CATHERINE MARY ARNDORFER

MASON CITY - Catherine Mary Arndorfer, 49, of 2636 S. Benjamin Ave., died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, of ovarian cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware Ave., with the Rev. Frederick J. Wood and the Rev. Kurt Rutz, brother-in-law to Catherine, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Mercy Cancer Center.

Catherine was born April 26, 1950, in Ida Grove, the daughter of John Otto and Mary Ellen (Owens) Jacobs. She graduated from Maple Valley High School, Mapleton, Iowa, in 1968 and from Emmanuel Hospital School of Radiologic Technicians, Omaha, Neb., in 1970.

Catherine married Thomas Arndorfer on May 28, 1977. Prior to moving to Mason City in 1991, Catherine worked at Kossuth and Humboldt county hospitals. Catherine worked at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and in 1995 became board certified as a technologist in nuclear medicine.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and enjoyed vacationing with her family at Lake Okoboji.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Mason City; two daughters, Kristine and Elizabeth at home; father, John Jacobs and wife, Norma Jean, of Mapleton; sisters, Carol Burton and husband, Bruce, of Manly, Joan Rutz and her husband, the Rev. Kurt, of Paola, Kan., and Patricia Jacobs, of Inwood; brothers, Dennis Jacobs and his wife, Kim, of Kansas City, Mo., and Donald Jacobs and his wife, Anjanette, of Wichita, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ellen Jacobs.

CHARLES CITY - Aletha (Mrs. Larry) Brewer, 65, of 2223 Underwood Ave., died Monday (Oct. 18, 1999) at the Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Revs. Dennis Niezwaag and Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until noon on Friday. There will be visitation one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

MEYER-SKOW

WESLEY - Wilma M. Meyer-Skow, 55, of Wesley, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetary, Whittemore.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona.

CORWITH - Louise J. Miller, 84, of Corwith, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at the Kanawha Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Corwith, with the Rev. Kim A. Gates officiating. Burial will be in the Corwith Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Corwith.

Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Corwith, is in charge of arrangements.

ST. ANSGAR - John Henry Rasmussen, 86, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, in St. Ansgar.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

JOHN HENRY RASMUSSEN

ST. ANSGAR - John Henry Rasmussen, 86, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the Woodbury Cemetery , rural Lyle, Minn.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

John Rasmussen was born on Nov. 9, 1912, to Peter and Ida (White) Rasmussen in Deer Creek Township, Worth County.

John was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on Sept. 8, 1929, by the Rev. Olaf Langhough. He received his education at the Deer Creek No. 6 country school in Worth County.

On Dec. 31, 1935, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Foss in Albert Lea, Minn. To this union one daughter, Ramona, was born. John and Evelyn farmed near London, Minn., until retirement in 1975. They then moved to St. Ansgar, where John enjoyed helping his son-in-law, Craig Patterson, with planting and harvesting. Being a kid at heart, John also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine sisters, three brothers and a grandson in infancy.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Ramona and her husband, Craig Patterson, of St. Ansgar; two granddaughters, Julie and husband, Chris Paulson, of St. Ansgar, and Kim and husband, Kent Karschnik, of Mountain Lake, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Autumn, Bryce, Ashley and Andre; one sister, Emma Skjeveland, of St. Ansgar; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. MAURICE KENNETH SQUIER

OSAGE - Maurice Kenneth Squier, 89, of St. Ansgar, formerly of Osage, died Tuesday (Oct. 19, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage, with the Rev. Ted Stowers officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage.

Maurice was born May 21, 1910, in East Lincoln Township, Mitchell County, near Orchard, the son of Joseph and Louise Ann (Earl) Squier. He attended Orchard schools.

He married Ione Blanchard on April 6, 1947, at Algona. They made their home in the Orchard and Osage area. In his younger years, Maurice worked on several farms near Orchard. In the early 1950s, he moved to Osage and was employed by the City of Osage. Later, he worked as a truck driver for many years. He returned to work for the City of Osage at the disposal plant and then retired in 1985.

After retirement, he enjoyed going to the Osage Senior Center and taking rides in the country. Maurice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osage and a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Maurice is survived by one daughter, Joyce LaRue and her husband, Loyd, of Unionville, Mo.; two sons, Gerald Squier and his wife, Christie, of New Port Richey, Fla., and James Squier and his wife, Kathy, of St. Ansgar; six grandchildren, Lori, Tom, Leslie, Melody, Jamie and Jason; and many great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Replinger, of Hamilton, Ill.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ione; one son, Charles; one daughter, Jacqualyn; three brothers, Roy, Earl and Lawrence; and three sisters, Irene, Grace and Ruth.

WHITTEMORE - Elliott Waldschmidt, 83, of Whittemore, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at the Good Samaritan Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whittemore. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery , Whittemore.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 until 8 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Whittemore, with a 3 p.m. parish rosary and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

ALGONA - Robert A. Barone, 65, of Algona, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at the Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery , Algona.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service.

LAVINA A. HANNAM

ST. ANSGAR - Lavina A. Hannam, 92, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
