MAQUOKETA, Iowa - Vivian B. Durkop, 94, of Maquoketa, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa.

Arrangements are pending at the Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa.

Minnie M. Kinmonth

BELLEVUE, Iowa - Minnie Marie Kinmonth, 95, of Bellevue, died Thursday morning, Nov. 21, 2002, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue. At her request, her body was deeded to science. Arrangements are pending at Kingery Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue.

Bernice Hagen

WAUKON, Iowa - Bernice Hagen, 91, of Waukon, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center, Waukon, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Waukon. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home, Waukon.

Bette J. Ullenberg

MAQUOKETA, Iowa - Bette J. Ullenberg, 79, of Maquoketa, formerly of Milwaukee, died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in the Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery , Milwaukee.

Alvina A. Krogman

WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Alvina A. "Toots" Krogman, 83, of Worthington, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m. and an Altar and Rosary Society rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on July 11, 1919, in Worthington, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Jurgens) Tobin. She married Joseph C. Krogman on Jan. 15, 1947, at St. Paul's Catholic Church; he died on Oct. 10, 1969.

She received her education in the Worthington area schools. She was a member of St. Paul's Parish.

Toots will be remembered by her family and friends as a great Cubs fan, card player and always having a joke to tell. She will greatly be missed by all that knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-granny Toots.

Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Duane) Gravel, of Dyersville; two sons, John (Susan) Krogman, of Cascade, and Kenneth (Lynne) Krogman, of Worthington; six grandchildren, Michael Krogman, Anne (Kevin) Dolphin, Jason Gravel, Jodi Krogman (friend, Randy Knapp), Greg Gravel (fiancee, Sarah Schmitt), and Amy Gravel (friend, Zac Scherrman); three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Brianna and Connor Dolphin; a brother, Eugene (Dorothy) Tobin, of Worthington; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mae Zoller and Magdelene Lehnhoff; and three brothers, Alfred, George and Vincent Tobin.

A Toots Krogman Memorial Fund has been established.

Helen E. DuCharme

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Helen E. DuCharme, 83, of Prairie du Chien, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien, with the Rev. John Wambach S.J. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Prairie du Chien. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, where there will be a wake scripture service at 8 p.m.

She was born on July 23, 1919, in Viroqua, daughter of Christopher and Minnie (Bruland) Ford. She married Ivan DuCharme on June 17, 1941, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien; he preceded her in death on July 24, 1996.

She was a graduate of Vernon County Normal Teacher's College and later taught at the DuCharme Ridge School. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Parish, Seneca, and later at St. Gabriel's Parish, Prairie du Chien.

Surviving are three sons, Edwin (Marty), of Sharpsburg, Ga., Owen (Diane), of Seneca, and Glen (Janine), of McGregor; four daughters, Evelyn (Arnie McCullick) Crowley, of Steuben, Alice (Dennis) Kirschbaum, of Prairie du Chien, Myrna (Randy) Stevenson, of Seneca, and Donna (Philip) Burgess, of Prairie du Chien; a brother, Norman (Marie) Ford, of Madison; and 28 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Neal and Ivan DuCharme; a brother Ogden Ford; and a sister, Evelyn Ford.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are preferred to the Great River Care Center, St. Gabriel's Church and St. Patrick's Church.

Isabelle R. McCarthy

CASCADE, Iowa - Isabelle R. McCarthy, 84, of 305 Third Ave. S.W., Cascade, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Cascade. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a Cascade American Legion service at 3:30 p.m. and a wake service at 5:30 p.m.

She was born on April 21, 1918, in Cascade, daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Breitbach) Koob. She married Loras McCarthy on Sept. 24, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Albers officiating.

She received her education at the former St. Mary's School, Cascade. She loved being a homemaker, baking, fishing, playing cards and bingo and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade, and the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Loras McCarthy, of Cascade; three sons, Loras "L.J." (Najette) McCarthy, of Onslow, Donald (Sandy) McCarthy, of Monticello, and Ed (Sharon) McCarthy, of Cascade; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Merfeld and Mrs. Joe (Laurene) Sadler, both of Cascade, and Mrs. Paul (Hilda) Kedley, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Coletta; and six brothers, Louis, Leo, Joseph, Frederick, Paul and Nicholas Koob.

An Isabelle R. McCarthy Memorial Fund has been established.

Alice H. Shepherd Wiederhold

SHULLSBURG, Wis. - Alice H. Shepherd Wiederhold, 93, of Shullsburg, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at Southwest Health Center, Cuba City.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Centenary United Methodist Church, Shullsburg, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served in the church hall. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery , Platteville. The Furlong Funeral Home, Shullsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1909, in Platteville, daughter of Rubin and Helen (Blackman) Lorenz.

She married Orville Shepherd on Aug. 11, 1926; he died on Nov. 20, 1970. She later married George Wiederhold, of Dickeyville, on Nov. 14, 1974; he died on Oct. 19, 1997.

Lila L. Miles

LANCASTER, Wis. - Lila L. Miles, 95, of Lancaster, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at the Lancaster (Wis.) Care Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, with the Rev. Glenn Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Dodge Cemetery , Beetown Township. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster.

She was born on May 20, 1907, in Waterloo Township, daughter of Leslie and Mabel (Potter) Burton.

She married Clarence E. Miles on June 20, 1925, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Beetown Township, until moving to Lancaster in 1950.

She enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening and crocheting for friends and family. She volunteered for many years at the Grant County Meal Site, Lancaster. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are eight children, Gladys Hickok, Stanley (Rosie) Miles, Roger (Marlene) Miles, Judith (Richard) Taylor, and Susan (John) Shaw, all of Lancaster, Keith (Virginia) Miles, of Cassville; Jane Rice, of Lander, Wyo., and Cathy Rossi, of Fort Collins, Colo.; 33 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; a son, Kenneth; six brothers, Lynn, Virgil, Lloyd, Kenneth, Sylvan and Carlysle "Curly;" a sister, Thelma Hoffman; and two sons-in-law, Elgie Hickok and Stanley Rice.

In lieu of plants and flowers, a Lila L. Miles Memorial Fund has been established.

Mary M. Kraft

EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. - Mary Margarite "Maggie" Kraft, 66, of 4213 N. Knollridge Road, Peoria, Ill., formerly of Lamont, Iowa, and East Dubuque, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at home.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Dubuque. The Endsley Funeral Home, Bartonville, is in charge of arrangements.

She graduated from Lamont High School and worked as a waitress at Timmerman's Supper Club for more than 26 years. She later worked at Country Heights for about 10 years.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1936, in Lamont, daughter of Andrew and Anastacia (Fangman) Bergfeld. She married Robert John "Bob" Kraft on Jan. 7, 1960, in Dubuque; he died on April 3, 1998, in Hazel Green, Wis.

Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Kraft, of Sugar Hill, Ga., two sons, Kevin Kraft, of Peoria, and Scott Kraft, of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Lloyd Bergfeld and Edward Bergfeld, both of Lamont, and James Bergfeld, of Aurora, Iowa; three sisters, Katherine Friedman, of Peosta, Iowa, Janice Bergfeld, of Dubuque, and Linda Sullivan, of Lamont; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Bernice A. Huseman

Mrs. Rudolph P. "Rudy" (Bernice A.) Huseman, 85, of Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of 1080 Southern Ave., died at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, on her 85th birthday at the center.

Chapel services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born on Nov. 20, 1917, in Fort Madison, Iowa, daughter of Leo and Barbara (Betz) McAllister. She married Rudolph "Rudy" Huseman on Jan. 28, 1935, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Columbkille's Parish. Bernice was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Rudolph P. "Rudy" Huseman; four sons, John W. (Betty) Huseman, William P. (Sharon) Huseman, Edward P. (Mary Lue) Huseman and Jerry P. (Jean) Huseman, all of Dubuque; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Louise) McAllister, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Rita McAllister, of Dubuque; two sons-in-law, Richard Maas, of Dubuque, and Raymond Jaeger, of Holy Cross, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Jean Ann Huseman, as a child, JoAnne Maas and Barbara Jaeger; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Marian) Oswald; and a brother, Earl McAllister.

A Bernice A. Huseman Memorial Fund has been established.
