Mrs. Harold E. (Jean A.) Schuster, 69, of 1723 Richie Drive, formerly of 380 Kling-enburg Terrace, died at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery , Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1933, in Masonville, Iowa, daughter of Clement and Jane (Heffernan) Duffy. She married Harold E. Schuster on Sept. 10, 1955, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque.

She was a full-time homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Jean was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and ARK Advocates.

Surviving are her husband, Harold E. Schuster; a daughter, Rose A. Ruff (Craig Hartzell), of Dubuque; three sons, Thomas E. (Judith) Schuster and David G. Schuster, both of Dubuque, and John J. Schuster (Melanie Egge), of Hewitt, Texas; three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma Ruff and Sarah Burds; five sisters, Letiticia Hartman, of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Marjorie McMahon, Delores Morley and Marlene (Irv) Hubbard, all of Dubuque, and Donna (Don) Smock, of Dundee, Iowa; and a brother, Cecil (Marilyn) Duffy, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Boniface Duffy; and a special niece, Kathy Duffy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ARC, 1170 Roosevelt Street Extension, Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

Michael L. Staver

HAZEL GREEN, Wis. - Michael L. "Mike" Staver, 63, of Madison, formerly of Hazel Green, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at home of natural causes.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, where friends may call after noon Monday. Burial will be in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery , Hazel Green.

The Casey Funeral Home, Cuba City, is in charge of arrangements.

James C. Berning

GALENA, Ill. - James C. Berning, 49, of 12621 W. Valley Road, Galena, died Thursday, July 31, 2003.

Arrangements are pending at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Mabel A. Edge, 92, of Platteville, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, following a brief illness.

Veronica C. Taylor

LANCASTER, Wis. - Veronica C. Taylor, 75, of rural Lancaster, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster, with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating. Burial will be in Van Buren Cemetery , Potosi Township. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Schwartz Funeral Home, Lancaster, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3:15 p.m. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born on May 18, 1928, in Guttenberg, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Anna (Schlueter) Cherne. She married Robert Taylor on Oct. 27, 1959, in Dubuque.

Veronica enjoyed flowers, shopping, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, of rural Lancaster; a daughter, Donna (Brian) Dailey, of Fennimore; two grandsons, Taylor and Jason Dailey, both of Fennimore; and a sister, Margaret Bries, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Kinyon; and two brothers, Albert "Butch" Cherne and Alphonse Cherne.

Donald Hess

STOCKTON, Ill. - Donald Hess, 67, of Stockton, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Morgan Memorial Nursing Home, Stockton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hermann Funeral Home, Stockton, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday.

Burial will be in Ladies Union Cemetery , Stockton.

Steven J. Hoffman

EDGEWOOD, Iowa - Steven Joe Hoffman, 32, of Edgewood, died Thursday evening, July 31, 2003, from complications following a four-wheeler accident near Edgewood.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Edgewood Bible Church.

Friends may greet the family from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Leonard Funeral Home, Edgewood.

George A. Frommelt

George A. Frommelt, 75, of 980 Kane St., died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League and Tri-State Vietnam Veterans Association. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 4 p.m.

Mr. Frommelt owned and operated Frommelt Landscaping for more than 50 years.

He was born on May 25, 1928, in Dubuque, son of George and Gertrude (Koenig) Frommelt. He married Lumilda Muenster on Oct. 22, 1960, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

George proudly served his country with the Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Lumilda "Lu" (Muenster) Frommelt; five children, Aimee (Ken) Kuhle, Greg (Nicki) Frommelt and Shawna (Jay) Cone, all of Dubuque, Nina (Dave) Bergthold, of Camdenton, Mo., and Brian (Pam) Frommelt, of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Matthew Stepp, Marissa and Dylan Bergthold, Carter Frommelt, Brandon Frommelt and Nicholas and Erika Cone; a brother, Art Frommelt, of Dubuque; and two sisters, Lucille Hartford, of Farley, Iowa, and Donna (Richard) Trannel, of Monroe, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Frommelt; and four sisters, Marcella Behnke, Ruth Behnke, Bernice Kieffer and Marie Frommelt.

A George A. Frommelt Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, all the doctors and staff at The Finley Hospital, Finley Homecare and Dubuque Internal Medicine.
