Her family was with her to celebrate her life and to see her on her journey to the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.

The 31-year-old daughter of Herbert and Patricia (Berger) Pannkuk was born in Buffalo Center, on June 23, 1968 and graduated with honors from Buffalo Center-Rake High School in 1986. She served as editor of the BC-R Annual her junior year and was president of the Senior Class of '86.

Like many of her siblings she enjoyed working part-time at Wilson's Super Valu during her high school years.

She began classes at the University of Northern Iowa in the fall of 1986. Symptoms from Multiple Sclerosis continued to accelerate. She therefore discontinued the pursuit of a college degree to concentrate on her health, family and faith.

The Courage Center in Golden Valley, Minn., a rehabilitation center that teaches independent living and coping strategies, was her residence for 18 months. There she learned the importance of using all her talents to the fullest and that even though her disease had disabled her body, her mind and spirit could still conquer many challenges.

Family, faith, love and devotion were the central themes in her life. She provided the gift of perspective to everyone she met and she had the unique ability of bringing people together. She helped us realize what was really important and we have been blessed to have known her.

Her nieces, nephews and godchild shared her hobbies of gifts, crafts and games. Their adoration of Aunt Paula was evident whenever they visited. She was a gentle soul to climb on and cuddle with.

Paula is survived by her parents, Herb and Pat Pannkuk, from Buffalo Center; brother, Mike Pannkuk, wife, Mary and their children, Sarah and David, from Owatonna, Minn.; sister, Dorothy Lemke and husband, Duane, from Bettendorf; brother, Bob Pannkuk and wife, Patty and their daughter, Kirstin Marie, from Woodbury, Minn.; sister, Mary Christensen and husband, Mark, and their daughter, Anne Marie from Quincy, Ill.; brother, Mark Pannkuk and wife, Lisa and their children, Conrad and Ella Rose, from Cedar Rapids; sister, Karen Luken and husband, Randy, from Mason City; grandmother, Florence Berger, from Forest City.
