Donald M. Kirchberg, 71, of 2290 Crissy Drive, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster, Wis.

ARTHUR, Wis. - Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Millard, 95, of Arthur, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Heartland Health Care Center, Platteville.
Coletta Ann Powell
Coletta Ann Powell, 67, of Heritage Manor, formerly of Julian Care Facility, and 605 Bluff St., died Saturday morning, Oct. 21, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Cathedral, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
She worked at the Dubuque Packing Co. when she was younger.
She was born on May 25, 1933, in Dubuque, daughter of Leo and Isabella (Imhof) Powell.
She attended Dubuque schools. She was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral and its rosary society.
Surviving are four aunts, Mrs. Armella Frye, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Bernadette Dolan and Mrs. Helen Imhof, both of Dubuque, and Mrs. Rosemary Imhof, of Waterloo, Iowa; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, William.
Memorials may be given to St. Raphael's Cathedral Parish.
James J. Schroeder
BELLEVUE, Iowa - James J. "Jim" Schroeder, 68, of 30654 Highway 52, Bellevue, died Friday evening, Oct. 20, 2000, at home of a heart attack.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery , where military rites will be accorded by the Bellevue American Legion Reveille Post 273. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, where there will be a scripture service at 5 p.m.
Mr. Schroeder was president of Jim Schroeder Construction, Inc., which he started in 1958.
He was born on March 13, 1932, in Dubuque, son of Andrew and Modwena (Crowley) Schroeder. He married Margaret "Peg" Roeder on Oct. 15, 1955, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue.
He graduated from Loras Academy in 1950. He served in the Army from Jan. 1953 until Christmas Eve, 1954.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. He was a lifetime member of the Bellevue American Legion. He also was a member of Jackson County Board of Supervisors, the Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Associated General Contractors. He served a four-year term on the Bellevue Community School Board. He was a founding member of the governing board of Operation New View. He also was a member of Tri-County Historical Society, taking an interest in the Narrow Gauge Railroad and restoring a boxcar and caboose.
He enjoyed camping, woodworking, bicycling and being a history buff. He also was an avid reader.
Surviving are his wife, Peg, of Bellevue; two daughters, Molly (Joel) Reifsteck, of Warren, Ill., and Katy (Kurt) Timmerman, of Mundelein, Ill.; three sons, Tony (Jayne) Schroeder, and Dan (Julie) Schroeder, both of Bellevue, and Andrew Schroeder, of Dubuque; 11 grandchildren, Robyn Enck, Justyn Reifsteck, Megan and Joey Timmerman, Eric, Michael, Elizabeth, and Nicholas Schroeder, Madeline and Danny Schroeder, and Caleb Schroeder; a great-granddaughter, Hope Alexandra Enck; a sister, Virginia (Bill) Collins, of St. Charles, Ill.; and a brother, Dr. Thomas (Marilyn) Schroeder, of Oconomowoc, Wis.

Josephine E. Slowey, 89, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 3009 Burlington St., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

BOSCOBEL, Wis. - Judith L. Waltz, 50, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Boscobel, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Boscobel Area Health Care.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Boscobel, with burial in the Boscobel Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon today at the church. The Thoni-Kendall Funeral Service, Boscobel, is in charge of arrangements.
Dean W. Dixon
BENTON, Wis. - Dean W. Dixon, 78, of Benton, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Lakeview Medical Center, Rice Lake.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Benton, with the Rev. Cy Weisensel officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Casey Funeral Home, Benton, where there will be a parish wake service at 3 p.m.
He was born on July 31, 1924, in Hazel Green, son of Florence Dixon. He married Phyllis Welsh on June 1, 1946, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Madison.
He graduated from high school in Hazel Green in 1942. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Louisville. Following the war, he had a milk route for five years. He then sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha for five years and then for State Farm for 30 years.
He was a member of the Hazel Green American Legion and the Benton Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren whom he loved to tease and play card games with. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and his winters in Florida. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis, of Benton; a daughter, Tricia (Marv) Puls, of Cuba City; four sons, Dennis (Mary Beth) Dixon, of Ingleside, Ill., Michael Dixon and Robert (Bridgette) Dixon, both of Benton, and Richard (Karen) Dixon, of McFarland; 12 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
Miriam H. Runde
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Miriam H. Runde, 75, of Platteville, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, with the Rev. Charles Schluter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Platteville. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 3 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
She was born on March 4, 1927, in Sparta, Wis., daughter of Lambert and Agnes (Pelzer) Hansen. She married David Runde on Oct. 2, 1954, in Sparta.
She graduated from St. Mary's High School Academy, Prairie du Chien, and then attended Marquette University, Milwaukee, where she got her associates degree as a dental hygienist.
After her formal education, she worked at the VA Hospital in Tomah and Madison. She worked as a public health teacher in Watertown and then for Jo Daviess County (Ill.) Health Department as a public health teacher. She worked for three local dentists in Platteville, Dr. Waite, Dr. Bottrell and Dr. Sproule.
Gov. Lucey appointed her to the Governors Council for Consumer Affairs, where she served for more than 20 years.
She and her husband, David, were the first husband and wife team to serve on Viterbo College Board of Advisors, which they did for 20 years. She wrote a syndicated column, "Down On The Farm," for 26 newspapers, for the NFO for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, and its altar society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is also the past head of the Madison Diocese Deanery.
Surviving are her husband, David Runde, of Platteville; two children, Lt. Col. Andrew (Tammy) Runde, of Carson City, Nev., and Dr. Lucy (Dr. Clay) Canaday, of Lockport, Ill.; four grandchildren, Katy and Sean Runde and Ben and Laura Canaday; a brother, Charles (Mary Nell) Hansen, of Goldsboro, N.C.; two sisters, Clare (Skip) Zach, of Madison, and Rita (Dr. Bill) Plummer, of Oregon; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher; her parents; an infant sister, Theresa Rose; and an infant brother, Lambert.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary's School, Platteville.
Donald R. Nauman
SHERRILL, Iowa - Donald R. Nauman, 72, of 5191 Sherrill Road, Sherrill, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Chapel services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Dubuque.
Mr. Nauman was employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. and its subsidiaries for 35 years.
He was born on June 17, 1930, in Dubuque, son of Raymond P. and Lorraine (Lucas) Nauman. He married Marjorie M. Busch on July 15, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque; she died on Feb. 9, 1999.
He was a graduate of the former Loras Academy. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America. He was an accomplished woodworker, building furniture, cabinets and a canoe. He enjoyed bowling at Riverside Bowl in various leagues.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra A. (Michael) Wurl, of Dubuque; a son, Russell D. (Diane) Nauman, of Dubuque; two grandsons, Thomas V. (Laura) Nauman, of Sun Prairie, Wis., and David R. Nauman, of Dubuque; and two brothers, Stanley (Ann) Nauman and Ronald (Pat) Nauman, both of Dubuque.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Tri-State Dialysis, 1500 Delhi, Dubuque, Iowa 52001.
The family wishes to especially thank Don's neighbors, Vonnie and Greg Jelinek, for their help and care for both Don and Marge.

WAUKON, Iowa - Deve J. Ford, 67, of Waukon, died of cancer Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery , Waukon.
