Ada Mae Walker, 84, of Burlington, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Great River Medical Center.

Born June 23, 1921 in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Barkley and Flora Knox Maddox. On October 3, 1940 she married Eugene “Gene” Harlan Walker in Burlington. He died November 26, 1998.

Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and also a teachers aid at St. Patrick’s School. She was a member of SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church. She was a prolific writer of letters to the editor and was an active worker for Legion of Mary for 12 years.

Survivors include one son, Patrick (Margaret) Walker of Burlington; one daughter, Anne Souza of Denver, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Smyth of West Burlington.

Her husband, parents, one son, Lawrence Walker; an infant grandson; two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established.

Barbara Walker
July 19, 1939 ~ November 11, 2005

Barbara Mae Walker, 66, of Burlington died on Friday, November 11, 2005, at Great River Medical Center.

Born July 19, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Helen Bailey Coen. On November 7, 1959 she married Randall Lonn Walker in the Danville Baptist Church.

She was a 1957 graduate of Danville High School and attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota for two years. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

Barbara was Co-Owner and Operator of Coen Plumbing, Inc. since 1948, she also owned The Cutting Edge and Barbara’s Quilts.

She loved to scrapbook, take pictures and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Barbara loved to decorate, especially hanging wallpaper. She was a wonderful baker, gardener, and seamstress. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and for over forty years she provided music weekly for services at Harmony Bible Church. Barbara ran the Five Day Club in Danville. She was an avid reader, especially historical and biblical biographies but most of all her favorite pastime was spending time with the Lord.

Survivors include her husband, Randall Walker of Burlington; Children, Lonn (Beth) Walker of Burlington, Lance (Gina) Walker of Burlington, Jill (John) Fullenkamp of Danville and Donavin Enoah-Walker of Springfield, Illinois. Six Grandchildren, Karlyn and Krystal Walker and Kaitlin Smith, Mikayla Walker, Megan and Ethan Fullenkamp, all of Burlington; and one sister, Betty Kay (Jim) Hunsucker of Clovis, New Mexico.

Her parents and one niece, Tiffany Hunsucker, preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established.

Corwyn C. Walker
November 3, 1917 - June 11, 2006

- There will be no visitation or funeral service.
-According the Mr. Walker's wishes, his body has been cremated.

Corwyn C. Walker, 88, of West Burlington and formerly of New London died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Great River Medical Center’s – Klein Center.

Born November 3, 1917 in Yarmouth, he was the son of Richard B. and Catherine D. Wegener Walker. On January 15, 1938 he married Margaret Phoebe Duke in Kahoka, Missouri. She died November 5, 2002.

Mr. Walker was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as an Allied Van Lines truck driver for 33 years, retiring in 1973. He was of the Methodist faith and a former member of the Teamsters Union, V.F.W., Eagles and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, crewel working, reading, and was a harness man making harnesses for horses and stagecoaches, and was an avid gardener.

Survivors include three daughters, D. Jean (Terry) Morse of Leesburg, Florida, Patricia Ann (Jim) Allen of New London and Cathy Lee (Randy) Reid of St. Louis, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Miller of Burlington and Grace Westfall of West Burlington; and two brothers, Vern Walker of Seattle, Washington and Albert Walker of Davenport.

His wife, parents, an infant son, and two brothers Gilbert Walker of Biggsville, Illinois and Wayne Walker of Burlington preceded him in death.

There will be no visitation or service. According to Mr. Walker’s wishes, his body has been cremated.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105.

Lunning Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Robert "Bobby" M. Walsh
June 19, 1951 - May 20, 2006

-Interment: Tuesday, May 30th, 11:00 AM, Aspen Grove Cemetery , Burlington, IA

Robert “Bobby” Matthew Walsh, 54, of Phoenix, Arizona, and formerly of Burlington and Jacksonville, Florida, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at his home.

Born June 19, 1951 in Burlington, he was the son of Robert Eugene and Gertrude Johnson Meinsen and James Gresham Walsh.

Mr. Walsh was a 1969 graduate of West Burlington High School, 1972 graduate of Southeastern Community College and a 1975 graduate of Drake University College of Pharmacy. He was a licensed pharmacist in Iowa, Arizona and Florida. He worked at Walgreen Company in Phoenix and had worked at Shopko Pharmacy in Fort Madison. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Arizona Pharmacy Association and Iowa Pharmacy Association. He enjoyed computers, reading, writing, exercising, golfing, sunbathing, painting and doing caricatures. He very much loved time with family and friends. Bobby loved life and never felt he was better than anyone else.

Mr. Walsh was the author of the book “One White Horse”. He had earned a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do Karate. In 1978 he won the Mr. Iowa Physique Contest and in 1979 the Mr. Midwest Physique Contest. In College he modeled for two magazines.

Survivors include his mother, Gertrude E. Meinsen of West Burlington; three brothers, Phil Walsh of West Burlington, Michael (Grace) Walsh and James (Susan) Walsh-Meinsen both of Addison, New York; one sister, Mary Anne (Patrick) Ricks of Iowa City; eight nieces and nephews, Randy Walsh, Michelle Watts, Megan Walsh, John Ricks, Joan McGillin, David Walsh, John Walsh and Michael Gilbert; eight great nieces and nephews, Shamis and Liam McGillin, Amber and Jennifer Watts, Piper and Zoe Walsh and Oscar and Elizabeth Gilbert; and cousins.

His father, James Walsh, and stepfather, Robert Meinsen, preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established for Iowa Donor Network.

Marjaleen Ruth Wamsley
December 21, 1926 - October 19, 2006

-Friends May Call: Sunday, October 22nd, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
-Family Visitation: Sunday, October 22nd, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Lunning Chapel.
-Funeral Service: Monday, October 23rd, 10:30 AM in Bethany Lutheran Church.
The Reverend Carl Engstrom will officiate.
-Interment: Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Marjaleen Ruth Wamsley, 79, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006, at Burlington Care Center.

Born December 21, 1926 in Fairfield, Iowa, she was the daughter of Guy and Gladys Kirk Hillman. On July 2, 1944 she married Glenn E. Wamsley in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mrs. Wamsley was a 1944 graduate of Fairfield (Iowa) High School. She worked as a secretary at Washington School for 27 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, and taught Sunday school for 20 years. She also was a member of Rebecca Circle, was president of P.T.A. in Washington School, president of Central Council P.T.A., and a den mother for Cub Scouts Pack No. 4.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn E. Wamsley of Burlington; three sons, Rick (Linda) Wamsley of rural Carman, Illinois, James (Mariangela Rivers) Wamsley of Pfafftown, North Carolina, and Dennis (Janis) Wamsley of Conroe, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Her parents and one sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call after noon Sunday, October 22nd, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Wamsley will be Monday, October 23rd, at 10:30 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Engstrom officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Church.

Ada Waters
May 7, 1912 - October 12, 2005

-Services: Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 2:00 PM in Jaggar Cemetery , rural Danville for a Graveside Memorial Service.

Ada Mix Waters, 93, of Danville died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born May 7, 1912, in Danville, she was the daughter of Bert and Ana Gugeler Mix. On February 12, 1936 she married Howard Waters in Danville. He died October 1, 1992.

Mrs. Waters was a farm wife. She taught school prior to her marriage.

She was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College for Two years. She was a lifelong resident of Danville and a lifetime member of Danville Congregational United Church of Christ. She was active in the work of the church on a sate and national level. She was the first president of the Women's Fellowship of United Church of Christ of Iowa, past state president of both the American Cancer Society and Iowa Tuberculosis Association, a charter member of Burlington Alturas Club and engaged in many volunteer organizations. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women Volunteers.

Survivors include two nephews, Bert Hoppe of El Centro, CA, and Paul Drinkall of Danville; and on niece, Sylvia Rogers of Arvada, CO.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

A memorial has been established for Danville Rescue Squad. Memorials may be sent to Lunning Chapel at 2620 Mt. Pleasant Street, Burlington, IA, 52601

Charlotte Evelyn Watt
May 13, 1917 - October 28, 2005

Service: Friday, November 4, 2005 at 2:00 PM in Aspen Grove Cemetery for a Graveside Memorial Service.
Charlotte Evelyn Watt, 88, of Burlington, died at 5:07 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 13, 1917, in East St. Louis, IL, she was the daughter of Lee Roy and Inez Lucille Dunlap Torloting. On March 5, 1955, she married Arthur Watt in Monmouth, IL. He died July 24, 1994.

Mrs. Watt was a service representative for the Social Security Administration for 25 years, retiring in 1980.

She was a graduate of high school and attended two years at Brown University Business School in St. Louis. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a resident of Burlington since 1942.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Lila Watt Brown of Columbus, NJ; three step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale G. Parker of Salem, OR; two half brothers, Robert N. Parker of Hillsboro, CA and John "Bill" W. Parker of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.

A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.

Ronald Dean Watts
March 17, 1946 - May 28, 2006

According to his wishes, the body of Mr. Watts has been cremated.
-Interment: Stronghurst Cemetery , Stronghurst, Illinois

Ronald Dean Watts, 60, of Burlington, Iowa died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2006 at his home.

Born March 17, 1946 in Hannibal, Missouri, he was the son of Leslie Edward and Lola Mae Purvis Watts. On November 13, 1967 he married Kathryn R. Wells in Burlington.

Ron was a purification operator at the City of Burlington Water Treatment Plant for 25 years until the time of his retirement in 2002 because of his health.

He was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church and the 224th Engineers National Guard. He enjoyed model railroading, all car racing, mowing, fishing, being outdoors, boating on the river and traveling. He was a Chicago Bears fan.

Survivors include his wife Kathy Watts of Burlington; three sons, Tom (Shelly) Watts of Burlington, Steve (Angie) Watts of Wapello, Iowa and Robert “Robbie” Bryant of Green Bay, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Tyler, Madison, Caden and Sami; mother Lola Watts of Burlington; two brothers, Jim (Pat) Watts and Jerry Watts both of Burlington; 4 nieces and 1 nephew.

His father and one nephew preceded him in death.

A memorial for Great River Hospice has been established.

According to his wishes, the body of Mr. Watts has been cremated.
