YPSALANTI, Mich. - Rex Lyle Reynolds, 57, of Ypsalanti, Mich., formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Thursday (Sept. 2, 1999) at his home.

The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Starck Funeral Home, Ypsalanti, Mich. is in charge of arrangements.

OSAGE - Opal B. Schupfer, 86, of Osage, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at the Riceville Community Rest Home, Riceville.

MARCELLA PERSEY

NORA SPRINGS - Marcella Persey, 72, of 806 First St. S.W., Nora Springs, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

ORLANDO R. OLSON

LAKE MILLS - Orlando R. Olson, 81, of Lake Mills, died Thursday morning (Sept. 2, 1999) at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, in Hanlontown, with the Rev. David Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Memorial Cemetery , Lake Mills.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Orlando Rule Olson was born Sept. 29, 1917 at Hanlontown, the son of Edward and Julia (Pederson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, in Hanlontown and graduated from Hanlontown High School in 1935.

On Sept. 25, 1940, he was united in marriage to Leila C. Folkers at Melvin, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Joice area for many years. Leila passed away on Feb. 8, 1991.

Orlando was one of the originators of the Joice Elevator Board, served on the Lake Mills School Board and on church councils at both Salem Lutheran in Lake Mills and Bethany Lutheran in Joice.

On Dec. 26, 1992, he was united in marriage to Mavis Halvorson at Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown. They made their home in Lake Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis Olson, of Lake Mills; his children, Arlouene and her husband, John Bothun, of Rochester, Stanley and his wife, Joanie Olson, of Adel, Edward and his wife, Julia Olson, of Joice; six grandchildren; stepchildren, Gary and his wife, Suzanne Banzhaf, of Gilbert, Ariz., Lyle and his wife, Lonna Hansen, of Clear Lake and Nancy Fandel, of Ventura; six stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Quisling, of Clear Lake.

Orlando was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and one half sister.

HECTOR J. NEWMAN

MASON CITY - Hector J. Newman, 92, of 812 N. Connecticut Ave., died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Randy Nielsen, pastor at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery , Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel and continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday.

JANICE M. STANTON

MASON CITY - Janice M. Stanton, 65, of 970 S. Rhode Island Ave., formerly of Greene, died Thursday (Sept. 2, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, with Monsignor Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , in Greene.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary service.

BUFFALO CENTER - Raymond Steenblock, 85, of Buffalo Center, died Monday (Aug. 30, 1999) at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery , Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home.

FOREST CITY - Palma Teslow, 80, of Forest City, died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 1999) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Forest City, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery , in Decorah.

GREENE - Vivian I. Bramer, 81, of 108 N. High St., Greene, died Friday (Sept. 3, 1999) at the Liebe Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with a 7:30 p.m. Scripture service. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

JANICE M. STANTON

MASON CITY - A funeral mass for Janice M. Stanton, 65, of 970 S. Rhode Island Ave., formerly of Greene, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, with Monsignor Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery , Greene.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene, with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary service.

Janice Marie Schmitt was born June 7, 1934, in rural Marble Rock, Floyd County, a daughter of Lorence and Anna (Krempges) Schmitt and died Thursday (Sept. 2, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

She received her education at St. Mary's School in Roseville and later attended Immaculate Conception School in Charles City. During this time she worked at the Woolworth store in Charles City. As a pastime she enjoyed playing the accordion and roller skating. After her graduation in 1953, she attended Gates Business College in Waterloo.

On Aug. 13, 1955, she was united in marriage to Roger Louis Stanton at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City by Monsignor Smith. This union was blessed with four children. They started farming in 1959 west of Greene and in 1966 moved to the Stanton family farm, where they lived until May 1997, when they moved to Mason City. In recent years Janice worked for the Paddle Inn in Greene and later worked part-time at the Hobby Lobby and Discovery Shop.

Janice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was a great cook and who took great joy in providing all the little extras in life such as baking apple and rhubarb pies for her family. Her interests included working in her flower garden, where she raised geraniums, pansies and marigolds, and making quilts. She was a member of the Greene Quilting Club and the North East Iowa Quilters Club.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene, a member of St. Judes Circle and St. Mary's Guild, Coldwater Community Club, Westside Club, and a 4-H leader for many years.

Living family members include her loving husband, Roger, of Mason City; three daughters, Diane (Andy) Stout of Perry, Sandra (Jim) Russ of Edgewood, Angie Stanton and her friend, Dale Bathke, of Mason City; one son, Steve (Kathy) Stanton of West Des Moines; ten grandchildren, David, Michael and Emily Stout, Jessica, Christopher, Brett and Elisa Russ and Mark, Laurie and Kim Stanton; three sisters, Joanne (Clint) Brannon and Donna (Donald) Schwickerath, both of New Hampton, and Mary (DeBlonde) Johnson of Owatonna, Minn.; one brother, Lawrence (Nancy) Schmitt of Charles City; and a sister-in-law, Lois Schmitt of Ames.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald Schmitt.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Janice M. Stanton Memorial Fund in care of the family.
