SGT DANIEL L. SESKER

Sgt. Daniel L. Sesker, 22 of Ogden, Iowa died Thursday, April 6, 2006, near Baghdad Iraq as the result of a roadside bomb explosion.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday April 18, 2006 at the Ogden High School Gymnasium 732 W. Division St, Ogden. Chaplin MAJ Klavetter will officiate. Burial will be a private ceremony at the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday April 17, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ogden High School Gymnasium. Carson Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel LaVerne Sesker was born on April 15, 1983, in Boone Iowa, the son of Mysty Harper-Stumbo and Dennis Sesker. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 2001 and attended college at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Dan enlisted as a Calvary Scout in B Troop 1-113 Calvary in August of 2000. He was deployed to Kosovo in 2003 as part of Operation Joint Guardians. In July of 2005 Dan who was a Soldier of B Troop 1-113 Cav. Volunteered to be attached to C Troop 1-113 Cav. out of LeMars Iowa, for the Iraqi Freedom Mission. While in Iraq, he served as a gunner in the Task Force 49th Military Police Personnel Security Detachment. Between the Kosovo and Iraq tours of duty, Dan worked as a counselor at the Woodward Academy and as a part-time police officer in Gowrie, Iowa. At the time of his death, Dan was serving on the same base in Iraq as three Ogden High School classmates, Sgt. David Bollenbaugh, Spc.Shane Sinn and Spc. Michael Fraser.

Some of the things Dan enjoyed doing and is remembered for is his love of a good game of pool. He really liked bowling, hunting, fishing and most of all he loved living life.

Dan is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mysty (Harper) and Marvin Stumbo of Ogden Iowa; father Dennis Sesker of Boone Iowa, Fiance Angelique Garey of Ogden Iowa; brother and sister-in-law Pfc. Thomas and Sara Sesker stationed in Hawaii; sister Jennifer Sesker of Ogden, Iowa, stepsister Amie Stumbo and Sandston, Virginia and stepbrother Brian Stumbo of Cedar Rapids Iowa, grandparents Jean Harper of Boone Iowa, and Bud and Diane Harper of Creston, Iowa, several other family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Stanley and Violet Sesker.

LOVON IRVING LUNDGREN

Lavon Irving Lundgren, the son of Elmer A. and Margaret C. (Milton) Lundgren was born September 2, 1923 at Stanton, Iowa. He died on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 29 days.

Lavon was raised in the Stanton community. He was baptized and confirmed at Mamrelund Lutheran Church. Lavon attended Frankfort #9 country school; he graduated from Stanton High School in l940.

Lavon sang in the school Quartet and for many years, in the choir at Mamrelund Lutheran Church.

Lavon was united in marriage to Barbara C. Nelson on September 4, 1949 in Red Oak. They farmed north of Red Oak. He enjoyed going on cattle buying trips. In 1990, Lavon retired and they moved into Red Oak. His farming business was his life, along with his family, which he held very dear and near to his heart. Lavon was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served on the board several terms. He served on the Farmers Mercantile Co-Op board for nine years, having been president four years; he served as Indian Creek Watershed commissioner and on the Montgomery County Farmers Home Administration board. Lavon was active in 4-H as a youth and with his children. He enjoyed baseball and other sports. Lavon was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter and two brothers, Donald and Junior.

Lavon is survived by his wife, Barbara Lundgren of Red Oak, Iowa; four children, Jolene Muldowney and husband Dan of Sioux City, IA, Kristine McAninch and husband David of Green Bay, WI, Carol Barnes and husband Patrick of Bettendorf, IA and Karl Lundgren and wife Shelley of Red Oak, IA; 13 grandchildren, Ruth Lekander and husband Bryant, Michael and Susan Muldowney, Jessica, Melissa, Andrew and Rachael Barnes, Sarah, Kathryn and Peter McAninch, Benjamin, Brooke and Ryan Lundgren; nieces, nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn.

GINGER L. YATES

Ginger L. Yates, age 21, of Villisca, IA, formerly of Clark County, MO, died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 26, 2006 in Red Oak, IA.

She was born April 15, 1984, in Springdale, AR, a daughter of Jeff and Mary Miller Herring.

On September 13, 2004, she was united in marriage to Kyle A. Yates in Las Vegas, NV, and they were the proud parents of Delaney Marie.

She is survived by her husband, Kyle, and precious daughter, Delaney, of Villisca, IA; her parents, Mary and Cleo Hemingway of Lancaster, MO and Jeff Herring of Bentonsville, AR; her in-laws: Mark Yates of Keokuk, IA and Tammy and Dustin Kirchner of Bowling Green, MO; her grandparents: Betty Miller of Keokuk, IA and Sarah and Terry Remley of Garfield, AR; Kyle’s grandparents: Bill and Melba Yates of Luray, MO, Ruby Davis of Warsaw, MO, Jean Hunter of Keokuk, IA,Mary and Jerry Campbell of Alexandria, MO, and Gary and Gretchen Kirchner of Kahoka, MO; also, Kyle’s great-grandparents: Dorothy Kirchner and Grace and Wayne Hodges, all of Kahoka; two brothers: Darrell Herring and his companion, Natoshia Risher of Wyaconda, MO and John Herring of Lancaster, MO; two sisters, Sarah and Eric Stewart of Luray, MO and Michelle Herring of Memphis, MO; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kala Yates of St. Louis, MO, and, Janna Yates and Kody Yates, both of Kahoka, MO; nieces and nephews: Ethan Herring, Luke and Sierra Stewart, Ryan Kerfoot and Mary Kellum; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lyle Miller.

Ginger attended most of her school years at Wyaconda, graduating from Clark Co. R-1 High School in 2003. For the past three years she had lived in Villisca where she was employed at the Stanton Care Center as a CNA.

She loved taking pictures and scrapbooking which became more important after having Delaney. She also enjoyed sewing and reading and doing things outdoors. She was a loving wife and more than anything, loved being a mother to Delaney and caring for her home.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with Rev. Kenneth Beckmann and Rev. Ernest Deatrick officiating. Mrs. Ida Ross was organist and special music were recordings "Ten Thousand Angels" by Martina McBride, "She’s My Kind of Rain" by Tim McGraw, and, "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton.

Pallbearers were Dustin Parker, Gordon McAlpin, J. D. Morgan, Eric Stewart, Matt Peterson, and, Kevin Anderson.

Burial was in Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation was held after 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Kyle and Delaney. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.timeformemory.com/wilsonfh.

LEMOYNE (BUD) FRANCIS SALWAY

Lemoyne (Bud) Francis Salway 77, of Villisca, Iowa, died at his home in Villisca, IA, on Sunday, March 26, 2006. He was born January 7, 1929, in Lead South Dakota, the son of Nicholas and Mamie (Fern) Salway.

Bud graduated from Hot Springs, South Dakota. He lived on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian Reservations until he entered the Air Force on November 22, 1948. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Baker on December 24, 1955 in Villisca, Iowa at the Presbyterian Manse.

During Buds life he had worked in construction, carpentry, cement work and after retiring had worked for Browns Sanitation. Bud was proud of his Sioux Indian heritage. He spoke the Sioux Indian Language and Korean. During the service he trained troops on jet aircraft. Bud enjoyed watching sports and movies and reading westerns. His main enjoyment was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bud and his family appreciate all that Pam Cass did for he and his family.

Bud is survived by his wife Evelyn Salway of Villisca, IA, daughter Shala Scott and husband Roy of Villisca, IA and son Jeffrey Salway of Villisca, IA. grandchildren: Natasha Salway and Dustin Baird of Des Moines, IA, Jessica Salway of Villisca, IA, Nicholas Scott of Villisca, IA, Dawson Salway of Clarinda, IA, great grandchildren: Adrien Salway and Landen Salway of Villisca, IA. Extended family Elishia Anderson of Villisca, IA, Norma Rae Wolfe of Kellerton, IA, and Brandi Bisbee of Lincoln, NE, brother in laws and sisters in law: Donald Baker and wife Donna of Villisca, IA Sharon Farlin of Emerson, IA and Willis and Jean Baker of Red Oak, IA, plus nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers and one sister.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca, IA. Visitation will be held from 7-8 Wednesday evening at the Wolfe Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Hall officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date.

JANICE LEE VETTER

Janice Lee Vetter, the daughter of Harry H. and Aura (Jackson) Swanson, was born August 15, 1937 in Red Oak, Iowa. She died on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 10 days.

Janice was raised in Red Oak, graduating from Red Oak High School in l955. She then attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in l958 as a Registered Nurse. Jan was united in marriage to Merlin R. Vetter on April 6, 1958 in Red Oak. They lived northeast of Red Oak, where they farmed and raised their family. She did part time nursing and volunteered many hours for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. Jan was a member of the Pilot Grove United Methodist Church where she served as organist for many years, as well as a board member and various offices of the United Methodist Women. She found her greatest joy and pleasures in time spent with family and friends and doing for others. Jan especially loved gardening and fishing with her father and caring for grandchildren whenever needed. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert.

Jan is survived by her husband, Merlin Vetter of rural Red Oak, IA; one daughter, Barb Allen and husband Mark of rural Stanton, IA; two sons, Greg Vetter and wife Lisa of rural Red Oak, IA and Gary Vetter and wife Kris of rural Elliott, IA; eight grandchildren, Brayton, Bryce and Kara Allen, Mallie, Mandie, Sydney, Jacob and Jordan Vetter; one aunt, Virginia Marquart of Seal Beach, CA, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

BILLIE ANN FOOTE

Billie Ann Foote, the daughter of George and Golden was born January 3, 1928 in Montgomery County, Iowa near Grant. She died on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 15 days.

Billie grew up and attended school at Grant, Iowa. On January 16, 1944 she was united in marriage to Lawrence R. Foote in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union 5 children were born, Gary, Terry, Sheryl, Larry and Brian. They lived west of Grant until 1954, when they moved to Stanton, Iowa. Billie took pride in raising her family. She worked 10 years with the Stanton Care Center in the dietary department. Billie's hobbies included cooking, sewing and crafts. Her favorite pastimes were watching her kids playing sports in school and later came her true love of watching her sons Terry, Larry and Brian and grandson Randy race every Saturday night at Adams County Speedway. She was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Mitchell and Walter and 2 sisters, Betty and Savilla, and a granddaughter, Cathy Sue.

Billie is survived by her husband of 62 years Lawrence R. Foote of Stanton, Iowa; four sons, Gary L. Foote and wife Karen of Camdenton, MO, Terry A. Foote and wife Janice of rural Red Oak, IA, Larry D. Foote and wife Carol of Red Oak, IA and Brian L. Foote and wife Barb of Essex, IA; a daughter, Sheryl Koopmeiners and husband Ron of Council Bluffs, IA; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Teddy Weston and wife Donna of Grant, IA; brother-in-law, Ed Foote of Stanton, IA; sister-in-laws, Phyllis Schuler of Atlantic, IA and Beatrice Adams of Griswold, IA, other relatives and a host of friends.

SHERRYL L. WILLIAMS

Sherryl L. Williams died peacefully at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames on March 7, 2006. There will be no funeral service. Memorials will be used to establish a scholarship in Sherryl's name at Villisca High School for students entering those professions dedicated to the care of others.

Sherryl was born on November 9, 1939, to Clifford and Della Stevenson of Humboldt, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State University where she met Don Williams. They were married on December 17, 1960, and then went to farm in Villisca where they resided for many years. More recently, Sherryl and Don divided their time between homes in Villisca and Ames to enjoy their grandchildren and their many activities.

Sherryl is survived by husband Don; son Tom and family of Villisca (wife Cindy, daughters Michelle and Renee); daughter Cynthia Feller and family of Ames (husband John, children Andrew, Ben and Jessica); son Rod Getting and family of Lincoln, NE (wife Mary, sons Travis and Braden); sister Pam Evans and husband Paul (Lexington, KY); and brother Braden Stevenson and wife Nancy (Des Moines). She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews stretching from Florida to California and numerous great- nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by infant grandson Kyle (Tom and Cindy) and both her parents.

Early in their marriage, Sherryl and Don were a shelter for many troubled foster children. She was good at welcoming them, making them feel safe and sending them on their way stronger than when they arrived. Sherryl was also a talented person as demonstrated by her hobbies of weaving and basket making, just to name a few. She leaves behind a group of fellow weavers known as the Wildwood Weavers who are very special and gave her many fond memories. Another important group in her life was her Pi Beta Phi sorority sisters. They have kept in touch for over 40 years, laughing and crying together.

Sherryl will be remembered for her willingness to help others, her great love of family and friends, and her strong determination. She was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by many.

Sherryl's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Michael Guffy and his entire staff (McFarland Clinic in Ames) for their care and dedication.
