Everyone is welcome for a time of fellowship and lunch at the West Burlington United
Methodist Church immediately following the funeral service.
-Interment: Winfield Scott Cemetery , Winfield, Iowa at 1:30 PM
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the West Burlington United
Methodist Church and the Des Moines County Humane Society

Hoyt Crawford Irwin, 79, of West Burlington, Iowa died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born March 12, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Harry R. and Lola H. Helt Irwin. He married Waunita J. Mumme on June 1, 1947 in Burlington, Iowa. She died May 5, 2004.

Mr. Irwin graduated from Burlington High School in 1945.

He served in the Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1946 as a Boilermaker, 1st class Petty Officer and served on the U.S.S. Block Island.

He was a Manufacturing Engineer at J.I. Case Company for 22 years, retiring in the early 1980’s.

Mr. Irwin was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church, Des Moines Masonic Lodge #1 AF&AM, Order of the Eastern Star, Circle Square B Promenades, Square-n-Aders and Merry-Go-Rounds Dance Club. He enjoyed HO trains, camping, dancing and was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 6 of West Burlington.

Survivors include two sons, Harold R. (Debbie) Irwin of West Burlington, Iowa and Bruce A. Irwin and (Duane Larson) of Shorewood, Illinois; one daughter, Joanie R. (Garry) Huebner of Belleville, Illinois; one grandson, Kevin Irwin; and a great uncle, Carroll Helt of Redlands, California.
His wife and parents preceded him in death.

Martha Viola Jaeger
May 20, 1914 - December 13, 2005

-Graveside Services: Thursday, December 15, 2005 1:00 PM at Aspen Grove Cemetery

Martha Viola Jaeger, 91 of Burlington died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at Great River Medical Center’s Klein Center.

She was born in Red Granite, Wisconsin on May 20, 1914. On December 18, 1937 she married Charles Vollmer Jaeger in Burlington.

Mrs. Jaeger attended Edina High School, was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Methodist Women and Methodist Quilting Circle. She loved to garden and sew. She also helped raise her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Henry of Burlington; son, John Jaeger of Burlington; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Patton of West Point; three sisters, Flora Odom of West Point, Ruth Richardson of Farmington and Charlene Phillips of Burlington; and her special friend at Autumn Heights, Margaret Hayes.

Her husband; parents; and three brothers, Joseph, Arthur and Robert preceded her in death.

Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice.

Raymond Charles "Jake" Jaeger
June 20, 1919 - January 26, 2008

-Friends May Call: Monday, January 28th from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM
in Lunning Chapel.
-Family will receive friends: Monday, January 28th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
in Lunning Chapel.
- Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 29th, at 10:30 AM in Lunning Chapel

The Reverend Ron Jewett will officiate.

Charles Raymond “Jake” Jaeger, 88, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 4:30 a.m. at Great River Medical Center.

Born June 20, 1919 in Burlington, he was the son of Harry B. and Edith Hodges Jaeger. On August 6, 1939 he married Helen Greta Bragg in Iowa City at her parent’s home. They were married for sixty- five wonderful years. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2005.

Mr. Jaeger served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II, from June 1944 until September 1946. He received a Purple Heart from injuries received in the battle in Okinawa. He was a member of the DAV. He was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid duck hunter during his younger days and enjoyed fishing and boating on the Mississippi River. Mr. Jaeger was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He was a Cubs fan and enjoyed football and baseball games. Mr. Jaeger was a people person and made friends wherever he went. His family was the most important part of his life and enjoyed having them at his home as often as possible. Mr. Jaeger worked for 41 years at Leopold Desk, retiring in 1981.

Survivors include his children, Donald L. “Skip” and Lou Jaeger, Burlington; Edith M. Jaeger, Kingsford, MI; Richard A. “Rich” Jaeger, Gulfport, IL; Donna J. and Richard Hull, Burlington; Fredrick M. “Fred” Jaeger, Burlington; Diana L. and David Jackson, Berthoud, CO; ten grandchildren, Donald and David Jaeger, Lynne Gotz, Brooke Milligan, Scott and Amy Jaeger, Brian and Mark Hull, Angela Nunn and Melissa Colbeck; sixteen great grandchildren, Krystal Klein, Courtney, Ben, Alexa and Zack Jaeger, Dylan and Chayce Jaeger, Brianna Hull, Ashlee Rex, Noah and Alyssa Hull, Bailey and Riley Nunn, Conner Colbeck, Hayleigh and Abigail Milligan; two great great grandchildren, Madison and Tanner Klein.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in 2005, and son Charles “Chuck” Jaeger in 2002, his parents, four sisters and one brother.

Iola Lovanne Jameson
August 10, 1936 - November 12, 2006

-Memorial Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 15th, 3:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
Pastor Marshall Jackman will officiate
-Inurnment: Greenwood Cemetery , rural West Burlington
According to her wishes the body of Mrs. Jameson has been cremated.
A memorial has been established for a marker at the cemetery.

Iola Lovanne Jameson, 70, of West Burlington, Iowa died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Great River Medical Center.

Born August 10, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charlie and Ruby Surver White. On July 19, 1980 she married Harry R. Jameson in Burlington.

Mrs. Jameson was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She worked in the office of J.C. Penney’s for 34 years.

Survivors include her husband, Harry R. Jameson, of West Burlington; one son, Thomas E. Jameson of Burlington; one daughter, JoAnne Walker of Danville, Iowa; one stepson Ronald Jameson of Burlington; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Bob White of Moline, Illinois, Charles White of Buda, Illinois, and Lester White of California; two sisters, Jauanita Rice and Maxine Flunk both of California.

Her parents, three brothers, and two half sisters preceded her in death.

Donna Jean Taeger Janney
January 9, 1931 - September 23, 2006

-Funeral Service: Friday, September 29th, 2:00 PM in Lunning Chapel with ministers of
the Burlington and Oakville Apostolic Christian Church to officiate.
-Interment: Aspen Grove Cemetery , Burlington, Iowa

Donna Jean Taeger Janney, 75, of Miamisburg, Ohio since 1956 and formerly of Burlington, died at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg.

Born January 9, 1931 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Deverre Louis and Anna Stoermer Eastburn. She first married James Taeger who preceded her in death on November 20, 1971. She later married Silas Maxey Janney on December 27, 1981 in West Carrollton, Ohio who also preceded her in death.

She was employed by Manpower and retired in 1989. She was a member of Miamisburg and Dayton Moose Lodges.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Taeger and Russell (Kathy) Taeger both of Miamisburg; two grandchildren, Amy (Brad) Dalton of Middletown, Ohio and Scarlet Taeger of Miamisburg; three great grandchildren, Brittany Dalton, Brooke Dalton and Abigail Bennett; sister, Shirley Curley of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Florence E. Johnsen
November 29, 2007 - January 21 2007

Florence E. Johnsen, 90, of Burlington, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at her residence.

Born November 29, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Otto and Emma Earlinson Gustafson. On November 6, 1937 she married George Kenneth Johnsen in Chicago. He died October 29, 1987.

Mrs. Johnsen was a graduate of Grovertown (Indiana) High School. She loved playing basketball in High School and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, and traveling with her son Dick to the Islands.

Survivors include one son, Richard “Dick” K. Johnsen of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandsons, Jeff, Brent and Jonas; and one great grandson, Cody.

Her husband, parents, and sister preceded her in death.

Carl R. "Johnny" Johnson

September 6, 1948 - October 8, 2006

-Funeral Service: Saturday, October 14th, 1:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
A memorial service will be held in Columbia, South Carolina at a later date.

Carl Robert “Johnny” Johnson, 58, of Columbia, South Carolina and formerly of Burlington, Iowa died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2006, at his residence.

Born September 6, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he was the son of Herbert F. and Anna Fern Gardner Johnson. On May 25, 1974 he married Rosemary Beth Bloomer at the 40 and 8 Park in Burlington.

Mr. Johnson was a 1966 graduate of Notre Dame High School and a graduate of University of Iowa. He was a computer engineer and principal programmer analyst for NCR for over 20 years traveling throughout the United States and abroad with his job.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a spiritual person and a member of the Unstoppable Pool Team in Columbia.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Johnson of Columbia, South Carolina; one daughter, Dawn Nicole Johnson of Columbia; three sisters, Ginger Lite of Burlington, Maribeth (Ed) Taschner of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and Tina Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; and one brother, Jimmy Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada.

His parents preceded him in death.
