Donald Stout

Donald E. Stout, 81, of Hays, Kan., formerly of Dan–ville, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, after a long illness.

Born April 14, 1924, in Carthage, Ill., he was the son of Clarence and Orva Stout. On July 9, 1950, he married Marguerite Colley.

Mr. Stout taught vocal music at Fort Hays State College until his retirement.

He was a 1941 graduate of Danville High School. He was a 1964 graduate of Indiana University, where he received a doctorate in music.

He was a World War II veteran, amateur photographer, train collector, avid gardener and was active in church and community musical events. He also was a member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, the United Methodist Church and several music organizations.

Survivors include his wife; one son, David Stout, of Seattle; one daughter, Patricia Clements of Shawnee, Kan.; three grandsons; and one brother, Jack Stout of Hills.

The celebration of life for Mr. Stout will be Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Hays.

A memorial has been established for the Donald E. Stout Vocal Music Scholarship Fund at Fort Hays State University.

Charles Knoch Sr.

Charles Frederick Knoch Sr., 94, of Donnellson Health Center, formerly of Fort Madison, died at 4:42 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the health center.

Born Nov. 4, 1911, in West Point, he was the son of Hubert M. and Eva Magdalene Weiss Knoch. On April 14, 1935, he married Helen Ruth Pettichord Wharton in Fort Madison. She died Dec. 11, 1958.

Mr. Knoch worked for 20 years for Feinberg's before retiring.

He was a member of Fort Madison Church of the Naza–rene.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Knoch of Thibodaux, La., Richard Knoch of Davenport and Leroy Knoch of Fort Madison; one daughter, Fay Tweedy of Fort Madison; four grandchildren; six great–grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, one son, one granddaughter, one brother and four sisters.

There will be no visitation. His body has been cremated.

The memorial service for Mr. Knoch will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at King–Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Brian Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison.

A memorial has been established.

Charles Gregg

Charles B. Gregg, 88, of Le Claire, formerly of Burlington and Monmouth, Ill., died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his home. Arrangements are pending at Lunning Chapel.

June Waddle

The funeral service for Mrs. June Waddle, 92, will be held this morning at 11:00 AM at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Matt Miller will officiate. Interment will be in Burge Cemetery , New London. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. today at the chapel and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established for the New London Nursing & Rehab Center.

Virginia Williams

The funeral service for Mrs. Virginia Williams, 91, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Danville United Church of Christ. Pastor Dan Buck will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in rural Danville. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Elliott Chapel and the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A memorial has been established.

Dwight A. Beckman

Dwight A. Beckman, 87, of Kingston died at 3:01 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 24, 1918, in West Burlington, he was the son of Alfred H. and Theresa S. Schnupper Beckman. On May 24, 1939, he married Ruby D. Klaus in Flint River Township.

Mr. Beckman was a lifelong farmer in the New London and Kingston area.

He was of the Protestant faith. He was a self–taught fiddler and member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association and the Bud Thornton Band, which played every Friday night at Gusto's Restaurant in Oakville as well as numerous nursing homes. He was a self–taught mechanic. He loved to travel, play cards, camp, hunt, use his metal detector and rock hunt. He spent many winters in New Mexico.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Wayne Beckman of New London; one daughter, Darlene Upton of Murtaugh, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and three great–grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

The funeral for Mr. Beckman will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Parker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Frank Lucas

Frank Edward Lucas, 51, of Keokuk, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Festus, Mo.

Born June 21, 1955, in Keokuk, he was the son of Meredith and Violet Seymour Lucas.

Mr. Lucas attended St. Vincent's and Cardinal Stritch Catholic schools and was a graduate of Keokuk Senior High. He served in the Army. He worked at Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, Steel Castings and McDonald's. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Ron Lucas of Titusville, Fla., and Larry Michael Lucas of Festus; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Lucas will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Greaves Mortuary, with the Rev. Paul Connolly officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Lee County Hospice.

Esther Lyon

Esther V. Lyon, 95, of Norwalk, formerly of Burlington, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, March, 11, 2006, at Norwalk Regency Care.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Lyon will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Donna Kelley

Donna J. Kelley, 73, of Belle Plaine, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, in the Keystone Care Center following a short illness. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday in Mt. Moriah Section of Ce–dar Mem–orial Park Cemetery . Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Surviving to honor her memory are a son Charles "Chuck" Kelley and wife Kendel of Cedar Rapids, three daughters Debbie Whitson and husband Mike, and Cathy Van Nevel and husband Bill, all of Belle Plaine, and Deanna Boutiba–Kelley and husband Tom of LaDora, Iowa, a sister Colleen Stoermer and husband Hugh of Burlington, Iowa, 14 grandchildren, 14 great–grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Connie Shulista.

Donna was born June 19, 1932, in Bentonsport, Iowa, to David C. and Marjorie Wolf Looney. She married Thomas E. Kelley on February 16, 1951, in Ft. Madison. He died March 14, 2005. Thomas and Donna had a very strong love for over 55 years. Donna loved to read, shop, and entertain her family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Keystone Care Center in Keystone, Iowa.

David Mackey

David W. Mackey, 76, of Stronghurst, Ill., died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at Roseville Country Manor in Roseville, Ill.

Born April 9, 1929, near Cameron, Ill., he was the son of Grant G. and Mary Elsie Newman Mackey. On Oct. 3, 1960, he married Monica Roche in Monmouth. She died April 11, 1996.

Mr. Mackey farmed near Little York, Ill., in the late 1960s and then moved south of Stronghurst, where he farmed.

He was an Army veteran. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Raritan, Ill.

Survivors include one brother, Grant Mackey of Monmouth; and seven sisters, Edna Behrens of Sterling, Ill., Helen Poole of Oquawka, Ill., Rose Deushane and Ruby Marie, both of Peoria, Ill., Alice Bailey of Texas, Mary Fesler of Berwick, Ill., and Margaret Carrington of Homer, Ill.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Raritan.

The funeral for Mr. Mackey will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Hummel officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Old Settlers Reunion in Stronghurst.

Corman Memorial Home in Roseville is in charge of arrangements.
