers, August and Clarence Liekwig; and one granddaughter, Lisa Meyer.
