Glada I. Sides
BENTON, Wis. - Glada I. Sides, 83, of 163 Whaley Court, Benton, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 1, 2002, surrounded by her family, at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Primitive Methodist Church, Benton, with the Rev. Russell Masartis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Casey Funeral Home, Benton, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1919, daughter of William "Frank" and Anna (Peacock) Robbins. She married Robert Sides on Nov. 6, 1941, in Rockford, Ill.; he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1994.
Glada loved to play cards, make baby quilts and visit with her family and friends.
Surviving are two sons, Dave (Donna) Sides, of Darlington, and Bill (Dianna) Sides, of Benton; two daughters, Carol (Paul) Runde, of Benton, and Sandy (Tom) DeMuth, of Hazel Green; nine grandchildren, Doug Sides, Rob (Kari) Sides, Todd (special friend, Ellyn) Runde, Scott (special friend, Jamie) Runde, Mark Runde, Debi (Mike) Kleppe, Tracy (Dusty) Padulla, Tara (Mike) Edmonds and Tim (Carrie) DeMuth; nine great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Jayda, Derek, Tiffany, Sam, Jack, Cole and Erin; and two nephews, Ron Robbins and Mark Oberfoell.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Robert Leon, in 1942; a sister; a brother; and two granddaughters, Tina Sides and Deneen (Sides) Giblin.
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane - I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.
Roger B. Nebel
HOLY CROSS, Iowa - Roger B. Nebel, 67, of 22335 Ridge Road, Holy Cross, died at 11:25 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Chapel services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Dubuque.
Mr. Nebel formerly owned and operated Dubuque Masonry and Tuckpointing.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1935, in Greeley, son of Albert and Mabel (Strief) Nebel. He married Carol A. Chaloupka on Oct. 6, 1956, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.
He was an athlete, playing baseball, football and basketball. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and canning tomatoes. He especially enjoyed being with his wife and family. He will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Carol A. Nebel; two daughters, Kimberly M. Nebel, of Sacramento, Calif., and Dawn M. (Kevin) Bandy, of Dubuque; five sons, Kyle J. (MeLeah) Nebel, of Warren, Mich., Steve P. (Kathy) Nebel, of Potosi, Wis., Michael A. (Nancy) Nebel and Eric C. (Beth Kieler) Nebel, both of Dubuque, and Randy R. Nebel, of New York, New York; 10 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Nita Nebel, of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Mike (Virginia) Hilmer and Mrs. Howard (Helen) Dunlap; and two brothers, John Nebel and James Nebel.
Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1700 Lincoln Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.
