LaDONNA J. FOCHT
LaDonna J. Focht, age 47, of Villisca, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. LaDonna
Jean Focht was born March 19, 1960 the daughter of Jerry and Shirlene (Brown) McKenzie. Her father passed away when LaDonna was very young. Her mother was then united in marriage to William “Bill” Crabtree who raised both LaDonna and her sister, Deb. LaDonna graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1978 and attended Northwest Missouri State University for a short period of time before returning to Red Oak where she worked at Montgomery County National Bank. She was united in marriage to Mark Focht on March 21, 1981 in Red Oak. They lived in Morton’s Mill for 4 years before moving to their current home. LaDonna worked for the bank through several name changes and later was employed by Security State Bank now known as Great Western Bank. In September of 2006, she started working in the Montgomery County Recorder’s Office. She was a member of the Tabor Lutheran Church at Wallin where she was in the choir and was a member of WELCA. She also was a former member of the YMCA Board, Relay For Life Committee member, Booster Club member, Music Booster Club member, and enjoyed bowling for many years. Her greatest love was her family and watching her kids in all sporting events.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her father: Jerry McKenzie; her mother: Shirlene Crabtree; an infant brother; and several grandparents.
Survivors include her husband: Mark Focht of Villisca, Iowa; children: Andrew Focht and friend Karla Horihan of Villisca, Iowa; Aaron Focht, Ryan Focht, and Amanda Focht all of Villisca, Iowa; her Dad: William “Bill” Crabtree of Red Oak, Iowa; sister: Deb Liebig and husband Mike of Gretna, Nebraska; grandmother: Edith McKenzie of Red Oak, Iowa; Aunts: Anamary Gustin and husband Wayne of Red Oak, Iowa; and Doris Lockhart of Wyoming; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Marvin and Barbara Focht of Villisca, Iowa; two brothers-in-law: Jeff Focht and wife Nora of Omaha, Nebraska; and Rod Focht of Stanton, Iowa; sister-in-law: Sue Reynolds and husband Dennis of Griswold, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Lindsay, Shelby, and Cassady Sunderman all of Gretna, Nebraska; Grant, Greg, and Ally Focht all of Stanton, Iowa; Dakota Reynolds of Griswold, Iowa; and Bryan Leary and wife Andrea of Wylie, Texas; great niece and nephew: Karlee Leary and Riley Leary both of Wylie, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa with Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery
in Red Oak. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Fire and Rescue Department of your choosing in the area.

Arlene Marie Eno
April 4, 1925 - March 30, 2007
Fred, loving husband, sadly informs you of the peaceful passing of Arlene Eno at the age of 81.
Arlene was born in Ladoga, Iowa. She was the eldest child of Carl and Elva Prather. She lived on a farm in Taylor County and attended country school through the eighth grade. The following year she moved to Clarinda, Iowa and attended Clarinda High School graduating in 1942. Following graduation she worked at F.W. Woolworth and later worked as a bookkeeper at Greenbay Lumber Company and at a seed company. In 1944 she moved to Monterey, California and became a dental assistant. In 1947 she moved back to Clarinda and worked for Dr. Eller as a dental assistant. She married Fred on October 3, 1948.
They made their home in Villisca, Iowa where two sons were born. Kurt Charles on July 15, 1950 and Mark Fredrick on December 14, 1953. Three grandsons were born. Layne, son of Kurt and Denice Eno and Scott and Blake, sons of Mark and Carol Eno.
Arlene enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and had a love for writing to friends, golf, reading and decorating her home and playing an active role in the family furniture store business.
In February of 1987 Fred and Arlene retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas. In 2001 Fred and Arlene moved to Green Valley, Arizona. Arlene moved to Desert Pines Eldercare in April of 2004 and was cared for by Vista Hospice in this lovely assisted living home where she received loving care.
Arlene loved her family and friends and cherished the cards and phone calls.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Fred of Green Valley, Arizona and her son and his wife, Mark and Carol Eno of Shenandoah, Iowa; two grandsons, Scott of Sidney, Iowa and Blake of Fort Collins, Colorado and one sister, Phyllis Jamison of Clarinda, Iowa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kurt and grandson, Layne.
Arlene's wishes were to not have a memorial service and they are being fulfilled. We celebrate her life and the inspiration she was to all.

MERGELINE MILDRED RACHEL OLSON
Mergeline Mildred Rachel Olson, the daughter of Forrest and Annie (Miller) Larson, was born October 17, 1915 in Frankfort Township of Montgomery County, Iowa. She died on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 11 days.
Mergeline was raised in the Wallin area, where she attended country school. She worked in Red Oak before her marriage to Stanley Oliver Olson on June 27, 1943 at Wallin, IA. During Stanley's military service they lived in many locations. After WW II, they moved to a farm in the Coburg area where they resided for 10 years. They spent the next 6 years in Red Oak. In 1961, they lived on a farm Northeast of Stanton. In 1985, they moved into Red Oak. Mergeline was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, Iowa. She enjoyed many hobbies, but was best known for her wedding and special occasion cakes that she baked and decorated. Sharing her baking with everyone was a treat, and has left so many with fond memories. Mergeline became a resident of the Red Oak Good Samaritan Center in July of 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley on September 7, 1988; brother, Milan Larson; sisters: Edna Tornholm and Lucille Kloster.
Mergeline is survived by two daughters: Sharon Peterson and husband Bruce of Omaha, NE and Esther Carlson and husband Rick of Red Oak, IA; 7 grandchildren: Brian Peterson and wife Holly, Mark Peterson and wife Sara, Dan Peterson and wife Regan, Chet Carlson, Katie Carlson, Annie Carlson and Josh Carlson; 2 great-grandchildren: Tyler Peterson and Trevor Peterson; sister-in-law: Mrs. Doris Larson of Red Oak, Iowa; other relatives and a host of friends.

WAYNE SPENCER
Wayne Edward Spencer, 85, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away on March 19, 2007, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa.
Wayne was born to Herbert and Mary (Parcher) Spencer on July 14, 1921, in Adams County near Nodaway. He was raised by his grandparents, Martha and Frank Parcher. He graduated from Nodaway High School with the class of 1940. He married Ruth Olivia Thompson on July 20, 1941, in St. James,
Minnesota. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past July.
Wayne served as a radio operator and mechanic in the Air Force during World War II. He had worked as a parts manager for a Ford garage. He was employed by Meadow Gold Dairy and then was a parts manager for Lane Implement until 1975. He worked for an aluminum foundry from 1974 to 1983. He then worked part time for Kendrick & Heard and part time on the farm for his son-in-law Bill Jacobs.
He was a member of the Villisca United Methodist Church, Methodist Men and the Villisca American Legion Ker-A-Vor Post 251. He served on the Villisca Light Plant Board and was as former city council member. He enjoyed fixing things for the children and grandchildren, bird watching and Sunday afternoon drives. He helped the boys with their Pine Wood Derby cars. He and Ruth supported their children and grandchildren’s activities and were honored as the Grand Marshalls for the 2001 Villisca Homecoming Parade. He was the 2007 Valentine King at the Stanton Care Center.
He is survived by daughters Judy and husband Gary Westerman of Omaha, Nebraska and Rachel and husband Bill Jacobs of Villisca. Five grandchildren: Chad and wife Nicky Jacobs of Villisca, Scott and wife Dani Jacobs of Villisca, Jeff Jacobs of Des Moines, Amy Westerman of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Eric and wife Amy Jo Westerman of Basalt, Colorado, brother Carroll and wife Louise Spencer of Lincoln, Nebraska, sister Marge and husband Gene Burr of Guthrie Center, and five great grandchildren, other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Spencer, his grandparents Martha and Frank Parcher, his parents Herbert and Mary Spencer and a sister Maryellen Pryor.

PAMELA JO GRASHORN-HEDLUND
Funeral services for 47 year old Pamela Jo Grashorn-Hedlund of Emerson, Iowa, formerly of Villisca, Iowa, were held Thursday, March 22nd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Villisca. Pam passed away Sunday, March 18th at her residence. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery . Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca.
Pamela Jo Greshorn-Hedlund was born on August 6, 1959, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Elmer and Catherine (Moser) Grashorn. She graduated from Villisca High School with the class of 1977 and received her Bacholors’ of Science Degree from Midland Lutheran College in Freemont, Nebraska. In 1999 Pam received her business degree from Iowa Western College. On October 24, 2005,Pam and Paul Hedlund were married in Red Oak, Iowa. Pam worked at CDS in Red Oak and at various Pizza Huts in Nebraska. She enjoyed bingo, arts and crafts, traveling, fishing and camping.
Pam is survived by her husband Paul, parents Elmer and Catherine Grashorn, daughters Nykkohl and Britnee Hedlund of Emerson, sister Becky and husband Gary Kriekemeier of Bellwood, Nebraska, brother Lonnie Grashorn of New Market, sister Patty Grashorn of Clarinda, sister Margaret Grashorn of Clarinda, and brothers Terry Grashorn of Villisca and Clayton and wife Chaundra Grashorn of Blanchard.
Pam was preceded in death by her brother Bernard Grashorn.
CLARENCE C. McCUEN
Clarence C. McCuen, age 62, of Stanton, Iowa passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at his home in Stanton. Clarence Charles McCuen was born September 6, 1944 in Villisca, Iowa the son of Clarence C. and Elsie P. (Pierson) McCuen. He was raised in the Nodaway and Villisca area. Over the years Clarence has farmed, worked for the railroad, worked for the Adams County Secondary Roads Dept., and for most of his life he was an over the road trucker. His most recent employer was Sub Zero Trucking. Clarence was united in marriage to Ann White on March 12, 1966 and to this union was born two children: Jule and Jessica. He was later married to Joyce McKinley and to this union was born one child: Summer. Clarence was united in marriage to Mable Wilson on June 25, 2005 at Hackelbarney Park. They made their home in Stanton, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife: Mable McCuen of Stanton, Iowa; children: Jule McCuen and wife Lori of Villisca, Iowa; Jessica Avila and husband Luis of Corning, Iowa; and Summer Chafa and husband Andrew of Corning, Iowa; grandchildren: Michele, Micheal, and Sara Avila all of Corning, Iowa; Morgan and Logan McCuen of Villisca, Iowa; Chase and Haley Poort of Corning, Iowa; and Spencer and Wyatt Chafa of Corning, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, March 12, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gordon Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery
near Villisca, Iowa.

MARGUERITE L. ACKERMAN
Marguerite L. Ackerman, age 94, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center.
Marguerite Luella Ackerman was born January 28, 1913 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Barbara (Lembke) Riepe. She attended school in Grove Township and Sunday school and church at Wheeler Grove Church. Later her parents moved to Griswold where she was baptized in the Central Church of Christ.
She graduated from Griswold High School in 1932 and taught at the Mitchell County School in Pottawattamie County. Marguerite was united in marriage to Donald "Pat" Ackerman on March 16, 1936. They farmed in the Griswold, Elliott, and Morton's Mill area. When they moved to Morton's Mill they transferred their church membership to the Morton's Mill Church. They sold their farm in 1973 but continued to live near Morton's Mill until 1983 at which time they purchased a home in Red Oak. Marguerite and Pat were members of the First Christian Church in Red Oak and Marguerite was a member of the church circle. Marguerite worked at the Good Samaritan Care Center retiring after 12 years of employment. She has been a resident of the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center since September of 1994.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Donald "Pat" Ackerman on October 11, 1993; daughter: Rowene Erickson; brother: Howard Riepe; and sisters: Ione Riepe and Helen Watkins. Survivors include her daughter: Connie Morse of Omaha, Nebraska; grandsons: Stephen Sitzman of Omaha, Nebraska; and Clint Erickson and wife Cynthia of Russiaville, Indiana; great grandchildren: Clinton, Elizabeth, Kimberly, and Zachary Erickson all of Russiaville, Indiana; brother: Lawrence Riepe of Griswold, Iowa; sister: Della Smith of Griswold, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Griswold, Iowa Cemetery . DOROTHY ANN FRANK
Dorothy Ann Frank, a longtime resident of Villisca, Iowa, passed away on February 8, 2007, at her residence in Gainesville, Fl. The cause of death was attributed to complications of diabetes.
Dorothy was born in Mound City, Missouri, on November 30, 1926, to Bryan J. and Louise Williams. She had taught school in the Mound City area, and for many years operated "Dorothy Ann's Flower Shop" in Villisca until retiring in 2003 and moving to Florida. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Frank, her parents, two sisters, Betty Lee White and Theresa Williams, and one brother, Edward K. Williams and his wife, Betty Jean. She is survived by one brother Norman Williams and wife, Marjorie of Lake City, Florida, and five nephews, Kenny Williams, Brian Williams, David Williams, Bill White and Dan White, and three nieces, Grace Getz, Patty Williams and Kathy Renaud, plus numerous great nieces and nephews.
The body is being cremated and memorial services will be held in Atlantic, Iowa on March 24th at 5 o'clock PM in Fellowship Hall at The First Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 1834, Merrifield, VA 22116-8034, or to Norman Williams, 1235 SW Bedenbaugh Ln, Lake City, FL, 32025.
EVELYN ODSON
Evelyn Odson, of Villisca, died February 23, 2007 at Villisca Good Samaritan Center.
Evelyn was born November 22, 1915, Douglas Township, Adams County, Iowa to Henry Martin and Julia (Anderson) Peterson.
She was married November 22, 1934 to Elmo Edward Odson. To their union three children were born - daughters: Marilyn and Janice. In later years they also made a home for 3 grandchilren: Matt, Terri & Mark Johnston.
Evelyn attend Corning High School. She was a member of the Strand Church, Strand Ladies Aid and spent Wednesdays at the church quilting to help prepare for the yearly church bazaar. She enjoyed neighborhood get-togethers, playing cards, having parties for weddings, showers and birthdays, flowers & bird watching. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed trips with both family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband in 1992; brother, Harold Peterson; Son-in-law, Herbert Phillis Brothers-in-law: Paul (Mildred) Odson, Marvin (Mary) Odson, and Merle (Lola) Odson.
She is survived by daughters Marilyn (Jerry) Barnard, Corning, IA, Sherry (Roger) Stanbaugh, Hemet, CA, and Janice Phillis, Villisca, IA. Brother-in-law, Glen (Dorothy) Odson, Corning, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great, great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service in Corning, Iowa with Rev. John Swenson officiating. Burial was at Stand Cemetery
in Adams County.
