Clyde Harold Klossing Jr.
November 13, 1944 - January 12, 2006

Clyde Harold Klossing, Jr., 61, of West Burlington, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Great River Medical Center.

Born November 13, 1944 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama he was the son of Clyde Harold, Sr. and Lora Hawthorne Klossing. On May 9, 1986 he married Linda K. Key in Burlington.

Mr. Klossing was a repairman for J. I. Case Company for 38 years retiring in March of 2002. He participated in many local and state pool tournaments and won many awards including a Valley National 8 Ball State Championship. He played for Whitey’s Bar and Grill “Old Timers” on Monday, the Dugout on Tuesday and the Buffalo on Thursday. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Klossing of West Burlington; three daughters, Kim (Tim) Allaman and Lisa (Curtis) Rice both of rural Oquawka, Illinois, and Wendy (Jason) Spiker of Stronghurst, Illinois; one son, Chris (Kelly) Klossing of Mount Pleasant; one step daughter Marta (Jerald) Frost of Burlington; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two sisters, Wanda Kelly of Osage Beach, Missouri and Linda Schrock of Stronghurst.

His parents; one infant brother, Steven Klossing; and one infant son, Timothy Klossing, preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established for West Burlington Volunteer Fire Department.

Nevaeh Anne Knox

December 17, 2005

- Interment: Aspen Grove Cemetery

Nevaeh Anne Knox was born still at 7:23 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

She was the daughter of Earl Knox and Chasity Trotter of Burlington.

Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents Bethanne Jurgensen of Burlington and Rick Trotter of Newton; paternal grandparents Earl and Patricia Bostic of Burlington; and maternal great grandparents David and Clarice Trotter of Newton and Paul and Shirley Jurgensen of Grinnell; and paternal great-grandparents, Marthella Knox and Willie Knox, both of Burlington.

A memorial has been established.

Mary Anna Koett
June 14, 1941 - January 16, 2007

There will be no visitation

Mary Anna Koett, 65, of West Burlington, Iowa, died at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at Morning Sun Care Center.

Born June 14, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Marion and Mary Irene Sherman Simpson. She married Robert Arthur Koett. They later divorced.

Ms. Koett worked and as a waitress and cook for George’s Pizza. She was of the Catholic faith.

Ms. Koett loved her pets and showed them at many shows with Jan Sullivan. She was a past member of the Shar Pei Society, Burlington Humane Society and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Robert A. (Jodie) Koett of Appleton, Wisconsin, Christopher E. (Jean) Koett of West Burlington, Iowa and Vinton J. Koett of Morning Sun, Iowa; one daughter, Elizabeth Irene Hollenbach of Appleton, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a few great-great grandchildren.

Her parents and companion, Harold “Doc” Harmon preceded her in death.

John Henry Koger
August 30, 1946 - December 27, 2006

John Henry Koger, 60, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 8:16 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2006, at his residence. Born August 30, 1946 in Burlington he was the son of Claud and Edna Belle Lincoln Koger.

Mr. Koger was a Burlington High School graduate and worked as a laborer in construction. He was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. He liked to hunt, fish and collect Burlington memorabilia. He loved his gardening and yard work, but his passion was his dog “Jake”.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Edna Belle Koger of Burlington; two sisters, Carol Magdefrau of Springdale, Arkansas and Norma Thye of Mediapolis, Iowa; and two brothers, Larry Koger and Clancy Koger both of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

His father, Claud Koger; one brother, Charles Koger; grandparents, aunts and uncles preceded him in death.

Hazel Irene Krell
July 31, 1926 - December 17, 2005

- Memorial Service Pending in Lyndon, Kansas

Hazel Irene Krell, 79 of Burlington, and formerly of Topeka, Kansas; Lyndon, Kansas; and Clear Lake died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Great River Medical Center’s – Klein Center in Burlington.

Born July 31, 1926 in Mason City she was the daughter of Ray and Pearl Runyan Faulk. On September 14, 1946 she married Billie Glen Krell in Mason City. He died April 17, 1991.

She was a graduate of Mason City High School and earned her teaching certificate from Mason City Junior College.

Mrs. Krell was the manager of an abstract company for Osage County in Lyndon, Kansas from 1968 – 1988. She was of the Methodist faith. She was involved for 30 years in Girl Scout leadership for Flint Hills Council, Kansas and enjoyed needlework, playing bridge, and ballroom dancing.

Survivors include three daughters, Robyn Krell of Cedar Rapids, Sandy Krell-Andre of Burlington, and Kim Cook of Moscow, Idaho; two sons, Richard Krell of Sauk Village, Illinois, and Shane Krell of Lyndon, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine Dunn and Betty Lou Alexandres both of Mason City.

Her husband, parents, and one brother preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established for Great River Medical Center’s – Klein Center Extended Care, c/o Lunning Chapel, 2620 Mt. Pleasant St., Burlington, IA 52601.

Doris Christine Kulp
February 26, 1921 - May 19, 2007

According to her wishes, the body of Mrs. Kulp has been cremated.

Mrs. Doris Christine Kulp, 86, of Burlington, died at 3:59 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 in Great River Medical Center.

She was born February 26, 1921 to Elmer John and Maude Anna Hanson Barnes. She married Harry William Kulp on September 6, 1940 in Burlington. He died June 27, 1985.

Doris was the Minister of Caring and Calling for First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ for 27 years. She was a member of the Lydia Circle at First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ, the Women In Ministry Group, Professional Church Leaders of Burlington and was nominated for Outstanding Woman of the Year award.

She was a 1939 graduate of Burlington High School and was in the National Honor Society and the Girls Athletic Association of BHS.

Survivors include three daughters, Carole L. (Rev. Dean) Benton; Joyce E. Kulp and Christine D. Heyd all of Burlington; two granddaughters Deborah Benton-Johnston of Auburn, Indiana and Casee R. Kulp of Iowa City, Iowa; one grandson Douglas D. Benton of Center Point, Iowa; three great-grandchildren; sister Betty (Peter) Retterath of Lidgerwood, North Dakota; many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, parents three brothers Robert “Bobby” Barnes in infancy, James “Jim” Barnes and Donald Barnes preceded her in death.

William Joseph Kunze
October 26, 1922 - September 5, 2006

-Friends May Call: Sunday, September 10th, 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM
-Family Visitation: Sunday, September 10th, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM
-Funeral Service: Monday, September 11th, at 10:30 AM in Lunning Chapel

-Inurnment: Aspen Grove Cemetery , Burlington, Iowa
According to his wishes, the body of Mr. Kunze will be cremated following the funeral

service.

William Joseph Kunze, 83, of Burlington, Iowa died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at Great River Medical Center.

Born October 26, 1922 in Glatz, Germany he was the son of Reinhold and Anna Reichel Kunze. On September 16, 1947 he married Charlotte C. Schuff in Burlington. She died August 21, 1997. On February 14, 2000 he married Marjorie Bell in the chapel at Christ the King Church in Mesa, Arizona.

Mr. Kunze was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Burlington, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War II serving as a medic in the Army Air Corps. He worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone (US West) in maintenance in the central office for over 36 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a 50-year member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus since 1944, Moose, Eagles and American Legion. He wintered for several years in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed square dancing, winemaking, gardening, roses, picture frame making, woodworking, golfing and camping. He also made chairs of macramé.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Bell of Burlington; one son, John Kunze of Nauvoo, Illinois; one daughter, Gretchen Greer of Ottumwa, Iowa; one step daughter, Judy Worley of Sperry, Iowa; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great grandson; three step great grandchildren; and one sister, Anne Bishop of Burlington.

His first wife and parents preceded him in death.
