Thompson - Rosella Burke, 90, formerly of Thompson, died Monday (Oct. 4, 1999) at her home in Richfield, Minn.

MANLY - Richard Daniel William Tietz, 91, of Manly, died Monday (Oct. 4, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly.

KAROLYN SEBBY

CLARION - Karolyn Sebby, 69, of Clarion, died Sunday (Oct. 3, 1999) at the Community Memorial Hospital, Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with the Rev. Gary Boen, of the First Lutheran Church of Clarion, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery , Clarion.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

OMAR CURTIS HANSON

BELMOND - Omar Curtis Hanson, 81, of Belmond, died Sunday (Oct. 3, 1999) at the Grand Avenue Care Center, Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Tenold Funeral Chapel, Belmond, with Pastor Lowell Halvorson of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Belmond, officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, is in charge of arrangements.

ANNA J. KISNER

MASON CITY - Anna J. Kisner, 95, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 1999) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Pamela J. Flanigan of Grace United Methodist Church and the Rev. Kenneth Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel and will continue until time of services on Wednesday.

Anna was born Feb. 21, 1904, in Dumont. She graduated from Dumont High School in 1922 and then attended the UNI in Cedar Falls. She taught rural school in Lincoln Township in Cerro Gordo County around the Wheelerwood area.

She married George H. Kisner in December of 1925. They farmed in the North Iowa area and Dumont area until moving to Mason City in 1948. Anna resumed teaching rural schools around the Dumont and Mason City area in 1945. She also taught at St. Joseph Catholic School in Mason City and Osage Catholic School until retiring in 1966.

Anna was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Rebecca Lodge IOOF #324, Dumont, and the National Retired Teachers Association.

Her interests were reading, crocheting, playing cards, volunteering for her church, community work and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one sister, Vera DeGraw, of rural Rockford; one stepsister, Wilmina Anderson, of California; one daughter, Lois Rickman and her husband, Jerry, of Drasco, Ark.; one son, Duane Kisner and his wife, Suzy, of rural Nora Springs; six grandchildren, Cindy Jorgenrud and her husband, Jerry, of Anoka, Minn., Wendy Havnen and her husband, Don, of Wichita, Kan., Lon Foreman and his wife, Nina, of Pangburn, Ark., Bruce Kisner, of Lake Forest, Calif., Greg Kisner, of Cedar Falls, and Brian Kisner and his wife, Tanya, of Apex, N.C.; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1971; her parents; one brother, one sister and one half-sister.

J. HAROLD THOMPSON

CLEAR LAKE - J. Harold Thompson, 88, of 3714 N. Shore Dr., died Monday (Oct. 4, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Clear Lake Cemetery . Military honors will be by the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

Memorials may be given to the J. Harold Thompson Memorial Fund.

Harold was born Sept. 10, 1911, in Letts, the son of Walter Phillip and Margaret (Barker) Thompson. He graduated from Letts High School in 1928, attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1932 with a degree in accounting.

Harold moved to Clear Lake as a bookkeeper and accountant for Earl Ashland. On Oct. 5, 1935, Harold married Ada Kaye Choate in Clear Lake. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944-46 as a tech sergeant. After the war, he came back to Clear Lake and worked for the Clear Lake Independent Telephone Co. as a business manager. Harold was very instrumental in the conversion to the dial system in 1956. He later became treasurer and president of the Clear Lake Telephone Company. In 1988 he retired from the phone company, but continued to serve on the board of directors. He served as the state president of the Iowa Independent Telephone Association.

Harold was a member of the First Congregational Church in Clear Lake, where he served on many boards; Clear Lake VFW; Clear Lake Noon Lions, past president; the American Legion; Masonic Lodge; past president of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce; past commodore of the Clear Lake Yacht Club; and the Boy Scout Council. Harold loved to play golf.

Harold is survived by his wife, Ada Kaye Thompson, of Clear Lake; two children, Sally Burk and her husband, Gale, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Doug Thompson and his wife, Mary, of Clearbrook, Minn.; four granddaughters, Stephanie Burk, Kristin Brown and her husband, Todd, Anna Thompson and Emily Thompson; three nieces, Margaret Ann Carter, Mary Lou Thompson and Joanne Watkins; and three nephews, James Thompson, Dr. Peter Watkins and Dr. Tom Choate.

Harold was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Arthur Thompson; and two sisters, Hazel Thompson and Mildred K. Thompson.

JACALYN M. CURLEY HARTWIGSEN

ROCKWELL - Jacalyn M. Curley Hartwigsen, 46, formerly of Rockwell, died Saturday (Oct. 2, 1999) at her home at 16212 N.E. 30th Ave., Ridgefield, Wash., of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Rockwell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bruce E. Wittern officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at the church. Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, is in charge of arrangements.

Further memorial services will be held on October 13, 1999 in Vancouver, Wash.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Jacalyn M. Curley Hartwigsen Memorial Fund.

Jacalyn Maire Hartwigsen was born on Oct. 13, 1952, in Mason City, the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Beulah (Mullen) Curley. She was both baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church. She graduated from the Rockwell-Swaledale High School in 1971. She graduated in July 1973 from the LPN nursing school at NIACC. While attending school she worked at Good Shepherd Nursing Home as an Aid and then went to work at Mercy Hospital. Following her graduation she was employed in surgery at the hospital. She continued her medical studies at NIACC, Chicago and Seattle. In 1976 she moved to the state of Washington, where she was a surgical technician with Southwest Washington Medical Center.

She enjoyed quilting and sewing, needlepoint and crocheting. She made porcelain dolls, doing plaster crafts and stained glass. She was well known for her chicken and rooster collection, having more than 1,000 collected. She also donated her time working in Romania in May 1993 with the Northwest Medical Teams International and in Mexico helping others in need. To Jacalyn everyone came first and she was known for her smiling face and great sense of humor.

Those thankful in sharing Jacalyn's life include her mother, Beulah Curley, of Rockwell; two sisters, Julie (Curley) and her husband, Ken Hanawalt, and their son, Justin, of Rockwell; Michele (Curley) Schlieger and her husband, Jay, and their daughter, Jordyn, of Portland, Ore.; and four aunts, Mary Clausen and Marcielle Freund, both of Mason City, JoAnn and her husband, Wendell Miller, of Hampton, and June Kidgell, of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and many cousins; her special friend, Martell Radford, of Portland, Ore.; and many close friends whose lives she touched both in North Iowa and on the West Coast.

She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents Eugine Mullen, and Michael and Louella Curley.

MARY ELIZABETH (BUEHLER) PERRY

VENTURA - Mary Elizabeth (Buehler) Perry, 82, of Ventura, died Sunday (Oct. 3, 1999) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis of the United Methodist Church of Clear Lake officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Memorials may be given to the Mary E. Perry Memorial Fund.

Mary was born Dec. 27, 1916, in Clear Lake, the daughter of Etna and Goldie (Goodwin) Chapman. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1935. She married George Buehler in 1938 and lived in California, Wisconsin, Chicago and Omaha, before moving back to Clear Lake. She worked at Olaf T. Hansen's for more than 25 years as a bookkeeper. Mary married Keith Perry in 1973 and they lived in Ventura.

Mary loved to sew, read and knit. She loved big band music, ballroom dancing, growing plants, her grandchildren and walking her dogs, Dolly and Baby.

Mary is survived by her three children, Brian Buehler and his wife, Diane, of Clear Lake, Diane Charney, of Halifax, Pa., and Craig Buehler and Shelia, of Dayton, Nev.; six grandchildren, Kelly Dickes and her husband, Al, of Clear Lake, Kristi Wilcke and her husband, Kevin, of Clear Lake, Robby Burke and his wife, Laura, of St. Augustine, Fla., Andy Buehler and his wife, Lisa, of Clear Lake, Tim Buehler, of LaCrosse, Wis., and Matt Buehler, of Wausau, Wis.; 10 great-grandchildren, Colby and Shelby Dickes, Ryan, Brice and Logan Wilcke, Loral and Lyle Burke, Adam and Sara Buehler and Saffron Buehler; two sisters, Cleo Prouty, of Concord, Calif., and Joann Johnson and her husband, Don, of Concord, Calif.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one brother, Clare Chapman; and one sister, Nora Urich.
