FRED D. FABER

KENSETT - Fred D. Faber, 72, of rural Kensett, died Thursday (Sept. 9, 1999) at the Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly with the Rev. Thomas McAndrew officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Manly with military graveside honors by the San Juan VFW from Mason City.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, with a public Scripture service at 7 p.m.

Fred D. Faber was born in Latimer, Iowa, the son of Peter and Signe (Larsen) Faber. He attended school in Tommerup, Denmark; Sheffield; and one year in Waterloo until being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving overseas in Manila and Japan during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Helen Scholl on April 23, 1949, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell. After their marriage, together they farmed in the Sheffield area until moving to Hanlontown in 1954 where they continued to farm until his retirement in 1991, but still continued to live on the farm.

He enjoyed dancing, cards, traveling, bowling, wintering in Texas, exercising, reading and boating.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, was trustee and on the parish council at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Manly, member of the Resurrection Church in Alamo, Texas, Eagles Lodge in Albert Lea, Minn., San Juan VFW in Mason City, North Central Community School Board member from 1968 until 1974, Hanlontown Elevator Board Member and was very active in other community activities in the North Iowa area.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Faber, of Kensett; a daughter, Bev Kaduce, of Clive; a son, Tom Faber and his wife, Irene, of Kensett; four grandchildren, Jennifer Malone and her husband, Travis, of Drexel, Mo., Justin Faber, of Kensett, Sara Miller and her husband, Dale, of Emporia, Kan., and Ann Kaduce, of Emporia, Kan.; three stepchildren, Jason Rollene and his wife, Courtney, of Laramie, Wyo., Melissa Sporaa, of Clarion, and Ryan Rollene and his wife, Amy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dylan Sporaa, Ethan Rollene, and Kaleob Rollene; one sister, Johanna Van Houten, of Mason City; one stepsister, Anna Larsen, of Elk Horn; and one sister-in-law, Grace Faber, of Mason City; as well as other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Signe Faber; stepmother, Petra Faber; and two brothers, Lee and Richard Faber.

ANN MARIE FRANK

OSAGE - Ann Marie Frank, 84, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Champion Funeral Home, Osage. A rosary will begin at 3 p.m. and a wake service at 7 p.m.

Ann was born on Aug. 11, 1915, in Fayette County, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Kerin) Marolt. She married Orville Frank of Elma, Iowa, on June 23, 1947, at Fairchance, Pa.

She is survived by two sons, Bill Frank and his wife Sue and their children, Stephen, Kirsten, Heidi and Tina of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Dick Frank and his wife Shirl and their daughters, Christa of Forest City and Cari Lillquist and her husband Steve of Forest City; two great-grandchildren, Zachariah and Ryleigh Lillquist of Forest City; one brother, Joe Marolt and his wife, Mary Anne, of Latrobe, Pa.; three sisters-in-law, Verona Frank of Elma, Marian Frank of Elma, and Wilma Frank of St. Ansgar; and several nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville in 1982; two sisters; and two brothers.

VERNA L. SKILLEN

GREENE - Verna L. Skillen, 69, of 11196 Grand Ave., died Sunday (Sept. 12, 1999) at her home in rural Greene.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Greene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, with a public scripture service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church Wednesday.

LOTTIE E. PETTINGER

MASON CITY - Lottie E. Pettinger, 88, of 843 Sixth St. SW, died Sunday (Sept. 12, 1999) at Heritage Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

JULIUS H. EASTVOLD

RAKE - Julius H. Eastvold, 87, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at his home in Rake.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake with Dr. Jennifer Edinger officiating. Burial will be at United Lutheran Cemetery at Frost, Minn.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center.

Julius Herman Eastvold, the son of Andrew and Serina (Soma) Eastvold, was born June 2, 1912, on a farm near Montrose, S. D. He spent his childhood there and was a graduate of Montrose High School. In 1937 Julius moved to a farm near Frost, Minn., with his family.

On June 4, 1941, Julius was united in marriage to Bessie Durby at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake. This union was blessed with five sons: Allen, Merlin, James, Paul and Darrell. They made their home on farms near Frost, Wells, Leland and Thompson, and in 1955 they moved to a farm that they had purchased east of Rake where they presently live.

Julius served on the Creamery Board in Thompson and co-op Elevator Board in Rake. He also served as church deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher at Zion Lutheran Church and on the St. Luke's Lutheran Home board in Blue Earth, Minn.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bessie of Rake; five sons, Allen and his wife, Pat, of Forest City, James and his wife, Fran, of Des Moines, Paul and his wife, Karilyn, of Springfield, Ill., Darrell and his wife, Ginny, of Mankato, Minn., 12 grandchildren, Tim of Forest City, Darla Evenson and Matthew of Lake Mills, Jeffrey of Patterson, Joshua and Janna of Des Moines, David and Philip of Springfield, Ill., Jonathan of Washington, D.C., Renae Schenk and Darin and Todd Eastvold of Mankato, Minn.; a step-granddaughter, Pam Cooper of Des Moines; seven great-grandchildren, Scott, Drake, Amelia Jo, Haley, Reid and Jacob; a sister, Ordella Furland of Forst Minn.; a brother, Jake and his wife, Lillian, of Buffalo Center; two sisters-in-law, Marion Eastvold of Blue Earth, Minn., and Elaine Eastvold of Litchfield, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Merlin LeRoy; two brothers, Arnold and Barney; and two sisters, Corrine Frandle and Bertha Eastvold.

MILDRED LEINBACH

BELMOND - Mildred Leinbach, 88, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at Belmond Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Belmond with the Rev. Celestyne DeVance and the Rev. Janet Wearda officiating. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and will resume one hour prior to service time at the church Wednesday.

MASON CITY - Nancy Groth, 64, of 636 S. Tennessee Place, died Monday (Sept. 13, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

NINA S. CHRISTOPHER

EAGLE GROVE - Nina S. Christopher, 100, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Eagle Grove, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at the John C. Lincoln Hospital, Phoenix.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove.

MILDRED A. LEINBACH

BELMOND - Mildred A. Leinbach, 88, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) at Hospice Care in the Belmond Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Belmond United Methodist Church, with Pastor Celestyne DeVance and Pastor Janet Wearda officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, 516 First St. S.E., in Belmond, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Mildred was born May 24, 1911, to Oscar and Clara Jacobson, in Belmond. She graduated in 1928 from Belmond High School. In 1932, she graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. After graduating she taught high school English for two years in Beaver Falls, Minn.

In 1934, she was married to Dr. Samuel P. Leinbach. They returned to their home community of Belmond, where he established his medical practice. Mildred had a life-long love of the community of Belmond and was an active supporter of many community activities. She was a member of the Belmond United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was a member of the women's group, participated in study groups and served in many work areas. This past year, she was a member of the quasquicentennial committee.

Some of Mildred's other activities included the Belmond Hospital Auxiliary, League of Women Voters, Progress Club, Belmond Arts Council, reading and study groups, and PEO. She was a strong supporter of school activities and other community events throughout her life. Additionally, Mildred was a member of Wright County Medical Auxiliary, the Iowa Rural Health Association, the Iowa Medical Auxiliary and Federated Women's Clubs.

Foremost in Mildred's life was her deep faith and love of her family. She is survived by her children, Samuel P. (Patricia) Leinbach Jr., of Winchester, Va., Carol (Richard) Goeman, of Midland, Mich., Bruce (Susie) Leinbach, of West Covina, Calif., and Joan Leinbach, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Samuel P. Leinbach Sr.; her parents, Oscar and Clara Jacobson; and her sister, Carol.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Belmond Community Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice. Cards may be sent to the family of Mildred Leinbach, P.O. Box 302, Belmond, Iowa 50421.

LOTTIE E. PETTINGER

MASON CITY - Lottie E. Pettinger, 88, of 843 Sixth St. S.W., died Sunday (Sept. 12, 1999) at the Heritage Care Center.

Private family graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Memorial Park Cemetery , with the Rev. Bill Poland of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.

There was no visitation. The body was cremated at Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Memorials may be given to the Lottie E. Pettinger Memorial Fund.

Lottie was born Jan. 10, 1911, in Wright County, the daughter of John and Sadie (Frakes) Nickles. She married Donovan Pettinger in February of 1930. They moved to Mason City in 1944.

Lottie worked at the Carter & Gilles Toy Store in Mason City for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Harrington and her husband, Paul, of Mason City; grandchildren, Terry Harrington and his wife, Karen, of Mason City, Cheryl Loveland, of Mason City, Pattie Held and her husband, Robb, of Mason City; great-grandchildren, Sara, April, Toby, Cody, Jeremiah, Angelica and Cassidy, all of Mason City; and one brother, Wilbur Nickles, of Belton, Mo.

Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and three brothers.
