Lucille Sornberger
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Lucille Sornberger, 97, of Platteville, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Heartland Health Care Center, Platteville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, with burial in Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. today at the church. The Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1903, daughter of Frank and Daisy (Trenary) Ludlum. She grew up in the Belmont area.
She married Frank Sornberger in 1922. They farmed in the Cottage Inn community until retiring in 1944. Mr. Sornberger died in 1944, shortly after moving to Platteville.
She was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Platteville, and its Council of Catholic Women. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits and was very proud of them.
Surviving are two daughters, Della Mae Voigts, of Platteville, and Loretta Voigts, of Belmont; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Gilbert, of Beloit; and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Ludlum, of Mineral Point, and Emagene Ludlum, of Beloit.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Willard, Gilbert and Rueben Ludlum; and two sons-in-law, Roy Voigts and Homer Voigts.
In lieu of flowers, a Lucille Sornberger Memorial Fund has been established.

MANCHESTER, Iowa - Mildred A. Stephenson, 92, of Manchester, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Regional Medical Center, Manchester.
Shantell L. Winslow
BROWNTOWN, Wis. - Shantell Lynn (Broge) Winslow, 20, of Browntown, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Freeport Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lena, with the Rev. Rick Bader officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Leamon Funeral Home, Lena, Ill.
Mrs. Winslow worked for the state of Illinois Department of Occupational Rehabilitation as a personal aid.
She was born on Feb. 1, 1980, in Freeport, daughter of Ralph Calam and Gale J. Broge. She married Thomas J. Winslow on Oct. 7, 2000, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lena.
She was a former member of several area 4-H groups. She was an avid reader and enjoyed small children, watching movies and taking care of her pets.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas, of Browntown; her father, Ralph Calam, of Freeport; a sister, Ariel Calam, and a brother, Kevin Calam, both of Freeport; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Ursie Broge, and paternal grandmother, Constance Calam, all of Freeport; mother and father-in-law, James and Mary Winslow, of Darlington, Wis.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 1988; paternal grandfather; maternal and paternal great-grandparents; and a cousin.
A Shantell Lynn (Broge) Winslow Memorial Fund has been established.

DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Marie L. Becker, 84, of Dyersville, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.

Rev. Kenneth F. Fox
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Rev. Kenneth F. Fox, 92, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Platteville, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Sterling House, Omaha.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westview Methodist Church, Platteville, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery , Platteville. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1908, in Platteville, son of C. Freeling and Margaret (Daniel) Fox. He married Genevieve Cushman on May 27, 1932, in New York City; she died on Dec. 10, 1993.
He graduated from Platteville High School, Taylor University and from the Biblical Seminary in New York City. He was a member of the Missouri River Valley Presbytery. He had lived in Omaha since 1988. He pastored in Wisconsin, Illinois, Alaska Presbyterian churches, locally serving at the Carmel and Peniel churches near Rewey. He and his wife founded the Rainbow Glacier Camp in Haines, Alaska.
Surviving are a daughter, the Rev. Margaret Fox, of Lincoln, Mich.; a son, the Rev. Roy (Mary Ann) Fox, of Omaha; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Kingeter, of Grants Pass, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Rainbow Glacier Camp, Haines, Alaska.
Reed R. Goedken
ZWINGLE, Iowa - Reed R. Goedken, 30, of 106 E. Third St., Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Zwingle, died after a brief illness at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, La Motte, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the church, where there will be a parish wake service at 4 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. He was born on July 25, 1970, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Francis P. and Esther (Frommelt) Goedken.
He was raised in the Zwingle area. He attended Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and was attending Quest College in Davenport, in the computer science program. He was a member of Holy Rosary Parish.
Surviving are his parents; and a sister, Staci (Joe) Hahn, of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Amelia and Raymond Frommelt; and his paternal grandparents, Renalda and Ludwig Goedken.

BOSCOBEL, Wis. - Charlotte A. Kirschbaum, 62, of rural Boscobel, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Boscobel, with burial in the Boscobel Cemetery.

Susan A. Rettenmaier
Susan A. Rettenmaier, 58, of 2625 Anamosa Drive, died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at The Finley Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery . Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1941, in Dubuque, daughter of Clyde and Marguerite (Troy) Roberts.
She graduated from the University of Dubuque with a degree in special-education. She was a special education teacher for 20 years with the Dubuque school system, most recently with Fulton Elementary School.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church as well as the Dubuque Education Association, Iowa State Education Association and the National Education Association. She was most proud of her recent status as a grandmother. Susan enjoyed traveling and outdoor expeditions.
Surviving are two sons, James (Tracey McEwen) Rettenmaier, of Vancouver, Wash., and Jordan Rettenmaier, of Hazel Green, Wis.; two brothers, William J. (Peggy) Roberts, of Edina, Minn., and Raymond (Jo Ann) Roberts, of Dubuque; and a granddaughter, Madison Rose Rettenmaier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Jeanne Masciopinto.
Susan's family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Lally, the nurses and staff at The Finley Hospital, and in the intensive-care unit for all their wonderful care and support.
