Gertrude M. Lang
Gertrude M. Lang, 91, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Dubuque, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 21, 2003, at Friendship Village Heath Center. She had been failing in health for several years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, Washington Park North, Indianapolis, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery.
She was born on June 6, 1912, in Dubuque, daughter of Frank and Mary (Oeth) Berg.
She moved to Indianapolis in 1963, when her husband accepted a position with American States Insurance Co. After the death of her husband, she moved to Dayton in 1993, to live with her son and daughter-in-law until health problems required continual assistance.
Surviving are five children, John (Ellen) Lang, of Dayton, Miriam (Gary) Spivey, of Albany, N.Y., Janet (Dan) Kortenkamp, of Stevens Point, Wis., Greg (Rosalie) Lang, of Phoenix, and Paul (Peggy) Lang, of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cornelius "Neil" Lang; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the charity of your choice.

WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Joseph F. Burns, 85, of 109 First St. N., Worthington, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington.

Peter J. Jungblut, 50, of 2240 Pasadena Drive, Apt. 4, died Saturday morning, Aug. 23, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoffman-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 5 p.m.
He was born on May 19, 1953, in Dubuque, son of Donald and Dolores (Keller) Jungblut.
He attended Hempstead High School and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, boating and bowling.
He was well known at the Kennedy Mall for the many errands and generous favors he did for anyone who needed assistance.
He was a C.B. radio enthusiast, with the handle "Big J." Although he had a lifelong handicap, he lived life to the fullest, with a very positive attitude. For the past five years, he made his home with his beloved soul mate, Mary Streif.
Surviving are his beloved, Mary Streif, of Dubuque; his mother, Dolores Jungblut, of Dubuque; two brothers, James A. (Sue) Jungblut, of Massey Station, Iowa, and Bob D. (Barb) Jungblut, of Bellevue, Iowa; three sisters, Jane Jungblut and Mary Jo (Jude) Neyens, both of Dubuque, and Lynn (Mike) Mellecker, of Hills, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don, in April 1995; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O.J. Keller and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jungblut.
The family requests no flowers. A Peter J. Jungblut Memorial Fund has been established.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. John Whalen and the dialysis staff at The Finley Hospital for the special care extended to Peter.

Adam was born on July 28, 2003, in Iowa City.
Surviving are his parents; a brother, Benjamin; a twin sister, Samantha; his maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Lois Reuter, of Key West, Iowa; his paternal grandparents, Paul and Eileen Birkett, of Dickeyville, Wis.; and Robert Purcell, of Dubuque; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Joan Purcell.
Thank-you to the University of Iowa Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and to the doctors and staff for all the care and kindness they gave to Adam and his family.

Mrs. Lorraine L. Parker, 78, of Heritage Manor Nursing Home, 4885 Asbury Road, formerly of 2725 Monastery Road, died at 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, with the Very Rev. Lyle L. Wilgenbusch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery . Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a St. Joseph the Worker Parish Christian wake service at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Parker worked as a custodian for General Services Administration for 20 years, retiring in 1977.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1924, in Dubuque, daughter of Albert and Lucille (Casteel) Weber. She married Lyle M. Parker on June 28, 1944, at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1998.
She grew up in Dubuque, and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1943. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, Gary L. (Pamela) Parker, of Mesa, Ariz., and Robert L. (Charlene) Parker, of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Lorinda Steinberg, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lauren Specht, of Dubuque; a brother, Albert (Barb) Weber, of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Wayne) Lynch, Richard (Renee) Parker and Clayton, Jason, Tim, Angie and Tom Specht, all of Dubuque, and Stacey and David Steinberg, of Jacksonville; a niece and a nephew; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and two great-grandsons.
A Lorraine L. Parker Memorial Fund has been established by the family.
Helen M. Kelly
Helen Marie (Cross) Kelly, 77, of San Diego, formerly of Dubuque, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in San Diego.
The Clairemont Mortuary, San Diego, was in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are her brother, Charles Cross, of Hazel Green, Wis.; five children, Nancy Kelly Hess, Gary Kelly and Robert Kelly, all of San Diego, Maureen Kelly Williss, of Yerington, Nev., and Michael Kelly, of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip Cross and Claire Baker-Cross; two brothers, Phillip and Frank Cross; and a sister, Evelyn Cross-Olson.
