ALGONA - Sharon Leigh Shipler, 64, of Algona, died Saturday (Aug. 14, 1999) at Algona.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Algona.. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery , Bancroft.
Visitation was held at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona.
BERNICE C. GREGSON
MASON CITY - Bernice C. Gregson, 82, of 328 13th St. S.E., died Sunday (Aug. 15, 1999) at the Good Shepherd Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Bill Poland, of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery
at a later date. Her body will be cremated after the funeral.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home and until time of services on Thursday.
Memorials may be given to the Bernice C. Gregson Memorial Fund.
Bernice C. Gregson was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Ocheyedan, Iowa, to Jake and Anna W. (Brehmer) Schubert. She attended and graduated from Corwith High School.
On May 20, 1934, Bernice was united in marriage with Kenneth W. Gregson in Garner, Iowa.
In 1943, they moved to Mason City where they have lived ever since. She worked for the Mason City Public School System for 19 years, retiring in 1979.
Bernice has been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1945 and the Lydia Church Circle, as well as the 500 Club.
She enjoyed doing needlework and traveling to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed trout fishing on Lake Michigan with her niece's family.
Her family includes her husband, Ken Gregson, of Mason City; three sons, Richard K. Gregson and wife, Shirley, of Phoenix, Dr. Michael J. Gregson and his wife, Georgiana, of Pocatello, Idaho, and Larry G. Gregson, of Mason City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcella Wignall and her husband, Warren, of Marshalltown; and one sister-in-law, Myrna Gregson, of Algona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Lucille Shipman.

NORA SPRINGS - Mary A. Babbitt, 69, of Rudd, died Monday (Aug. 16, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rudd United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers and the Rev. Greg Lugn, of the Nora Springs Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Rudd.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

CONNIE BECKER
SHEFFIELD - Connie (Mrs. Todd) Becker, 43, of 222 N. Fifth St., Sheffield, died Saturday evening (Aug. 14, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, following a car-motorcycle accident on Highway 65 near Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, south of Charles City.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Hauser Funeral Home and an hour prior to services at the church.
Connie Rae Onken Becker was born March 6, 1956, at San Francisco, the daughter of Keith and Alberta (Woodworth) Onken. She graduated from Charles City High School. On May 14, 1976, she and Todd Becker were married at Kansas City. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with his construction business.
Living family members include her husband, Todd, of Sheffield; a daughter, Kristle of Sheffield; a son, Kevin and his wife, Jill, of Sheffield; two grandchildren, Alexander and Angelle Becker; her mother, Alberta Onken, of Cresco; a sister, Cindy Seelye, of Cresco; a brother, Keith and his wife, Val, of Charles City; and she was an Aunt of Julie and Jamie Onken.
She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.

FOREST CITY - Former Forest City resident, Ethel M. Anderson, 91, died Tuesday (Aug. 17, 1999) at Watertown, S.D.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Civic Auditorium in Forest City, with Lyle Schober and Richard Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery , Forest City.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the Civic Auditorium.
Ethel M. Anderson, the daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Williamson) Jensen, was born on Feb. 18, 1908, in Ripley, Butler County. She graduated from Aredale High School in 1924 and then had post-graduate schooling in Greene. Ethel taught school in Butler County country schools for eight years.
On Aug. 10, 1934, she married Foster Anderson in Greene. The couple made their home in Forest City for 60 years. Mr. Anderson passed away on May 28, 1994, and Ethel moved to Watertown, S.D., to live with her daughter.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening and worked in the Forest City Greenhouse for many years designing flower arrangements and working with plants she loved.
She is survived by her son, Alan Anderson, of Ebano, Mexico; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Betty) Rowland, of Watertown, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Maynard (Emma) Eames, of Forest City; three grandchildren, Karen Pedigo, Keith Rowland and Linda Debelak; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Lloyd Jensen.

HILDA DURBEN ADAMS
STACYVILLE - Hilda Durben Adams, 94, of Stacyville, died Tuesday (Aug. 17, 1999) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the church hall with a rosary at 3 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Hilda Durben Adams was born on July 13, 1905, to Joseph and Agnes (Ostendorf) Puettmann, in Roseville. She married Joe Durben in 1927. He died in July of 1957. She married Carl Adams on Dec. 1, 1962. He died on Aug. 27, 1976.
Hilda is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Buckingham of Stacyville, Doris Durben of Spokane, Wash., Shirley Lang of Lincoln, Neb., and Mary Alice Vail of Olympia, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joie Lady of Rochester, Minn., Clara King of Austin, Minn., and Loretta Krebsbach of Stacyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; five sisters, Kate Kuechenberg, Mary Gerber, Veronica Puettmann, Frances Kramer and Emma Durben; and one brother, Hubert Puettmann.

RAYMOND J. PYLE
KANAWHA - Raymond J. Pyle, 82, of Kanawha, died Monday (Aug. 16, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Holmes Lutheran Church in Holmes, with the Rev. Kathy Graves, of Mason City, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery , Clarion.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion.
Raymond John Pyle was born on May 26, 1917, in Wall Lake Township, Wright County, to Merl and Hattie (Sebert) Pyle. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1936.
Raymond was united in marriage with Katherine Pearl Michelsen on Sept. 30, 1944, at her parents' farm near Kanawha. They were married 54 years. Raymond farmed in the Eagle Grove and Clarion areas for 45 years. He retired in 1981 and moved to Kanawha in 1988.
He was director and past president of the Wright County Farm Bureau, a member of the Eagle Grove and Clarion Saddle Clubs, participated in the Senior Bowling League at Belmond, the Pony Express Riders and was awarded a Five-Year Buckle by the Eminence Missouri Trail Riders.
Raymond was also a member of the Holmes Lutheran Church.
He spent his retirement doing what he loved most, horseback riding and gardening.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Katherine, of Kanawha; five children, Donna Ullah and husband, Hamid, of Valdosta, Ga., Barb Amdahl and husband, Maynard, of Ankeny, David Pyle, of Clarion, Sharon Montgomery and husband, Jeff, of Belmond, and Betty Niehaus and husband, Butch, of Clarinda; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Robert; two daughters, Diane, in 1945 and Mary Pomereau in 1995; and one grandson, Brandon, in 1978.
