ISABELLE MILLER SWENSRUD

NAPLES, Fla. - Isabelle Miller Swensrud, 92, of Glenview Pelican Bay, died Tuesday (Aug. 31, 1999) in her home

Private graveside services will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to charity in her name.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 Eleventh St. S., Northwood, is in charge of the local arrangements.

Isabelle Miller Swensrud was born Oct. 7, 1906, in Adrian, Mich. She graduated from Radcliff College in 1928 and was married to Sidney A. Swensrud of Northwood on May 10, 1929.

They lived in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Ligonier, Pa., and Naples, Fla., becoming full-time residents of Naples in 1984. She was a member of the Naples Yacht Club, Hole in the Wall and former member of the Port Royal Beach Club.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lois S. Reid and her husband, Donald, of Naples, Fla.; her son, Stephen B. Swensrud and his wife, Karen, of South Hampton, N. H., and Naples; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Sidney A. Swensrud, in May 1996.

SOPHIA (MRS. CHARLIE) ROETHLER

CHARLES CITY - Sophia (Mrs. Charlie) Roethler, 91, a former resident of 106 Rob Roy Lane, died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 1999) at Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Mark Anderson, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside memory Gardens south of Charles City.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at the church for an hour prior to the service.

HENRIETTA RIZZO

FOREST CITY - Henrietta Rizzo, 69, died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice, Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery , Forest City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City.

DOUGHERTY - Helen (Campbell) Mullen, 87, died Wednesday (Sept. 8, 1999) at her daughter's home in Western Springs, Ill.

KENSETT - Fred Faber, 72, died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) at the Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly - (515) 454-2242.

RAYMOND LEWIS DOMBROWSKI

MASON CITY - Raymond Lewis Dombrowski, 78, of 711 15th Place N.E., died Tuesday (Sept. 7, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery , with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. with a scriptural prayer service beginning at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Raymond Lewis Dombrowski Memorial Fund.

Raymond Lewis Dombrowski was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., son of Stanley and Gertrude Dombrowski. Ray grew up in Chicago and graduated from St. George High School in Evanston, Ill. He was a weatherman in the 8th Air Force stationed in England.

He married Jean Rose Mary Lambert on Jan. 18, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City. They lived in Chicago for a year following their marriage and then moved to Mason City,where Ray worked as a salesman at Borden's for 33 years until retiring in 1980. He then worked part time at the Mason City Shopper, Campbell's Soup and Northrop King Seed Company for the past 11 years.

Ray enjoyed gardening and betting the ponies and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards.

Ray was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Parish for the past 50 years. He was also a member of the Exchange Club, the VFW and the American Legion. He also volunteered at the Hospital and served as the first male president of the Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Dombrowski, of Mason City; four children, Richard Dombrowski and his wife, Cindy, of Esko, Minn., Deborah Barsness and her husband, Jerry, of Mason City, Robert Dombrowski and his fiancee, Patricia Fitzgerald, of Severna Park, Md., and Diane Strelow and her husband, Richard, of Golden Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren, Jeremy Barsness, of Iowa City, Amanda Barsness, of Mason City, Nathan Dombrowski, of Esko, Minn., and Colin Strelow, of Golden Valley, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Dombrowski; and a granddaughter, Emily Barness.

EDNA MAYE BOHNING ALDRICH

BELMOND - Edna Maye Bohning Aldrich, 91, passed away Tuesday (Sept. 7, 1999) at Belmond Health Care Center, Belmond.

Private Family services will be held. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery near Rowan.

Visitation for the public will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond.

Edna, the daughter of William P. and Jennie Steenblock Bohning, was born March 23, 1908, on the family farm near Belmond. She grew up in the Belmond area, where she attended country schools. Edna graduated from Belmond High School in 1926, where she received her normal training. After high school Edna taught country school in Pleasant Township and Iowa Township near Belmond.

Edna was united in marriage to R. E. Lee "Fox" Aldrich Jr. on July 19, 1930, at the Congregational Church parsonage in Clarion. The couple made their home on the family farm southeast of Belmond. Edna continued her teaching at country schools until 1934. The couple remained on the family farm their entire married life. Mr. Aldrich passed away May 4, 1981.

Edna was first of all a housewife and mother. She maintained the household, not only for her husband and children, but also for all employees of the Aldrich farming operation. Edna enjoyed arranging flowers. She was a member of the Progress Club, American Legion Auxiliary and Farm Bureau Women.

Edna is survived by one daughter, Joan Rietz and her husband, Roger, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Jerry Aldrich and his wife, Bertha, of Alden, and Lee Aldrich and his wife, Lynne, of Belmond; eight gradnchildren, Steve, Doug, Carol, Thomas, Sarah, Forrest, Todd and Lance; four great-grandchildren, Danny, Brian, Kaitlyn and Caroline; one sister, Faye Trager of Rowan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Bill Bohning; and one foster brother, Arthur Conners.

FRED D. FABER

KENSETT - Fred D. Faber, 72, of rural Kensett, died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) at the Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery , in Manly, with military graveside honors by the San Juan VFW from Mason City.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, with a public scripture service at 7 p.m.

Fred D. Faber was born in Latimer, Iowa on Dec. 22, 1926, the son of Peter and Signe (Larsen) Faber. He attended school in Tommerup, Denmark; Sheffield and one year in Waterloo until being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving overseas in Manila and Japan during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Helen Scholl on April 23, 1949, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell. After their marriage, together they farmed in the Sheffield area until moving to Hanlontown in 1954 where they continued to farm until his retirement in 1991, but still continuing to live on the farm.

He enjoyed dancing, cards, traveling, bowling, wintering in Texas, exercising, reading and boating.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, was trustee and on the parish council at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, member of the Resurrection Church in Alamo, Texas, Eagles Lodge in Albert Lea, Minn., San Juan VFW in Mason City, North Central Community School Board member from 1968 until 1974, Hanlontown Elevator Board Member and was very active in other community activities in the North Iowa area.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Faber, of Kensett; a daughter, Bev Kaduce, of Clive; a son, Tom Faber and his wife, Irene, of Kensett; four grandchildren, Jennifer Malone and her husband, Travis, of Drexel, Mo., Justin Faber, of Kensett, Sara Miller and her husband, Dale, of Emporia, Kan., and Ann Kaduce, of Emporia, Kan.; three stepchildren, Jason Rollene and his wife, Courtney, of Laramie, Wyo., Melissa Sporaa, of Clarion, and Ryan Rollene and his wife, Amy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dylan Sporaa, Ethan Rollene, and Kaleob Rollene; one sister, Johanna Van Houten, of Mason City; one stepsister, Anna Larsen, of Elk Horn; and one sister-in-law, Grace Faber, of Mason City; as well as other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Signe Faber; stepmother, Petra Faber; and two brothers, Lee and Richard Faber.

NICHOLAS D. 'NIC' LENZ

CLEAR LAKE - Nicholas D. "Nic" Lenz, 13 year-old son of Mark and Lisa Lenz, of 6 S. 19th St., died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake and again from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. There will be additional visitation one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the Nicholas D. Lenz Memorial Fund.

Nic was born Oct. 14, 1985 in Mason City, the son of Mark and Lisa (Bachellor) Lenz.. He was in the eighth grade in Clear Lake Middle School.

Nic enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, cooking pancakes for the family, his Saturday morning trips to the Village Store, riding horses, babysitting little kids, riding his bike, and his animals, and he was a Chicago Bull fan.

He was a Globe-Gazette carrier.

He was a confirmed member of the United Methodist Church of Clear Lake and a member of the United Methodist Church Youth Group.

Nic is survived by his parents, Mark and Lisa Lenz, of Clear Lake; his brother, Dustin Lenz, of Clear Lake; maternal grandmother, Helene Bachellor, of Clear Lake; paternal grandparents, Gayle and Carol Lenz, of Riverside, Calif.; paternal great-grandmother, Alice Sessions, of Mason City; four aunts, Patty Biery and her husband, Dan, of Mason City, Lori Adams and her husband, Brad, of Northwood, Laura Bachellor, of Charles City, and Lynn Bachellor, of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Bachellor, in 1983.
