DOROTHY N. COE

PARKERS PRAIRIE, Minn. - Dorothy N. Coe, 72, of Parkers Prairie, Minn., died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at the Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Parkers Prairie.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Markham Funeral Home, Parkers Prairie, Minn.

She is survived by her husband, James Coe; children, Marilyn Winton, of Plymouth, Minn., Tom Caspers, of Mt. Vernon Wash., Terrance Coe, of Mason City, Larry Coe, of Maple Grove, Minn., Jane Speckel, of Delano, Minn., and Cheri Dodds, of Parkers Prairie; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Hoots, of Mason City; and one sister, Emma Cox, of Clear Lake.

Thompson - Sidney Wubben, 57, of Thompson died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Thompson.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Winter Funeral Home, 245 Harrison St., Thompson.

EUNICE M. STANGLER

MASON CITY - Eunice M. Stangler, 79, of 1002 Second St. N.E., died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, following a brief illness.

A funeral Mass for Eunice Stangler will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with Father Kenneth Gehling officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City.

Friends may call from 2 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, with a Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary recited at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 p.m. led by the K of C Council #1006 of Mason City.

Visitation will continue from 8:15 until 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning at the Fullerton James Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stangler, the former Eunice Magdeline Scholl, was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Burchinal, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Koppen) Scholl Sr. She moved with her family as a young child to Rockwell. It was there that she graduated from Rockwell Community High School.

On Nov. 18, 1939, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell, she was united in marriage to Edward William Stangler Sr. Mr. Stangler preceded her in death on July 5, 1991, in Mason City.

For 10 years, Mrs. Stangler was employed at Winnebago Industries, Forest City, in the Stitchcraft Dept. For 20 years, she was a cook at the Knights of Columbus Council #1006 Hall in Mason City, retiring in 1997.

Eunice's church life was important to her. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Mary Magdeline Circle of the church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. On Wednesdays Eunice volunteered at St. Joseph's Catholic School. She also served as a volunteer at the Community Kitchen.

Eunice was meticulous in her yard work and flower gardening, tending to her own lawn mowing every fourth day, and her own snow removal. Eunice loved the trips she shared with her dear friend, Betty Kranz, especially traveling to play the slot machines.

Those thankful for sharing Eunice's life include two children, Edward "Bill" Stangler and Patricia "Pat" Livers and her husband, Frank, all of Mason City; a brother and his wife, Victor "Bud" and Wilma Scholl, of Rockwell; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Stangler; six brothers, Joseph A., Lawrence, Charles, Edwin, James and Richard Scholl; a sister, Ethel Ackerman, and one grandson.

HAROLD A. MEERDINK

OSAGE - Harold A. Meerdink, 86, of Osage, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Osage, with the Rev. Rick Magstadt officiating. Interment will be in the Orchard Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Harold was born Jan. 19, 1913, at Lake Andes, S.D., the son of J.H. and Louise (Beck) Meerdink. The family moved when Harold was a child to a farm west of Nashua. He attended country school and graduated from Nashua High School. Harold later graduated from the St. Paul Bible Institute and Nyack College, in Nyack, N.Y. After college, Harold farmed with his father.

On Jan. 10, 1940, Harold married Ruth Ford, of Orchard, at Mason City. They farmed east of Orchard until 1980, moving to Osage in 1985.

Harold was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Osage, where he was a church elder, church board member and was the church treasurer for many years. He served on the Osage Community School Board and was a St. Paul Bible College Trustee for many years.

He was survived by his wife, Ruth Meerdink, of Osage; two daughters, Joyce Ramsey and her husband, Mike, of St. Anthony, Minn., and their son, Kyle; Rosemary Mader and her husband, Bob, of Hopkins, Minn., and their son, Aaron, and their daughter, Emily; two sons, Keith Meerdink and his wife, Lois, of Salem, Ore., and their daughters, Anita and Katie Dwight Meerdink, of Orchard; and one brother, Floyd Meerdink, of Charles City.

He was preceded by his parents.

ANDREW FRANK HESSE

CHARLES CITY - Andrew Frank Hesse, 90, of Charles City and formerly of Clarksville, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, Clarksville, with the Rev. Val Swinton officiating. Burial will be in the Lynwood Cemetery , Clarksville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville.

HAMPTON - Flossie M. Windelow, 90, of Hampton died Saturday (Oct. 2, 1999) at the Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, with Merle and Joyce Wagner officiating. Inurnment will be in Hampton Cemetery , Hampton.

HAMPTON - Robert W. Ward, 80, of Hampton, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at the Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, with the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hampton Cemetery.

MASON CITY - William B. Lyghtner, 84, of Mason City died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services are tentatively set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Chapel, 123 Second St. S.E. Mason City.

Visitation will be held Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
