HAMPTON - Ione S. Meyer, 82, died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, with the Rev. Wayne Dobratz officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery , rural Hampton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.

MONICA EARL

STACYVILLE - Monica Earl, 85, died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Visitation Church Hall in Stacyville, with a rosary beginning at 3 p.m. and a scripture service at 7 p.m.

Other arrangements are pending at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, (515) 732-3706.

EVELYN (WALTKINS) MCKERCHER

MANLY - Evelyn (Watkins) McKercher, 99, died Thursday (Jan. 6, 2000) at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, with the Rev. Robert Cumings officiating. Burial will be in Manly Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, and one hour prior to service time at the church Tuesday.

The family of Evelyn McKercher has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.

Evelyn (Watkins) McKercher was born on Aug. 19, 1900, in Logansport, Ind. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1923, she moved to Mason City, where she was a librarian with the Mason City public Library.

She was united in marriage to Clair Albert McKercher on March 19, 1927. They farmed together on the family farm from 1927 to 1972, when they moved to a new home at 226 West Spring Street in Manly.

Clair preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1976. Evelyn continued to live in Manly until moving to the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, where she resided until her death Jan. 6, 2000.

Evelyn enjoyed flowers and traveling around the United States, but her great love and enjoyment was her family.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, Heatherhill Chapter 493 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Manly, Manly Camera Club, Friendship Circle, and other community and civic organizations.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Elinor (McKercher) Sorenson, and son-in-law, Charles W. Sorenson, Evergreen, Colo., and Margaret (McKercher) Morgan, New Berlin, Wis.; two sons, John C. McKercher, Rio Verde, Ariz.., and Theodore and daughter-in-law, Marletta McKercher, Omaha, Neb.; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clair Albert McKercher; and two brothers, Ross and Clair Watkins.

ROSE STRACHOTA

TAMA - Rose Strachota, 93, formerly of 308 West Fifth St., Tama, died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Tama. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon today at Hand's Funeral Chapel, Tama-Toledo. The family will greet friends from 5 to 6 p.m. at the chapel today.

CLYDE M. REINSBACH

ALGONA - Clyde M. Reinsbach, 72, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Algona.

Visitation will begin after 2:30 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with a rosary at 3 p.m., a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m.

LYLE "SKINNY" PATTON

HAMPTON - Lyle "skinny" Patton, 92, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at Franklin General Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

RAYMOND DITSWORTH

BANCROFT - Raymond Ditsworth, 83, died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Heritage Nursing Home, Bancroft.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft with the Rev. Paul Bormann officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery , Bancroft, with a military graveside service by the Bancroft American Legion.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Bancroft.

MONICA EARL

STACYVILLE - Monica Earl, 85, died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Interment will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today at Visitation Church Hall in Stacyville with a rosary beginning at 3 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m.

Monica was born April 25, 1914, near Stacyville, the daughter of John and Mary (Curry) Hofmeister. She received her education at Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville, graduating in 1932.

Monica married Ralph Green on April 15, 1936, in Stacyville. He died in 1951.

Monica married George C. Earl on Oct. 15, 1960, in Stacyville. He died in 1993.

Monica lived in Stacyville her entire life. She was employed by Dr. T. E. Blong and Dr. Robert Smith and later was the bookkeeper for the Stacyville Coop Creamery.

Monica was a member of the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Theresa Hackenmiller and her husband, Leon, of Stacyville; grandchildren, Mary Jo Wilson, her husband, Goeff, and their children, Brittany and Morgan, of Rochester, Minn., Jean Knoepke, and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Joseph and Ryan, of Rochester, Minn., Larry Kramer and his wife, Sandy, and their children, Jeremy, Tara and Kayla, of Byron, Minn., Michael Hackenmiller, of Ventura, Julie Weir and her husband, Scott, of Grafton, Kathy Arnold and her husband, Steve, and their children, Madison and Sam, of Northwood, Susie Nettleton and her husband, Pat, and their son, Jon, of St. Ansgar, Jenny Currier and her husband, Jason, of Clear Lake, Fran Kramer, of Ames; two stepdaughters, Carol Colburn and her husband, Paul, of Waukesha, Wis., and Jane Fossum and her husband, Dick, of Big Bend, Wis.; a stepson, Frank Earl, of Ankeny; 10 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Ralph Green and George C. Earl; a daughter, Pat Kramer; a son-in-law, Leonard Kramer; three brothers, Joseph, Benedict and Vincent Hofmeister; and an infant sister, Veronica Hofmeister.

Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, is in charge of arrangements, (515) 732-3706.

DUANE R. FRANCIS

MASON CITY - Duane R. Francis, 42, of 301/2 Second St. N.E., died Saturday (Jan. 9, 2000) at his home.

LEON R. BILYEU

ALGONA - Leon R. Bilyeu, 67, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at his residence near Algona.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery , Algona. Military graveside services will be performed by VFW Post No. 2541 from Algona.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona.

DONALD F. PETERSEN

MASON CITY - Donald F. Petersen, 80, of 1717 Cerro Gordo Way, died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Douglas Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery , Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, and also one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or First United Methodist Church.

Don was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Wiota, the son of Max Carl and Martha R. (Book) Petersen. He graduated from Anita High School in 1937.

Don married Amy I. Robison Dec. 17, 1939, in Atlantic. They lived in Anita, Atlantic and Kimballton before moving to Mason City in 1966.

He worked for Safeway grocery as a meat cutter for 22 years. Following his retirement he worked for his son at Ken Petersen Builders.

Don was an active member of the evening Lions Club in Mason City and a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on various boards and committees.

Don was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Amy R. Petersen, of Mason City, his son, D. Kendall Petersen and his wife, Darlene, of Mason City; a daughter, Dianne Hansen and her husband, Lou, of Waukee; a brother, Eldred L. Petersen and his wife, Thelma, of Waukee; four grandchildren, Luanne Austin, Lesley Finn, Mark Hansen and Brian Hansen; and eight great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Julius.
