LEONARD PAUL FEUERHAK

NORTHWOOD - Leonard Paul Feuerhak, 81, of Northwood, formerly of West Bend, Wis., died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North Ninth St., Northwood.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 99-11th St. S., Northwood, is in charge of the local arrangements.

Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Oct. 21, with funeral services at noon on Thursday at the Deronda Lutheran Church in Deronda, Wis., with the Rev. Don Feuerhak and the Rev. Ron Feuerhak, sons of Leonard Feuerhak, officiating. Burial will be in the Deronda Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Williamson Funeral Home, 222 Harriman N., Amery, Wis. is in charge of those arrangements.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Bend, with the Rev. Victor Hackbarth and the Rev. Oscar Kraft officiating.

The family of Leonard Paul Feuerhak has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Deronda Lutheran Church, Our Savior's Lutheran Church in West Bend, First Lutheran Church in Northwood, or to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, in his memory.

Leonard Paul Feuerhak was born in Ridgeway, the son of William and Emma (Neuman) Feuerhak. He was baptized in the Ridgeway Lutheran Church on Nov. 26, 1918, and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery, Wis. on June 18, 1933.

He attended and graduated from the Osceola High School in Osceola, Wis. On May 13, 1941, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving overseas in the East Indies, Papua, Bismarck Archipelago, Luzon, and New Guinea in the Pacific Theater as a machine gunner during World War II. He received his honorable discharge on Aug. 16, 1945.

He was united in marriage to Ardis Iverson on March 23, 1946, at the Deronda Lutheran Church. After his marriage he attended telegraphy school and started working as a depot agent for the Chicago Northwestern Railway. Most of his working career was spent in West Bend and Milwaukee until his retirement in 1978 after 30 years as a depot agent.

He enjoyed yard work, gardening and flowers, but his great love and enjoyment was his church, family and grandchildren.

He was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in West Bend. He attended the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, and was a former member of the Deronda Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ardis Feuerhak, of the Maple Court Apartments in Northwood; two sons, the Rev. Don Feuerhak and his wife, Barb, of Cedar Falls, and the Rev. Ron Feuerhak and his wife, Sue, of Northwood; four grandchildren, Jennifer Shila and her husband, Paulo, of Omaha, Neb., David Feuerhak and his wife, Roxie, of Luther, Lisa Feuerhak, of Coralville and Ann Horness and her husband, Doug, of Elkhart; one great-granddaughter, Susan Horness; one sister, Marlan Fredrickson and her husband, Willard, of Helotes, Texas; as well as other relatives and friends.

His parents, one grandson, Paul Feuerhak, one brother, Harold Feuerhak, and a sister-in-law, Amy Feuerhak, preceded him in death.

ELMER WESSELS

KLEMME - Elmer Wessels, 74, Klemme, died Sunday (Oct. 17, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, with Pastor Georgia White-Kisslring officiating. Interment will be in the Ell Township Cemetery , Klemme, with Military Rites by the Klemme American Legion.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home in Klemme and will continue one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.

Elmer Wessels, the son of Leppo and Pauline (Reichardt) Wessels, was born on June 7, 1925, in Avery Township southeast of Klemme. He was baptized in the Immanuel Reformed Church of Klemme on Sept. 7, 1926, and joined the Immanuel Reformed Church in 1953.

Elmer attended rural schools at Liberty Center and Avery Center, both rural Klemme. He attended Klemme High School for two years and worked for several years on farms in the Klemme and Clarion areas before being drafted into the United States Army in January of 1949.

He was discharged in January of 1950 and served in the United States Army Reserves. On Oct. 10, 1950, Elmer was called back into the Army and served in Korea until Sept. 1, 1951, during which time he received three Bronze Stars.

On Oct. 18, 1952, he married Gladys Christians at the Methodist parsonage in Belmond, with the Rev. J. Heber Miller officiating. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Klemme. He had been employed by the Klemme Co-op Grain Company for 39 years when he retired in 1987.

Elmer was a member of the Klemme Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years, serving as fire chief for 10 years. He served on the Slippery Elm Golf Course board for 12 years, on the Klemme City Council for six years and was a member of the Klemme Lions Club for several years.

Elmer was also a member of the Adam-Schafer Unit 625 of the American Legion. He was involved in many activities of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and an elder.

He enjoyed fishing, refinishing furniture and woodworking. Elmer especially enjoyed traveling, sports, golfing, camping and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys, of Klemme; brother, Paul Wessels and his wife, Ann, of Denver, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Amanda Wessels, of Kelmme, and Freda Wessels, of Belmond; four very special nieces, Arlene Harson and her husband, Bill, of Kanawha, Lavonne Doane and her husband, Eldon, of Thornton, Sharon Frank and her husband, Roger, of St. Ansgar, and Karon Clements and her husband, Jim, of Cedar Falls; a special nephew, Larry Wessels and his wife, Carol, of Rockwell; and many other nieces, a nephew and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a sister, Martha; and seven brothers, Fred, William, John, Raymond, Benjamin, Bennie and Henry.

EDWIN F. SCHULTZ

MASON CITY - Edwin F. Schultz, 85, of 1612 S. Coolidge Ave., died Sunday (Oct. 17, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland officiating. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S. E., and again one hour prior to services at the Church.

Edwin was born on April 10, 1914, at Hawkeye, the son of John and Augusta (Ohmann) Schultz. He has been a 71-year resident of Mason City. During his early years he attended Mason City High School and then worked as a pattern maker for four years at the Mason City Foundry. He later moved to Vallejo, Calif., where he worked in the shipyards. He joined the Air Force in 1942 and served his country honorably in China, Burma and India, being discharged from Camp Grant, Ill., in 1946. He then returned to Mason City, where he again became a machinist for 38 years at the Lehigh Portland Cement plant, retiring in 1988.

On March 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Helen Klemensen Stepleton in Mason City. To this union was born one son.

Edwin was a long-time charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was active with the Boy Scouts of America. He was Cub Master for Pack 4 and then served as commissioner for Winnebago Council. He served as an officer of the United Lime and Gypsum Union and enjoyed doing anything and everything in woodworking. He did hydraulic work and enjoyed talking politics with everyone. He loved to read books about history and watched the Discovery Channel. He was especially proud of his garden and his CBIVA for serving in India. He belonged to the Ostomy support group Mason City Chapter #79.

Those thankful in sharing Edwin's life include his wife of 51 years, Helen, Mason City; his son, John C. and his wife Peggy Schultz, of Clear Lake; One brother, Donald and his wife, Ann Schultz, of Monrovia, Calif.; nine grandchildren Cory, Carrie, Jason, Joseph, Andrea, Jeffery, April, Amber and Brittany; five great-grandchildren; and one niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Leona Neiderman, Freda and Alma Schultz and Amelia Draeger.

DALLAS GALE LAUDNER

SANTEE, Calif. - Dallas Gale Laudner, 75, of Santee, Calif., died Friday (Oct.15, 1999) at his California home.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon, Calif. His cremated remains will be inurned in the sea, which he loved.

Dallas was born on March 6, 1924, in Butler County, the son of Joney and Ruby Laudner. He graduated from Rockford High School in 1941. During high school and for a period following he was employed by Waller Produce. He then owned and operated a cafe in Rockford, later working at the Oliver Plant in Charles City and driving school buses for the Rockford school district.

He took an active role in the community and served on the city council. Dallas and his twin brother, Delbert (better known as Itch and Scratch), were two of few people who were baptized by the Methodist minister in the Shell Rock River and later were confirmed at the Methodist Church.

After diligently trying to enter the service he was inducted into the United States Navy, where he served as a water tender 3rd class from March 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1953 he moved to San Diego and in 1956 he moved to Santee, where he had resided ever since. He was employed as a night shift supervisor at Solar International Harvester until his retirement.

Dallas was a member of VFW Post #9327 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Santee. He often could be found fishing in the ocean and traveled with his friends to LA Bay and Castro's in Mexico to pursue his passion. He shopped often, tended his gardens and watched the San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres play. Santee will never be the same without his raising havoc with his cart.

Those thankful for sharing Dallas's life include his three daughters, Cindy Meyers, of Lakeside, Calif., Georgene and her husband, John Green, of El Cajon, Calif., and Janet Laudner, of Santee, Calif.; two sons, Daniel Laudner, of Lakeside, and Joe and his wife, Marla Laudner, of El Cajon; five grandchildren, Michael Laudner, of Waterboro, S.C., Joshua Meyers, of Davis, Calif., Kyle Laudner and Greg Laudner, both of El Cajon, Calif., and Jamie Meyers, of Lakeside, Calif.; ten brothers and sisters, Lois and her husband, Charles Schultz, of Glendale, Ariz., Wava Uker, of Rockford, his twin brother, Delbert and his wife, Mary Lou Laudner, of El Cajon, Calif., Maxine and her husband, Roger Fullerton, Lorraine Van den Brand, Ronald and his wife, Mary Ellen Laudner, all of Rockford, Pete and his wife, Eileen Laudner, of Corcoran, Minn., Sandra and her husband, George West, of Palm City, Fla., Larry and his wife, Mary Laudner, of Chula Vista, Calif., and Diane Massee, of Rockford, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

WESLEY - Wilma Meyer-Skow, 55, of Wesley, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.

MASON CITY - Catherine Mary Arndorfer, 49, of 2636 S. Benjamin Ave., died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, of Ovarian Cancer.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware Ave.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
