Jerris L. Nash

Jerris L. Nash, 60, of 2085 Bunker Hill Road, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 25, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

She worked for many years at the Vocational Service Center, Dubuque.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1942, in Dubuque, daughter of Gerald and Kathleen (McDermott) Nash.

Jerris loved music, dancing and crocheting. She won the hearts of all who got to know her.

Surviving are beloved friends, Carol, Jessica and Jennifer Roling and the extended Roling family, all of Dubuque; special friends, Alicia Held and Mandy Roe, both of Dubuque; all her loving friends at Area Residential Care and Vocational Service Center; and all her friends at home and at work.

In lieu of flowers, a Jerris L. Nash Memorial Fund has been established.

A special thank-you to the doctors, nurses and staff at The Finley Hospital and Wendt Regional Cancer Center.

Jennie Warner

SAVANNA, Ill. - Jennie (Dahlenburg) Warner, 86, of Savanna, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Savanna. Inurnment of the cremated remains will be in Springfield, S.D. There will be no visitation. The Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests no flowers.

Delbert E. Bowers

MONTICELLO, Iowa - Delbert Eugene Bowers, 79, of Monticello, formerly of Greeley, died suddenly Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Manchester. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery , Greeley.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester.

James B. Hurst

James B. "Jim" Hurst, 75, of 11948 Sherrill Road, died at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center- Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 2025 Jackson St. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery . Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there was a prayer service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Hurst was a truck driver for Gateway Transportation for more than 30 years.

He was born on April 11, 1928, in Blue River, Wis., son of Arthur and Eva (Orr) Hurst. He married Opal P. Greenwood on Nov. 20, 1946, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

He served with the National Guard for two years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Teamsters Union, Local 421.

He was the flagman at the Sports Bowl and at the Lancaster and Darlington, Wis., and Farley, Iowa, racetracks.

He was an avid fan of his children and grandchildren's wrestling and stock car racing. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.

Surviving are his wife, Opal B. Hurst; a daughter, Sandy D. (Loras) Wolbers, of East Dubuque, Ill.; three sons, Larry J. Hurst and Rickey J. (Kathy) Hurst, both of Dubuque, and Steve J. (Luann) Hurst, of Hazel Green, Wis.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Lucy Nichols, of Dubuque, and special friends, Stan and Bernice Robey, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Susan Hurst; and two sisters, Mrs. Smokey (Harriet) Schumacher and Mrs. David (Edna) Allen.

A James B. Hurst Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Brian Sullivan and the nurses and staff of 3 West at Mercy Medical Center- Dubuque, for their care and concern for Jim.

Melita M. Faulhaber

Mrs. Henry T. (Melita M.) Faulhaber, 84, of 2206 Woodlawn, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where the Eagles Auxiliary will meet at 4:30 p.m., and a parish wake service will be at 6:30 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 1, 1919, in Dubuque, daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Dodremont) Krier. She married Henry T. Faulhaber on June 23, 1937, in Dubuque; he died on June 9, 1982.

Melita was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary since Sept. 18, 1969, and served as past president. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Iowa Women's Bowling Association. She also played on a euchre card team for the Eagles Club.

She was a full-time homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Melita enjoyed working with her friends for the Eagles charities. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed being with them and helping them when she could. She was the most loving mom a family could ask for.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary K. (George) Sharkey, of Dubuque; three sons, Anthony J. (Carole) Faulhaber, John E. (Rose) Faulhaber and Jim L. (Jill) Faulhaber, all of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Christina Kemp, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be given to the Eagles Club, 1175 Century Drive, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.

The family wishes to especially thank the nurse and the emergency medical technicians who worked so hard to try to save Melita.

Alice C. Feally

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Alice C. Feally, 90, of Prairie du Chien, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery , both in Prairie du Chien.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien.

Wyndelle E. Rodgers

Wyndelle E. "Wendy" Rodgers, 42, of 2285 Francis St., died at 8:33 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery . Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery . Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

She was born on March 11, 1961, in New York, daughter of Wendell and Betty (Adams) Reid.

She enjoyed being outdoors. She loved her pets and plants and recently joined the Arbor Society.

She was a very loving person and was eagerly awaiting the birth of her grandson.

Surviving are her fiance, Randy Fransen, of Dubuque; a stepdaughter, Jamie L. Fransen, of Dubuque; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Wendy E. Rodgers Memorial Fund has been established.

Linda M. Hefel

Linda M. Hefel, 53, of 12256 Circle Ridge Road, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road.

She was born on Nov. 23, 1949, in Dubuque, daughter of Lester and Idabelle (Smith) Kintzle. She married Dennis J. Hefel on Aug. 29, 1970, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She drove for many field trips and helped with the Booster Club when her children were in school.

She enjoyed games, crossword puzzles and the vacations she took with her husband, children and friends.

She was a longtime member and volunteer at Holy Ghost Parish.

Surviving are her husband, Dennis Hefel, of Dubuque; five children, Angie (Mike) Breitbach, and Joe, Jeff (Sarah), Jim and Jay Hefel, all of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Andrew and Chase Hefel, of Dubuque; three stepgrandchildren, Jason, Melissa and Jeremy Breitbach, all of Dubuque; and two sisters, Donna (Don) Holzer, of Epworth, Iowa, and Karen (Ron) Mueller, of Bellevue, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, a Linda Mae Hefel Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Linda would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque and all the family members and friends who supported Linda and her family during her illness.

Norma M. Beam

Mrs. William M. (Norma M.) Beam, 74, of 222 Devon Drive, died at 2:39 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Private family committal services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Private family visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednes-day at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

Mrs. Beam was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for 30 years until her retirement in 1982.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1929, in Dubuque, daughter of Francis and Angeline (Herkes) Apel.

She was a graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. She married William M. Beam on Aug. 13, 1955, in Lancaster, Wis.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 150.

Norma's life centered around her family. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking cakes and crocheting. She was a very loving and caring person. She was an angel and will be missed by all who loved her.

Surviving are her husband, William M. Beam; three daughters, Candie M. Rose, of Eldridge, Iowa, Connie M. (Larry) Frederick, of Minnetonka, Minn., and Chris M. Murphy, of Apple Valley, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Janann (John) Eudaley, of Guttenberg, Iowa, and Diane (Robert) Post, of Hastings, Minn.; a brother, Francis (Norma) Apel, of Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

A Norma M. Beam Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. William Dall for his loving care and concern for Norma.
