IRMA HERRICK

MASON CITY - Irma Herrick, 95, formerly of Mason City, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) in West Des Moines.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

KAREN HART

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Karen Hart, formerly Karen Zimmer, died Sept. 27, 1999 at her home in Santa Rosa.

Mrs. Hart was born May 15, 1941, in Chicago. She moved to Mason City with her family when she was a teenager. She spent much of her adult life in Marshalltown, volunteering extensively for such organizations as the YWCA and the Marshalltown Assistance League. She served as president of the Central Iowa Art Association. She graduated from Drake University, Des Moines, and relocated to California in 1984. Mrs. Hart worked as an interior designer and decorator since that time; she moved to Santa Rosa in 1990.

Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Gildner.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Gildner-Blinn, of Troy, N.H.; her parents, Mildred and Robert Zimmer, of Sonoma, Calif.; her sister, Linda Rosenberg, of Orinda, Calif.; and her brother, Clemente Hernandez, of Tucson, Ariz.

A memorial service was held on Oct. 10, 1999, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to Commonweal, P.O Box 316, Bolina, CA 94924, or to the Charles H. MacNider Museum, 303 Second St. S.E., Mason City, IA 50401.

EDNA E. HAAG

MASON CITY - Edna E. Haag, 84, formerly of 1135 15th St. N.E., died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at the I.O.O.F. Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Curtis DeLong, of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the Edna E. Haag Memorial Fund.

Edna E. Haag was born April 29, 1915, in Emmetsburg, the daughter of William J. and Emma (Arbigast) Haag. She attended school in Emmetsburg, and at the age of 16 her family moved to Mason City, where she completed her education.

Edna worked at Decker's Packing Co. for many years. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Mason City. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and cared for her father in his elder years. For the last several years, Edna has lived at the I.O.O.F. home in Mason City.

Her family includes her sister-in-law, Bernice Haag, of Mason City; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lloyd, Virgil, Grant and Earl; and one sister, Pearl.

JOHN O'BANION

MASON CITY - John O'Banion, 74, of Mason City, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City.

EUGENE R. ELDRIDGE

MASON CITY - Eugene R. Eldridge, 78, of 822 Ninth St. S.E., died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rolling Acres Free Methodist Church, 340 20th St. S.W. , with the Rev. Wayne Ryan officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery , with military rites conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be given to the Rolling Acres Free Methodist Church.

Eugene was born May 2, 1921, in Waldorf, Minn., the son of Russell D. and Zella P. (Wyborny) Eldridge. He graduated from Mason City High School, then served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II before being discharged in November of 1945.

Eugene married Twyla Ayers on April 6, 1946. Eugene worked for Mason City Mayflower Warehouse, Northwestern States Portland Cement and retired in May of 1984 after 18 years at Allied Mills.

Eugene married Cleo Shreckengost on Feb. 14, 1981. He was a member of Rolling Acres Free Methodist Church, where he was chairman of the Trustees, an avid gardener and all-around handy man.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Cleo, of Mason City; son, Richard Eldridge and his wife, Judy, of Mason City; daughter, Sharilyn Proscovec and her husband, Richard, of Mason City; son, Ronald Eldridge and his wife, Judy, of Arvada, Colo.; son, Randal Eldridge and his wife, Donna, of Mason City; son, Rodrick Eldridge, of Ames; 12 grandchildren, Keri, Todd, Bob, Brad, Mindy, Steve, Candy, Jeff, Cheryl, Chad, Angella and Sara; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Eldridge and his wife, Doris, of Perry, and Reeve Eldridge and his wife, Maxine, of Clear Lake.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Twyla; and one son, Robert.

JAY ANDERBERG

WEBSTER CITY - Jay Anderberg, 47, of Webster City, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at Hamilton Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Amsterdam Cemetery , west of Kanawha, with the Rev. JoAn Skyrme officiating.

The body was cremated. There will be no visitation. The family will receive friends at their home.

LAVINA AMELIA ANNA (BEYER) HANNAM

ST. ANSGAR - Lavina Amelia Anna (Beyer) Hannam, 92, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville where she had lived for a year and a half.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with the Rev. Daniel Wee officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery , St. Ansgar.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 South School St., St. Ansgar.

Lavina Amelia Anna (Beyer) Hannam was born May 29, 1907, to Albert W. and Martha (Lemke) Beyer. She was one of a family of 12 children, born on a farm in Newburg Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

She was baptized on July 14, 1907, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Rock Township, Mitchell County, by Pastor Johannes Becker. She was confirmed on April 9, 1922, at St. John's Lutheran Church by Pastor John Gemachlich. She spent her childhood on the farm where she was born and attended school in Newburg Township.

She worked at various places until her marriage to Herbert Hannam at the Methodist parsonage in St. Ansgar, Iowa, by the Rev. I.S. Haverfield on Aug. 3, 1926. Five children were born to this union. They lived on several farms before settling on a farm near Toeterville, where she was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Duane; brothers, George, Julius, Joseph, August, William and Albert; sisters, Ida Teal, Selma Kittleson, Hilda Stonehocker and Ruth Beyer, who died in infancy; and one great-granddaughter, Leslie Thrond.

Survivors include her four children, Herbert Hannam and his wife, Gertrude, of Cedarburg, Wis., Darlene Anderson and her husband, Robert, of Wichita, Kan., Eugene Hannam and his wife, Shirley, of LeRoy, Minn., and Harlan Hannam and his wife, Arlys, of Coralville; one daughter-in-law, Norma Hannam, of St. Ansgar; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hedwig Bork, of St. Ansgar.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Ansgar First Responders or St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville.

MARY MINNIE BRADEN

MASON CITY - Mary Minnie Braden, 88, of 302 13th St. S.E., died Thursday at the Manly Care Center, Manly.

The body was cremated. There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Friends Church, 527 N. Kentucky Ave., with the Rev. Spencer Thury officiating. Inurnment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery , Mason City.

JOHN EDWARD O'BANION

MASON CITY - John Edward O'Banion, 74, of 401 21st St. S.E., died Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., with the Rev. Michael Schueller officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., with a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m.
