VICTOR E. BLUME
Funeral services for Victor Blume of Clarinda, IA, were held December 18, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Clarinda, with Pastor Gary Jaeckle officiating. Burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery
with military rites by American Legion Post 98 and V.F.W. Post 9230.
Victor Blume died Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at the Clarinda Regional Health Center.
Victor Blume was born January 15, 1924, on the family farm near Clarinda, Iowa to Edward Blume and Minnie (Meyer) Blume. Victor served in the United States Navy on the USS Terror during World War II. He was seriously wounded and after several months in the hospital he returned home to farm on the home place. For the past 21 years he has enjoyed getting reacquainted with his shipmates at USS Terror reunions.
Victor was united in marriage August 7, 1948 to Joan Maxwell at the Guss Methodist Church, Guss, Iowa. They farmed the family farm where Victor was born which received the Century Farm award. Victor enjoyed bowling for 40 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Clarinda.
Preceding Victor in death were his parents; grandson, Dusty Sunderman; son-in-law, Gene Sunderman; brother, Gerald Blume and his wife Bonnie Blume; brother, Edward Blume; brother-in-law, Elmer Wagoner. Survivors include his wife, Joan of the home; Gary Blume and wife Lois of Clarinda, Iowa; Vicki Sunderman of Villisca, Iowa; Rodney Blume of Clarinda, Iowa; Curtis Blume and wife Stacy of Clarinda, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Brandy and Ryan Sunderman, Brad and Regan Blume, Kellie and Jodie Blume, Carlin Blume; brother, Lawrence Blume and wife Nadine of College Springs, Iowa; sister, Allene Wagoner of Clarinda, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the Adaptive Equipment at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Presbyterian Outreach or St. John's Lutheran Church, Clarinda. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
PAUL GORDON WALLINGFORD
Graveside services for Paul Wallingford of Villisca, IA, were Monday, January 10, 2005, at the Victoria Cemetery , near Massena, IA.
Paul Gordon Wallingford died January 7, 2005, at the Clarinda Regional Health Center. Paul was born July 4, 1924, in Mills County, IA, the son of George and Beatrice (Starret) Wallingford.
He attended grade school in Mills and Fremont Counties. His parents moved to the Red Oak area in 1937. He lived in Montgomery County eleven years and farmed three years while living there. Paul served a short time in the United States Army during World War II.
Paul married Kathryn McMahon of Farragut, IA, on June 21, 1945. To this union one son, Lynn, was born. In February of 1949, the family moved ten miles northwest of Corning, IA, and lived on a farm there for 48 years. They then moved to Villisca, April 1, 1996. Paul was a member of the United Methodist Church for many years.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn Henggeler of Maryville, MO, and Thelma Clark of Red Oak, IA.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn, son Lynn and wife Trudy of Villisca, three grandchildren: Ashley, Aaron and Abbey, one sister Ivetta Peebles of Red Oak, IA, plus nieces nephews other relatives and friends.
A memorial is being established. Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca was in charge of the arrangements.
ROGER D. STEVENSON
Roger D. Stevenson, age 69, of Shenandoah, Iowa, formerly of Villisca, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 04, 2005, at his residence at Gardenview Care Center, Shenandoah, Iowa.
He was born July 3, 1935, at Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charlie Edward Stevenson and Dora (Anderson) Stevenson.
Survivors include sister, Maxine Akers of St. Helens, Oregon; brother, Charles Stevenson and wife Stella of Russelville, Arkansas; sister, Shirley Hayes of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
Preceding Roger in death were his parents; brothers: Raleigh Stevenson and Leonard Stevenson; sisters: Ardith Rhamy, Thala Grosche, and Darthula Stevenson.
Graveside services will be held a later date. Wolfe Funeral Home, Villisca, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
ELIZABETH PFEIFFER
Funeral services for Elizabeth Ethelyn Pfeiffer of the Red Oak, Stanton, and Nodaway, IA, areas were held Monday, January 3, 2005 (DATE CHANGED BECAUSE OF WEATHER) at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel in Clarinda, IA, with Rev. Eddie Fidler officiating. Burial was at Salem Cemetery , Montgomery County, IA.
Elizabeth Pfeiffer died December 29, 2004, at the Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville, MO, following an extended illness.
Elizabeth was born Jan 2, 1915, at Bucklin, MO, to Ed Paris and Ethel (Lyster) Stevenson. She went to school at Bucklin and finished her schooling at Wheeler, AR, living there a while before moving with her parents to Red Oak, IA, in 1936. Elizabeth went to work in Red Oak at a clothing store until getting married May 15, 1942 and was a homemaker then until going to work at a ladies clothing store in the 60's until its closing in the 70's. She then retired, living in the Nodaway, Red Oak, and Stanton areas until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Phillip Morris Pfeiffer; brother Edgar Stevenson; and sisters Catherine Harrison and June Pfeiffer.
Elizabeth is survived by her son and his wife, Steve and Suzanne Pfeiffer of Nodaway, IA; sister Peggy Cassell, Torrance, Ca; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Steve Pfeiffer, Stanley Pfeiffer, Tim Pfeiffer, Fred Roach, John Pfeiffer, and Bill Fidler. Doug Fidler was vocalist.
A memorial fund is being established. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
MILDRED L. ENARSON
Funeral services for Mildred L. Enarson of Kearney, NE, will be held January 7, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Villisca, with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery , near Villisca, IA
Mildred L. Enarson died January 3, 2005, at her home in Kearney Manor, Kearney, NE. She was born July 8, 1923 in Clarinda, IA, the daughter of Louis Reed and Neva Belle (Ashmore) Reed.
Mildred grew up in the Clarinda area and was a graduate of the Villisca High School. She later moved to Omaha where she worked for the phone company. On June 15, 1947 she married Millard Enarson in Villisca, IA. She and her husband farmed in the Villisca and Bedford, IA, area. They moved to Minden, NE, in 1974. Mildred worked for Pioneer Village as a weaver and spinner until she retired in 1998. After retiring she moved to Kearney.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Millard on January 10, 1998; a sister, Helen Reed; and two brothers, Roland Reed and Keith Reed.
She is survived by her daughters: Mikki Chavanu and husband Jim of Kearney, NE; Marcia Steffensen and husband Mark of Council Bluffs, IA; Marta Novotny and husband Tom of Lincoln, NE; sons Michael Enarson of Omaha, NE; Mark Enarson and wife Nancy of Gibbon, NE; and Mason Enarson of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren: P.J. and wife Katie Chavanu, Marshall and Martin Steffensen, Colton and Laura Enarson, Rachel and Sara Novotny and one great granddaughter Olivia Chavanu. Also two sisters, Ruth Pratt of New Market, IA, and Dorothy Jean Motsinger of Villisca, IA, plus nieces , nephews other relatives and friends.

ERNEST FRANKLIN CHANEY
Funeral services for Ernest Franklin Chaney were held December 28, 2004, at the Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in Red Oak, IA, with the Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial was at the Arlington Cemetery
in rural Villisca.
Ernest Chaney died December 25, 2004, at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Ernest, the son of Alonzo and Gladys (Sprague) Chaney, was born April 16, 1923, in Adams County near Carbon, IA.
Ernie served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He was a John Deere mechanic for 43 years. He worked for many years at Danielson Implement of Villisca, IA. Ernie was united in marriage to Phyllis Bauer on December 16, 1946 in Villisca. They lived in Villisca, Tenville and later moved to Red Oak in 1993. Ernie was a member of the American Legion Post #251 and VFW Post #8998 both of Villisca.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lawrence and a sister, Margaret.
Ernie is survived by his wife Phyllis of Red Oak, IA; children, Ronald Chaney and his wife Elaine of Ft. Myers, FL, Dennis Chaney and his wife Juanita of Glenwood, IA, Michael Chaney and his wife Elizabeth of California, MD; three grandchildren, Dr. Marty Chaney and his wife Kristi of San Antonio, TX, Dana Firkens and her husband Jay of West Des Moines, IA, and Lisa Garnero and her husband Jihef of Brooklyn, NY; one great-granddaughter, Zoie Marie Firkens; many nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Ruth Darlene Waldron
Ruth Darlene Waldron was born November 17, 1926 in Tarkio, Missouri in the home of her parents, Wilbur and Pearl (Racine) Waldron. She died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Jennie Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Shenandoah High School. She met Leroy Kenneth Hartstack while roller skating at Porter’s Lake. They were married on August 18, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He survives on their farm at Bethesda, Iowa.
Ruth served her Lord by being on several church committees and being active in the Wedding Ring group. Her golfing, flower gardening, reading and listening to music were her favorite hobbies. Ruth served as a Douglas Duty Doer 4-H Leader for several years. Working at the food booth at Page County Fair and helping the 4-H girls with their projects was a pleasure for her. She also enjoyed friendship through the neighborhood garden club, the Gay Gadabouts and traveling with the Prestige Club. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She believed in family. When her mother passed away, she wanted to have the family Thanksgiving dinners. Year after year, many of her brothers, sisters and their families would come and enjoy her wonderful cooking and hospitality. Christmas Eve was also a very special time for Ruth. It was a family tradition to attend the Immanuel Christmas Eve Program and afterwards go to her home for her wonderful cooking. She made EVERYONE a Christmas stocking and gave presents galore. Ruth and Leroy’s home was always full of love and warmth for all who entered. One of the last great pleasures Ruth had was Leroy’s Surprise 80th Birthday Party. Planning a surprise for the love of her life meant so much to her and reuniting with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Pearl; parents-in-law, Otto and Lena Hartstack and sister, Mary Monson.
In addition to her husband Leroy, survivors are her son, Richard Hartstack and his wife Joy of rural Bedford, Iowa; daughters, Becky Davis and her husband Randy of Clarinda, Iowa, Gail McCurdy and her husband Dave of Kirksville, Missouri, Rozann Beatty and her husband Don of Topeka, Kansas. In addition, Ruth had ten grandchildren: Ben Hartstack and his wife Phyllis of Houston, Texas, Christina Hartstack and Mike Saylor of Bedford, Iowa, Wendy and Dan Halloran of Clarinda, Iowa, Jake and Lindsey Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Maggie Davis of New Market, Iowa, Kara Cohagen of Kirksville, Missouri, Beth and Ty Mason of Bedford, Iowa, Roland Cohagen of Kirksville, Missouri, Samuel Beatty of Topeka, Kansas and Simon Beatty of Topeka, Kansas. Surviving siblings are, Warren and LaVita Waldron of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Fred and Karen Waldron of Kansas City, Missouri, Frances Davis of Anderson, Indiana, Kenneth and Ginger Waldron of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Roger and Loree Waldron of McAllen, Texas; along with seven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Jerome Wagoner officiating. Burial was at Immanuel Cemetery . Memorials are suggested to the church’s furnace and air conditioning fund. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel of Clarinda was in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Edgar Paul Alexander
Alexander, Dr. Edgar Paul, age 82 years of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina formerly of Omaha, NE. Born May 4, 1923, died August 11, 2005. Graduate of Iowa State University in Veterinary medicine, practiced in York, NE, Villisca, IA and Omaha, NE, and served as state veterinarian for Iowa before retirement. Married Iowa State graduate, Barbara Jane “Bobbie” Reese of Des Moines, IA in 1946. Preceeded in death by: parents, George W. & Lois E. (Gilmore) Alexander, brother, William Knox Alexander, and beloved wife, Barbara.
Survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Becky Rae & John Sladek of Hilton Head Island, SC, Gwen Leigh Alexander of Ann Arbor, MI, son, Gregory Knox Alexander of Houston, TX; four beloved grandchildren, Matthew Scott Sladek and wife Piam of Marietta, GA, Bradley Alexander Sladek of Iowa City, IA, Emily Kristine Sladek of Olympia, WA, Gretchen Reese Gindorff of Atlanta, GA.
Visitation begins Saturday, August 20th at 9:00 a.m. at Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Culter West Center Chapel with a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service Saturday, August 20th at 3:00 p.m., Clarinda, Iowa Municipal Cemetery . Family suggests memorials to the Villisca, Iowa Presbyterian Church.
ART PULLEN
Graveside Memorial services for Art Pullen 81, of Villisca, IA will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005, at the Methodist Grove Cemetery , near Nodaway, IA. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Memorials may be directed to the Villisca Rescue.
Arthur Fay Pullen died Saturday, August 6th at the Clarinda Regional Health Center in Clarinda. He was born April 23, 1924, in Shenandoah, IA, the son of Chester Fay and Blanche Irma (LaFollette) Pullen.
Art married Elsie (Marie) Stalder October 13, 1944, in Seattle, Washington while on leave from the Navy during WWII. After their marriage, Art returned to Navy duty and Marie returned to Nodaway, IA. When Art's tour of duty was over he returned to Nodaway where he ran a gas station, did welding and drove a school bus. Art and Marie moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965. Art worked for Gates Rubber Company in Denver as a welder and pipe fitter, he retired in 1986. After retirement Art and Marie left for vacation to Villisca, they planned on staying a month but ended up never returning to Denver.
Art and Marie spent the winter months in Alamo, Texas. He enjoyed the flea markets and playing cribbage. He also enjoyed riding a snowmobile, jeep climbing, fishing, hunting, listening to gospel music and spending time with family and friends.
Art is survived his wife Marie of Villisca, IA, daughters; Gail Lewis and husband Bernie of Erie, CO and Dawn Hamm and husband Verle of Brighton, CO, two grandchildren; Alyssa Hoffman and husband J.W. of Keenesburg, CO and Randi Hamm of Brighton, CO, one great grandson Cash Hoffman of Keenesburg, CO. Two brothers Jack Pullen of Oceanside, CA and Bob Pullen and wife Virginia of Evansdale, IN, one sister Kathleen Robinson and husband Lucian of Raleigh, NC, nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

GENEVA ERICKSON
Geneva Ruth Erickson, the daughter of Elbert and Helen (Wight) Winchester, was born March 8, 1921 in Rogers, Arkansas. She died on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 30 days.
Geneva spent her younger years in Arkansas. When Geneva was a young girl, the family moved to Henderson, Iowa where she attended school. Geneva was united in marriage to Roy Erickson on May 26, 1939. They later moved to a farm just west of Villisca. After the death of Roy, Geneva moved to Acorn Acres in Red Oak, living there until September of 2004, when she became a resident of the Red Oak Good Samaritan Center. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, in June of 1993, a son, a daughter, Patricia Turpen Chmielowiec, and 2 sisters, Eva J. Wallace and Josephine Kennel.
Geneva is survived by a son-in-law, James Chmielowiec of Red Oak, IA, four grandchildren; Tammy Delozier and husband Mark of Mankato, MN, Randy Turpen and wife Linda of Villisca, IA, Scott Turpen of Omaha, NE and Kim Carroll of Des Moines, IA, 9 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, 3 brothers; Norman Winchester and wife Norma of Carroll, IA, Eugene Winchester of Council Bluffs, IA and James Winchester and wife Joann of Sioux Falls, SD, other relatives and friends.
