MADELINE L. DEWEY

BRITT - Madeline L. Dewey, 74, passed away Friday (Oct. 1, 1999) at the Westview Care Center, Britt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Britt with the Rev. Robert Dodge officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery , Britt.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.

Madeline Lena Dewey, the daughter of Franklin and Margaret Roner, was born July 23, 1925, at Sydney, Australia. She attended school in Australia and later worked in a factory.

On Sept. 2, 1944, Madeline was married to Charles H. Dewey in Sydney, Australia, while he was in the service. After their marriage, she came over to the United States and settled in Britt. Madeline worked at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital for 34 years mostly taking care of newborns in the nursery. She retired in 1987.

She was a devoted and loving mother, loved to dance and made lots of articles with her knitting.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Dewey, of Britt; a son, Charles A. Dewey and his wife, Margaret, of Nokomis, Fla.; a daughter, Betty A. Duff and her husband, Bill, of Sydney, Australia; four grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Lisa and Billy; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Brodie and Grace; three sisters, Alda Kendell, Ann Grotto and her husband, Alf, and Olga Giles, all of Australia; and many friends and acquaintances.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

PAUL F. WUNSCH

GREENE - Funeral service for Paul F. Wunsch, 88, of 404 North Bluff, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene with Pastor Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in Rose hill Cemetery , Greene.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene where there will be a public scripture service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church Monday.

Paul Frederick Wunsch was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Bielefeld, Germany, a son of Alexander and Helena (Schonbier) Wunsch and died Friday (Oct. 1, 1999) at the Liebe Care Center in Greene.

At the age of thirteen, he came to the United States with his parents and one sister settling in Kanawha and later moving to Dumont. His early education was in Germany and later in the Dumont Public School. During his sophomore year he left school to help his father in his hardware store. In 1935 they moved the store to Bristow. During World War II he lived in Fremont, Neb., where he worked in a defense plant at Mead, Neb. He later lived in Des Moines where he worked for Green Colonial Furnace Company. In the fall of 1944 he moved to Greene where he and his father had purchased the Salsbury Plumbing and Heating Shop. He has lived in Green since that time.

On Sept. 16, 1939, he was married to Nola Kurtz of Geneva at the Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. To his union four children were born.

He was baptized on Sept. 10, 1911, at Sieken Lutheran Church in Bielefeld, Germany, and was confirmed a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Greene, on April 7, 1946. In his younger years he served on the Church Council and in recent years participated in the Men's Bible Study Group. He was a member of the Greene Commercial Club and a former member of the Lions Club.

Paul enjoyed traveling throughout the United States including Alaska and Hawaii and visited his homeland on three different occasions as well as a number of countries in Europe, Central Mexico and Canada. He spent 14 winters in Texas. His hobbies included gardening, shuffle board, playing cards and dominoes. His greatest love was being with his family.

Living family members include his loving wife, Nola, of Greene; three sons and their spouses, Marlyn and Sharon, Dennis and Donna, all of Greene, Don and Janan of Ankeny; 10 grandchildren, Kim Kilen, Jean Wunsch, Melissa Wunsch, Kirk Wunsch, Lynette Jennings, Lisa Smith, Jeff Wunsch, Jeremy Wunsch, Pamela Wunsch and Jonathan Wunsch; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter and his wife, Ruth Wunsch, of Greene; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Lee Wunsch in 1947; his parents; and one sister Margarete Beninga.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Paul F. Wunsch memorial Fund in care of the family.

FLOSSIE WINDELOW

HAMPTON - Flossie Windelow, 90, passed away Saturday (Oct. 2, 1999) at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

CLARENCE STADTLANDER

MESERVEY - Clarence Stadtlander, 74, passed away Thursday (Sept. 30, 1999) in rural Franklin County.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Reformed Church in Meservey with the Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial will take place in the Meservey Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond.

Clarence, the son of Bert and Kate Meinders Stadtlander, was born Aug. 30, 1925, near Sheffield. He grew up in the Meservey area where he attended Meservey schools.

Clarence was united in marriage to Irene Ostendorf on Sept. 2, 1943, at the Meservey church parsonage. The couple made their home and farmed in the countryside surrounding Meservey for over 40 years. In 1989 they moved into Meservey. Clarence enjoyed traveling and fishing, but only went hunting only once. A farmer his entire life, he most enjoyed the spring and fall seasons.

Clarence is a past member of the Meservey School Board and served on the Meservey/Klemme Coop board. He was a life-long member of the First Reformed Church in Meservey, where he served in many capacities including Deacon and Consistory.

Clarence is survived by two daughters, Darlene Pals and her husband, Larry, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Linda Opstad and her husband, Neil, of Albert Lea, Minn.; two sons, Mark and his wife, Cyndy, of Des Moines and Bruce and his wife, Judy, of Meservey; 12 grandchildren, Michele and her husband, Derrick, Kristine and her husband, Marcus, Angi and her husband, Matt, Paul, Scott, Karissa, Danika, Styles, Kyra, Kayrene, Witnee and Westley; one great-grandchild, Talin; three step-grandchildren, Marit and her husband, Tom, Charley and his wife, Amy, and Phillip; and two sisters, Fandalene Van Horn and her husband, John, of Sheffield and Caroline Schmidt of Belmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene in 1993; a grandchild, Libbie; one sister, Irene; and one brother, Harvey.

Rebecca (Becky) Jean Paulsen

COULTER - Rebecca (Becky) Jean Paulsen, 43, died Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at her home in Coulter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Latimer. Burial will be in the Coulter Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Willim Funeral Home in Latimer. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Wanda Rogstad

LAKES MILLS - Wanda Rogstad, 47, died Friday (Oct. 1, 1999) at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. Roger Dykstra officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery , Lake Mills.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and will resume one hour prior to services at the church Monday.

Wanda Eloise Rogstad, daughter of Randolph and Marjorie (Hudson) Thorland, was born March 13, 1952, at the Forest City Hospital. She was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson. She attended elementary school in Albert Lea, Minn. After her father passed away, Wanda and her family moved to Thompson where she graduated from high school in 1970.

On Dec. 31, 1969, Wanda married Roger David Rogstad at Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson. Wanda has resided in Lake Mills since 1970. She has been partnered with her husband Roger at "Your Home Improvement" since 1979.

Her enthusiasm and spirit has enlightened family and friends. She has touched many lives. Her hobbies included cards, clubs, crafts, being with her friends and traveling. Wanda loved to shop and was known for her impeccable taste. Wanda passed away Friday, Oct. 1, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Rogstad, of Lake Mills; three children, Michael and his wife, Marie Rogstad, of Midland, Texas, Jeremy and his wife, Stacie Rogstad, of Clear Lake, Christopher Rogstad of Lake Mills; two grandchildren, Ryan and Kori; one sister, Linda and her husband, Duane Ulrich, of Des Moines; two brothers, Ozzie Thorland and Brian Thorland, both of Des Moines; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arlo and Margaret Rogstad, of Lake Mills; five sisters-in-law, Geraldine and her husband, D. J., Carpenter, of Cedar Rapids, Luann and her husband, Steve Driscoll, of St. Louis, Mo., Diane and her husband, Randy Peck, of Las Vagas, Nev., Karen and her husband, Bill Humphrey, of Lake Mills, and Sheryl and her husband, Ken Monson, of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Spencer Thorland.

LUELLA RUTH ROGGEMAN

MASON CITY - Luella Ruth Roggeman, 72, of 319 25th St. SW, died Sunday (Oct. 3, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Joel Dahlen officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and one hour before service time at the church Tuesday.

Luella Ruth Roggeman was born on Aug. 22, 1927, to Edward Louis and Nina (Helgeson) Hrubetz on the family farm near Manly. She attended and graduated from Kensett High School.

On Oct. 19, 1946, Luella was united in marriage with Harold L. Roggeman at Albert Lea, Minn.

Luella was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Mason City and was active in the church circle. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, listening to music and playing bingo.

She is survived by her son, Ron Roggeman, Mason City; a sister, Delores Johnson and her husband, Omer, Northwood; a brother, Dale Hrubetz, Manly; several brother and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Lee.
