Joseph A. Keller, 88, of 120 N. Booth St., died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Ennoble Manor Care Center.
Jeanne A. Leuchs-Hansel
Jeanne Ann Leuchs-Hansel, 48, of Cave Creek, Ariz., formerly of Dubuque, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, in the Catalina Islands, as the result of injuries sustained in a small plane crash.

OSTERDOCK, Iowa - Harry E. Borrett, 100, of Osterdock, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the Guttenberg (Iowa) Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Guttenberg, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery , Osterdock.
Muriel P. Dailey
LANCASTER, Wis. - Muriel P. Dailey, 75, of Lancaster, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Lancaster Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, with Pastor Ben Govier officiating. Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery , Potosi. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary service at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Dailey worked as an aide at the Lancaster Care Center for 18 years.
She was born on June 17, 1927, in rural Millville, daughter of Lester and Irene (Richardson) Clinger. She lived all but four years of her life in Grant County. On July 30, 1946, she married James H. Dailey.
Muriel was a member and past president of the VFW Post 2344 Auxiliary and a past president and adjutant for the Grant County DAV Auxiliary.
Muriel enjoyed dancing, fishing, playing cards and being with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, James H. Dailey, of Lancaster; seven children, Margaret (Gary) Sedgwick, of East Dubuque, Ill., Valerie Dailey, of St. Paul, Minn., Mary (Dave) Richardson, of Potosi, Jay (Rhonda) Dailey, of Albany, Trudy (Henry) Anderson, of St. Paul, Rick (Marcia) Dailey, of Lancaster; and Brian (Donna) Dailey, of Fennimore; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ilene (Donald) Todnem, of Hutchison, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gladys (Melvin) Govier and Bessie (Simon) Dague; and a great-grandchild, Sandy Kranz.
Dean D. Sevey
HANOVER, Ill. - Dean D. "Woody" Sevey, 67, of Hanover, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at St. Anthony's Medical Center, Rockford.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover, with the Rev. Sandra Bentz officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery , Hanover, where military rites will be accorded by the Hanover Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover.
Mr. Sevey worked at the Savanna Army Depot Activity, where he won many awards for innovation and excellence. He transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal in 1977, and retired on April 3, 1993, after working a total of 37 years for the government.
He was born on Monday, Jan. 28, 1935, in Elkader, Iowa, son of Clyde John and Frana Ann (Meier) Sevey. He was raised in Black Hawk Village, just outside the Savanna Army Depot. He graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1953.
He was a decorated veteran, serving in the Navy during Korea. He was president of his fraternity and graduated in 1959 from Tri-State College, Angola, Ind., with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.
Woody was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover. He loved being with his grandchildren, farming, his dogs, Stocker and Max, the outdoors, reading and watching old Western movies. He enjoyed playing cards, but hated to lose. He played a mean harmonica, which his mother had taught him to play when he was a little boy.
Surviving are daughter, Renee Wand, of Galena; three sons, Aaron (Janet) Sevey, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kevin Sevey and Trevor (Merri) Sevey, both of Hanover; six grandchildren, Mallory, James and Tyler Sevey and Samantha, Mackensie and Bailey Wand; three sisters, Joyce (Douglas) Bedinger, of Colona, Judy (Harvey) Kennedy, of Hanover, and Janice (Don) Hamill, of Dubuque; and a brother, Duane (Angie) Sevey, of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kent Sevey; two sisters, Joan Peterson and Jean Sevey; and two brothers, Paul and Don Sevey.
A Dean D. "Woody" Sevey Memorial Fund has been established.

Ernest W. Puls, 95, of the Good Samaritan Home, Postville, Iowa, formerly of 3044 Lemon St., Dubuque, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Good Samaritan Home.

Urban G. Uthe
Urban G. "Ben" Uthe, 84, of 3107 Jackson St., died at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be the parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Uthe was formerly employed at Flynn Ready Mix for 40 years, until his retirement in 1980.
He was born on April 12, 1918, in Kieler, Wis., son of John and Margaret (Brant) Uthe. He married Elda M. "Bezer" Bertjens on April 15, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler.
He served with the Army during World War II in Sicily, Africa and Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster for injuries sustained. He also was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the European Theatre Ribbon.
He was a member of Holy Ghost Parish, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9663 and the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. He was an avid euchre player and hunter. He especially enjoyed playing checkers with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Elda M. "Bezer" Uthe; three children, Thomas J. (Beverly) Uthe, of Dubuque, Janet L. (Roger) Timmerman, of Dickeyville, Wis., and Robert A. Uthe, of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Troy and Robby Timmerman and Gina, Jim, Laura and Sara Uthe; and a great-granddaughter, Little Lexi.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and nine brothers.
An Urban G. "Ben" Uthe Memorial Fund has been established.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Doug Schmid for the good care he gave to Ben through the years and thanks to all the nurses and staff of 3rd and 4th floors at Mercy Medical Center.
Evelyn A. White
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Evelyn A. White, 98, of Prairie du Chien, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the Prairie Health Care Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Prairie du Chien, with the Rev. John Wambach, S.J., officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Prairie du Chien. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Garrity Funeral Home, Prairie du Chien, until the time of departure for the church.
She was born on March 19, 1904, in Platteville, daughter of John and Henrietta (Roarig) Steffen. She married Francis White on Sept. 10, 1929, at St. Mary's Church, Platteville; he preceded her in death on May 6, 1966.
She taught at country schools in the Platteville area. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Parish and the Third Order of Carmelites.
Surviving are three sons, Roger (Sandy), of Gays Mills, Ronald (Karen), of Prairie du Chien, and Raymond (Cindy), of Sparta; a daughter, Sister Mary Roberta, of Marycrest, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert; her parents; and two brothers, Charles and Louis Steffen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Prairie Catholic Schools.
Henry L. Hammerich
Mr. Henry L. Hammerich, 76, of ManorCare Health Services, 901 W. Third St., Dubuque, formerly of 1849-330 Street, Wilton, Iowa, died at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at ManorCare.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery , Wilton. The Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.
Among survivors, is a niece, Lynda (Jeff Monroe) Hammerich, of Dubuque.
Joseph J. Timmerman Sr.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Joseph J. Timmerman Sr., 75, of Platteville, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, with the Rev. Charles Schluter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Platteville Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1927, in Jamestown Townwship, Grant County, son of Nicholas and Loretta (Schardt) Timmerman.
He married Irene Bertjens on June 22, 1948, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sinsinawa. He farmed in Platteville Township his entire life until retiring in 1982, when he and Irene moved to Platteville.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Irene, of Platteville; five children, Donna (Paul) Digman, of Platteville, Joseph Timmerman Jr., of Galata, Mont., Diana (Mark) McPhail, of Platteville, Terry (Donna) Timmerman of Gilbert, Ariz., and Kevin (Peggy) Timmerman, of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Celine (Homer) Schaefer, of Fennimore, Rosemary Oyen and Catherine (Irvin) Abing, both of Potosi, and Carol (Pete) Kaster, of Friendship; two brothers, William (Mary Ellen) Timmerman, of Cuba City, and Justin Timmerman, of Kieler; two sisters-in-law, Marge Timmerman, of Dickeyville, and Joan Timmerman, of Platteville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Henry and Jim Timmerman.
Barbara O. O'Brien
Barbara O. O'Brien, 87, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Port Orange.
Ethel Mae Barbara Osborn was born on Dec. 4, 1913, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Joseph Bentley and A. Florence (Zack) Osborn. She grew up in Dubuque, attended St. Luke's, belonged to YaWaCa and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.
When she went to Chicago to stay with her father's first cousin, Blossom Plumley, she began the use of E. Barbara and later discarded the E. and became simply Barbara.
On Oct. 1, 1938, way back when, she married W. Stanley Stuart. Seven years later they divorced. She later married Edward T. Wayte; he died in 1961. In 1963, she married William J. O'Brien. After retiring as a vice president of Right Temporary Services in Chicago, she and her husband moved to Florida.
She enjoyed sewing, bridge and playing piano and organ. She was an accomplished artist. She enjoyed reading, especially in the early years, Mazo de la Roche's Jalna series and Charles Dickens' "Tale of Two Cities" and "Required 10th Grade Reading for the Greatest Generation."
She was a wonderful big sister and is very much missed.
Surviving are her husband, William J. O'Brien; two sons, Stanley Stuart Jr. and Stephen John Stuart; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her husband's children, William, Timothy and Colleen, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her nieces, Dianne and Candy, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a sister, Lucille Hayes, of Dubuque; and her first cousins, Evelyn Brunskill and Adele Brunskill Pautveim, of Dubuque.
Although she and her first husband, who also survives, never saw each other again, they maintained affection and interest in each other's well- being throughout the years.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
