LEO W. JASS
GARNER - Leo W. Jass, 91, of Garner, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner, with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will be at the Concord Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Leo W. Jass, the son of Herman and Carolina (Grell) Jass, was born Aug. 28, 1908, on a farm northeast of Garner. After attending the rural schools of Hancock County and St. John's Parochial School, he worked for various farmers and the Hancock County Highway Department.
On March 9, 1940, he married Vola Goll, at the Peace Reformed parsonage south of Garner. They farmed at New Richland, Minn. for four years and on Dec. 13, 1943, moved to the Goll Homestead, southwest of Garner, where they farmed for 34 years, retiring to town in December of 1978. Alan and his wife, Margaret now live on the farm, which has been in the family since 1882.
Leo's special loves were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and draft horses. He enjoyed watching sports on TV and the growing of his crops.
He was a member of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church where he served on the consistory. He also served on the Hancock County Co-op Oil and Garner Creamery boards for several years and was a 4-H leader for the Liberty Go-Getters.
He is survived by his wife, Vola Jass; a son, Alan Jass and his wife, Margaret, of Garner; a daughter, Carolyn Jass, of Golden, Colo.; three grandchildren, Steve Jass and his wife, Nancy, of Garner, Mark Jass and his wife, Beth, of Garner, and Janell Smith and her husband, Mike, of Urbandale; five special great-grandchildren, Chase Jass, Trey Jass, Courtney Jass, Kiersten Jass and Zachary Smith; two sisters, Edna Hammitt, of Garner and Alpha Rood, of Detroit, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Myrna Schmidt, of Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Jass; and four brothers, Emil, Arthur, Otto and Arnold Jass.

RUDD - Mildred (Mrs. Raymond) Koehler, 92, formerly of 1770 Hickory Ave., died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2000) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rudd United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Debra Stower and the Rev. Richard Pippert officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery
in Rudd.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

KANAWHA - Dale E. Eliason, 48, of Kanawha, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) at his home in Kanawha.

GERALDINE 'GERE' ISHAM
OSAGE - Geraldine "Gere" Isham, 80, of Osage, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Gere was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Oxford, N.Y., the daughter of Clarence and Gladise (Crane) Follansbee. She moved with her family to the family farm near Floyd where she grew up. She graduated from Charles City High School.
Gere was united in marriage to Dr. Robert B. Isham on Dec. 24, 1942, on the family farm near Floyd. They made their home in Osage.
She was very active in the Girl Scouts, serving as a troop leader and two terms as president of the North Iowa Girl Scout Council. When Gere died, her three daughters were at her side.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash St. in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott and the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St. in Osage.
She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Meillier and her husband, Steven, of Eagen, Minn., Mary Ekeland and her husband, Craig, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Judith Bowen, of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Alexander Meillier, of Los Angeles, Calif., Bennett Meillier, of Vail, Colo., Amy Ekeland, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jane Bowen, of Des Moines; two sisters, Jean Kitcherer and her husband, Franklin, of Charles City and Marilyn Butler and her husband, Len, of Tempe, Ariz.; a special niece, Jane Isham Wheatly, of Reno, Nev.; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Ruth Sams, Maureen Blonigan, Willard and Evelyn Koch, all of Osage.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Robert B. Isham in 1993; and a sister, Betty Castle.
