MANLY - F. Jane Painter, 103, formerly of Manly, died Tuesday (Aug. 24, 1999) at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood.

ORIN B. BRUNSVOLD

ALBERT LEA, Minn. - Orin B. Brunsvold, 93, of Albert Lea, died Monday (Aug. 23, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with the Rev. Selmer G. Hernes officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Creek Cemetery , rural Kensett.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church.

ALFRED T. PETERSEN

CLEAR LAKE - Alfred T. Petersen, 81, of Clear Lake, died Monday (Aug. 23, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura, with the Rev. Daird Korth officiating. Interment will be at Concord Township Cemetery , Garner.

MYRNA KERR NELSON

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - Myrna Kerr Nelson was born in Lime Springs on Sept. 24, 1921, and raised in Mason City. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1939.

She enlisted in the Navy Waves during World War II, and served from November of 1942 to May of 1944. She taught instrumental flying to Navy student pilots.

She married John A. Nelson in Mason City on April 1, 1944, while both were on a short leave.

She was a resident of Parma, Ohio, from 1951 to 1961. During that period, she was active in Girl and Boy Scouts and the PTA. She also devoted a great deal of time to the passage of school construction levies for a rapidly expanding Parma School District.

In 1962, she moved to Wooster, Ohio, with her family. There she was secretary to the superintendent of building and grounds for the College of Wooster.

In 1964, she moved to Deerfield, Ill., with her family, where she worked as secretary to the president of Deerfield Savings and Loan.

In 1964, she returned to the Cleveland area, residing in Parma Heights, Ohio. For a period of 12 years, she served as assistant to the Dean of Arts and Sciences of Cuyahoga Community College, Western Campus, retiring in 1982.

Following her retirement she became active in WAVES National and was a founding member of Western Reserves Unit 133 serving Cleveland, Ohio, and the surrounding area. She was also a charter member of Public Employees Retirees International Cuyahoga County Chapter II. As a member of OASIS (Older Adult Service and Information System), she enjoyed the many programs offered in the arts, humanities, wellness, and volunteer services. She was also a long time member of Parma-South Presbyterian Church in Parma Heights, Ohio, where she served as a deaconess.

Mrs. Nelson passed away Saturday (Aug. 21, 1999) at the age of 77.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John A. Nelson, retired administrator of Parma Community General Hospital. She is also survived by a son, Craig and his wife, Beth, of Wildwood, Ill.; daughter, Kristine Noll and her husband, Bob, of University Heights, Ohio; and daughter, Nancy Donahue and her husband, Bill, of Strongsville, Ohio; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew, Brian, Katie, Mathew, Michael, and Joshua. She is also survived by her mother, Merle Kerr, of Clear Lake; and a sister, Marcia Burke, of Clear Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Parma-South Presbyterian Church, 6155 Pearl Road, Parma Heights, Ohio. Family will receive friends following the service.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City, at a later date.

Memorials may be forwarded to the Seasons of Life Hospice of Parma Community Hospital, 7007 Powers Blvd., Parma, OH 44129.

SHARON MARIE REGAN

NORA SPRINGS - Sharon Marie Regan, 52, of 17585 Warbler Ave., died Monday (Aug. 23, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Bill Poland of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Memorials may be given to the Sharon Marie Regan Memorial Fund.

Sharon was born Aug. 19, 1947, in Mason City, the daughter of Donald C. and Irene G. (VanLengen) Miller. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1965 and also graduated from NIACC.

Sharon was married on May 16, 1966, in Waterloo, at the Grace United Methodist Church, to Richard L. Regan. She worked at Specialty Archery Products as a supervisor for five years. She loved to bowl and work outside. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Regan, of Nora Springs; son, Blayne Regan, of Nora Springs; daughter, Karrie Regan, of Nora Springs; father, Donald C. Miller, of Mason City; brothers, Robert Charles Miller, of Daleville, Ala. and Donald Miller, of Rockford; one half sister, Pam Shannon, of Mason City; and one grandson, Matthew Regan, of Nora Springs.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Miller on Aug. 25, 1986; and a grandson, Brandon.

LOUIE L. SWEERS

BRITT - Louie L. Sweers, 74, passed away Monday (Aug. 23, 1999) at his home in Britt.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Britt, with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Township Cemetery , Britt.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt and one hour prior to services at the church.

Louie, the son of John and Sena Smidt Sweers, was born July 7, 1925, on the family farm in Boone Township southwest of Britt. He attended country schools. Following the death of his father, when Louie was 16, he farmed with his mother and his brothers.

Louie was drafted during World War II and served with the U.S. Infantry in the European Theater. He was wounded in France and later captured as a prisoner of war in Luxembourg in December of 1944. He was liberated on May 2, 1945. Following his military service, Louie farmed with his brother, Jake.

On Jan. 16, 1950, Louie was united in marriage with Joan Schoby in Algona. The couple farmed near Britt until 1988, at which time they moved into Britt.

Louie loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also liked new farm machinery, tractors and new cars.

Louie was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Britt. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV and American Ex-POWs.

Louie is survived by his wife, Joan; three children, Susan Sweers, of Omaha, Neb., Larry Sweers and his wife, Michele, of Iowa Falls, and Jeanie Stickman and her husband, Mike, of Grimes; five grandchildren, David, Dan, Jake, Jennifer and Joe; three sisters, Carrie Schaefer, of Britt, Lucille DeWaard, of Corwith, and Janet Moldenhauer and her husband, Clint, of Forest City; three brothers, Ben Sweers and his wife, Mary Rose, of Britt, Elmer Sweers and his wife, Francine, of Britt, and Herman Sweers and his wife, Sally, of Britt; sister-in-law, Margaret Sweers, of Woden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant sons and a brother, Jake Sweers.

META M. BOHN

GARNER - Meta M. Bohn, 91, of Garner, passed away Monday (Aug. 23, 1999) at the Concord Care Center, Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kay Hooper officiating. Interment will be at the Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner, and will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Meta Marie Bohn, the daughter of Reinhold R. and Minnie (Straatman) Lemke, was born Dec. 5, 1907, on a farm in Liberty Township, south of Garner. She attended rural school in Liberty Township and graduated from Garner High School in 1926. She taught rural schools for four years.

On May 26, 1930, she was married to Carl W. Bohn in Des Moines. They made their home in Garner. In 1933, Carl and Meta purchased the funeral home and furniture store from Rex Shannon. They continued to operate the Bohn Funeral Home until they retired in 1976.

Meta enjoyed her family, church work and cooking.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the UMW. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and a member of a homemakers group.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth L. Tompkins and her husband, Claire, of Garner; and a son, Richard G. Bohn and his wife, Karen, of Duncanville, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jay Tompkins, Julie Bahlmann and her husband, Richard, Steve Bohn and his wife, Jackie, and their son, Jackson, Alan Bohn and his wife, Pamela, Michael Bohn and his wife, Nancy, and their children, Brandon, Aaron and Karissa, Richard E. Bohn and his wife, Sue, and his daughter, Jeni, Christina Chapman and her husband, Todd and their children, Brittany, Kendra and Meagan and Ted Bohn; and a special family member, Missy Bohn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, Feb. 20, 1999; her parents; two brothers, Walter Lemke and Reuben Lemke; and a sister, Irene Yanoski.
