EARLVILLE, Iowa - Andrew James Krapfl, newborn twin son of Alan and Kimberly (Kramer) Krapfl, of Earlville, died shortly after birth Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Private family services will be held at a later date at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville.
Surviving besides his parents, are three brothers, Brett, Clint and his twin, Alex, all at home; his paternal grandparents, Gene and Betty Krapfl, of Earlville; his maternal grandparents, Ron and Joan Kramer, of Epworth, and Jerry and Ellen Smith, of Farley; and several aunts and uncles.

SAVANNA, Ill. - Francis A. Handel Sr., 92, of Savanna, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Clinton, Iowa.
Services will be at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial of the cremated remains will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery , Savanna, at a later date.

Anna Therese Prete
CUBA CITY, Wis. - Anna Therese Prete, infant daughter of Tom and Kathy (Sahr) Prete, of Cuba City, was stillborn Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster.
A Mass of Praise will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, with the Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Casey Funeral Home, Cuba City, is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are her parents, Tom and Kathy (Sahr) Prete, of Cuba City; her brothers, Tyler, Jacob and Joshua, all at home; her maternal grandmother, Nadeen Sahr, of Lublin; her paternal grandmother, Judy (Dale) Atkinson, of Osceola; her paternal grandfather, Joe (Sheri) Prete, of Montana; her maternal great-grandmother, Mitt Vollriede, of Medford; and her paternal great-grandmother, Anne Prete, of Oak Park, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel; her maternal grandfather, Jim Sahr; her paternal great-grandfather, Jerry Prete; and her maternal great-grandfather, Bill Vollriede.
Kathryn Hale Edwards
HAZEL GREEN, Wis. - Kathryn "Kate" Hale Edwards, 88, of 1530 Scrabble Creek Drive, Hazel Green, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis de Sales Church, Hazel Green, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Casey Funeral Home, Cuba City, where there will be a parish wake service at 7:15 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mrs. Edwards worked for Mills Red Bell Store before retiring.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1914, in Monroe, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Ryan) Stauffacher. She married LaVerne Hale in 1935; he died on Nov. 13, 1970. She then married LaVerne Edwards on Dec. 29, 1976; he died on Nov. 2, 1999.
Kate loved to go dancing and socializing with her friends. She was a kind and gentle person and a wonderful cook. She was a devout Catholic and lived by her religion daily.
Surviving are two daughters, Barb (Bill) Hanfeld and Patti (Ted) Kruser, both of Hazel Green; a son, Dan (Shelia) Hale, of San Miguel, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stauffacher, of Monroe; several nieces and nephews; three stepdaughters, Charlene (Bill) Brice, Ginny (Bruce) Gill and Suzanne (Bob) Fry; six step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Richard; three brothers, Tom, Joe and Morry Stauffacher; and a sister, Harriet Erengis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grant County Hospice.
A special thanks to Dr. Mozena and his staff and the Grant County Hospice, especially Kim, Brenda and Mary Lee for all their wonderful care and concern for our mom during her illness.

MAQUOKETA, Iowa - Joel Robert Wylie, 42, of Maquoketa, formerly of Oxford Junction, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near DeWitt.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Haylock-O'Hara & Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery , rural Maquoketa.
Verlene E. Geissbuhler
DARLINGTON, Wis. - Verlene E. Geissbuhler, 73, of rural Darlington, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Meriter Park Hospital, Madison.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fayette United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Fayette Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Erickson Funeral Home, Darlington.
Dorance E. Cox
Dorance E. Cox, 93, of 2222 Cherry St., died at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Cox owned and operated Cox's Tavern for more than 20 years. He later owned and operated Cox's Drive In.
He was born on July 4, 1909, in Senica, S.D., son of Thomas and Kathryn (Hillard) Cox.
Dorance was born and raised in Senica, and moved to Dubuque in 1925. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Parish and its Holy Name and Rosary Societies.
Surviving are three sons, Dorance (Jerry) Cox Jr., of Clinton, Iowa, and William (Eileen) Cox and David (Juliana) Cox, both of Dubuque; grandchildren, Christina, Stephanie and Tony Cox, Andrea (Brad) Smith, Gregory (Shannon) Cox, Julie Cox, Cheri (Grant) Hanna, Steve (Shelly) Cox, Vicki (Joe) Judge, Tom (Caryl) Cox and Dan Cox; stepgrandchildren, Don (Mary) Wenzel, Ron (Darla) Wenzel, Julie (Jeff) Eggers, Jill (Larry) Moeller, Jack (Paula) Wenzel, Joe (Shannon) Wenzel, Teresa (Doug) Yegge, Tim (Gidget) Wenzel and Scott Wenzel; 16 great-grandchildren, 20 stepgreat-grandchildren and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madonna Flynn, of Asbury, Iowa, and Myra Welsh, of Dubuque; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Hilken, in 1958; his second wife, Monica Ballow McGuire, in 1985; his parents; three brothers, Don, Delbert and Tom Cox; and four sisters, Sister Eva Cox, OSF, Mag Hantleman, Josie Noel and Della Vorwald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Anthony's Parish.

John R. Higgins
John R. Higgins, 91, of 3095 Kane Court, died peacefully at home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, surrounded by his family.
Family services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where family visitation will be after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Higgins formerly worked as a crane operator for the Blum Company for 52 years.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1911, in Sterling, Ill., son of Hoak and Catherine (Ammon) Higgins. He married Magdalen M. Zimmerman on Sept. 17, 1940, in Bettendorf, Iowa.
John enjoyed fishing and hunting in his earlier days. He also enjoyed reading, especially mysteries and westerns. John spent many happy hours with Greta, his dog.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Magdalen M. Higgins; a daughter, Tonya K. Higgins (Gary Rice), of Gloucester, Va.; two sons, Dennis J. Higgins, of Dubuque, and Robert J. (Betty) Higgins, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Carter, Esther McCann and Ellen Long; and a brother, Richard Higgins.
