Charlen Richtsmeier
Charlen Richtsmeier, 64, Iowa Falls, died Saturday at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora, with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery , Geneva. Linn’s Funeral Home, Iowa Falls Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
Charlen M. Akey was born May 20, 1937 at Kalispell, Mont., the daughter of Everett J. and Metilda M. Cartie Akey. She graduated from Akin, Minn. Community Schools and also graduated from the Duluth Nursing School, Duluth, Minn. She was married to Robert C. Thompson II in 1958. They were later divorced. She married Robert Smith in 1988; they were later divorced. She was united in marriage to Dean A. Richtsmeier on April 8, 2000 at St. Peter’s Church in Geneva. She was a licensed practical nurse with the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls.
Charlen is survived by her husband, Dean A. Richtsmeier of Iowa Falls; two daughters, Barbara Benson and husband Randy of Forest City; Pamela White and husband Gary of Webster City; two sons, Robert C. Thompson III and wife Patty of New Providence; Richard Thompson of Hendersonville, Tenn.; two step children, Lee Richtsmeier of Ankeny and Susan Richtsmeier of Guernesville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Steffno, Minnesota.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eldora.

Richard O. Alvestad
Richard O. Alvestad, 82, Ames, formerly of Blairsburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell with Rev. Marvin Dooley officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at Blairsburg.
Richard Alvestad, son of Lewis and Mearl Skilbred Alvestad, was born May 6, 1920 at Blairsburg. He was a lifelong resident of Blairsburg. He moved to Ames in January of 2002. Mr. Alvestad served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He married Mary Fresenborg on Feb. 24, 1968. He was a farmer and was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, the Blairsburg Lions Club, and Webster City American Legion Post.
His wife, Mary, and a brother, LeVerne Alvestad of Williams, survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Sterling Alvestad.

Golda Bauer
Golda Bauer, 90, Fort Dodge, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Shelley officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery . Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.
Golda Blanche Vulgamott, daughter of James and Millie Riley Vulgamott, was born Feb. 19, 1912 at Webster City. She attended Webster City Schools, On May 29, 1931, she married Russell Bauer at Humboldt. The couple farmed west of Webster City for several years, then farmed west of Palmer. In 1965, they moved to Webster City. She had worked at Thompson’s Pharmacy for several years. Mr. Bauer died August 17, 1986. She had resided at Crestview Manor for 2 years and the Marian Home for five years.
Mrs. Bauer is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Derrald and Sally Bauer of Centerville, Richard and Eileen Bauer of Glendale, Ariz., Garry and Pat Bauer of Bettendorf; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Richard Olson of Fort Dodge; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Vulgamott of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Vera Temple of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Grace Wehrheim Boushelle.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Darlene Berry
Darlene Berry, 77, Stanhope, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial was prior to the service in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Darlene Lee Clabaugh, daughter of LeRoy and Leona Wills Clabaugh, was born Sept. 18, 1925 on a farm north of Stanhope. She attended rural schools and graduated from Stanhope Consolidated School in 1943. She worked as a Bell Telephone operator in Webster City. On August 28, 1944, she married Donald Lowell Berry at Stanhope. The couple resided at Stanhope for a short time, they farmed southwest of Webster City for 38 years. They retired in 1985 and moved to Woolstock. Mr. Berry died April 2, 1989. She moved to Stanhope in 1995. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Berry is survived by daughters, Connie Caquelin of Woolstock; Janet Mathews of Des Moines; Jane Berry of Webster City; sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Berry of Lincoln, Neb.; Duane and Pam Berry of Clarion; Rodney Berry and friend Jody Lane of Ames; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorene Franklin of Boone; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Henry Caquelin; her parents and a brother, Richard L. Clabaugh.
She was a member of Woolstock United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women; Woolstock Legion Auxiliary, FB Club, and a former 4-H Leader.

Keith J. Vegors
Keith J. Vegors, 84, Webster City, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at the Plaza Healthcare Center in Scottsdale, Ariz. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Carter and Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial of the ashes will be Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery . Graveside military rites will be conducted bv American Legion Post # 191. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with Foster Funeral Home.
Keith Juhl Vegors, son of Vern and Christina “Deda” Juhl Vegors, was born May 3, 1918 at Webster City. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1935. He attended Iowa State University in Ames. On August 19, 1941, he married Lucille Evelyn Bell at Princeton, Mo. The couple farmed west and east of Webster City, moving to Webster City in 1968. As a prominent businessman, he owned and operated Vegors Livestock of Webster City and Penney Ranch in Hamilton, Mo. Mr. Vegors and his wife wintered in Scottsdale, Ariz. for more than 30 years. Mrs. Vegors died Feb. 26, 1996.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Jo Peterson of Hurleyville, NY, sons and daughter-in-law, Keith J. and Carolyn Vegors of South Lake, Texas, Kenneth J. Vegors of Scottsdale, Ariz., grandchildren, Brent and Jenelle Peterson, Leigh Ann Barnett, Tom Luong, Jay and Anne-Marie Vegors; brother, Dr. M. Mason Vegors of Ames; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
His memberships included, Faith United Methodist Church, a 38-year board member of the First State Bank, Elks Lodge, Iowa Cattlemens Association, American Quarterhorse Association, a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, and American Legion Post #191.
Memorials may be given to a scholarship fund established by the Vegors Family for farm youth in Hamilton County.

Stanley Cammerrer
Stanley Cammerrer, 89, Duncombe, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Crestview Manor in Webster City. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with the Rev. David Deckard, pastor of the Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe, officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery with military rites presented by VFW Post 1856.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Lois Cammerrer of Burnsville, Minn., grandchildren, Jeff and Todd Cammerrer, Lisa Stiele and great-grandchildren,, Kelly, Kari and Vanessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Winifred Jacobson Cammerrer, wife Muriel in 2001, brother Clarence and sister Evelyn Tinney.
Stanley E. Cammerrer was born Oct. 19, 1913 in Fort Dodge. He attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge high School. Stanley then attended and graduated from Fort Dodge Junior College. On Feb. 20, 1942, he was united in marriage to Muriel M. Vog. Shortly after their marriage, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Railroad Battalion at the Persian Gulf in World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Fort Dodge. The family moved to Duncombe in 1952 where they made their home. He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad for many years. Stanley coached little league baseball in Duncombe for several years and was also active in various youth activities in the Duncombe area.
Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.

Elmer White
Elmer White, 82, Stratford, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services are Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stratford. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Visitation is Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford, and 1 hour prior to services at the church.

Norma Beehrle
Norma Beehrle, 69, Dardanelle, Ark., a former Webster City resident, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003 at a daughter's home in Dardanelle.
Born Nov. 11, 1933 at Kamrar, she was preceded in death by her father, Henry Anderson, husband Jack Beehrle, brother, Leroy Anderson and sisters Irene Stubbs and Vera Whiteley.
Survivors are her mother, Katie Anderson of Webster City, two sons, Rodgeny Beehrle of Dardanelle, Ark., Todd Beehrle of Eagle Grove, three daughters, Pamela Morris of Sioux Falls, SD, Connie Ruhl and Shelly Lane of Dardanelle, Ark.; three brothers, Sterling Anderson, Des Moines, Henery Anderson, Webster City, and Frank Anderson of Colgate, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Lindquist, Webster City; and Elaine Olson, Anchorage, Alaska; 16 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Jan. 28 at the Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle, Ark. With Chaplain Henry Magee officiating.

Enid Blecken
Enid Blecken, 86, Webster City, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery . Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Enid Marie Margaret Bingen, daughter of John and Caroline Dix Bingen, was born August 26, 1916 at Marshfield, Wis. She received her education in the Marshfield school system, graduating in 1934. On May 28, 1938, she married Oliver Clifford Blenken at Unity, Wis. They resided in Oshkosh, Wis., then Northfield, Minn. In 1946, they moved to Webster City where they resided for 20 years. They moved to Monmouth, Ill., and returned to Webster City in 1971 following their retirement. Mr. Blecken died March 12, 1993. She moved to Crestview in August of 1996.
Mrs. Blecken is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Rita Blecken, West Des Moines; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Thomas Eling of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Leslie Blecken and Christopher Eling.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Orville Bingen.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

John G. Clum
John G. Clum, 81, Webster City, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery . Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home.
John Gordon Clum, son of Jess and Mildred Stevens Clum, was born Sept. 24, 1921 on a farm south of Webster City. He received his education from the Ellsworth Schools. On July 27, 1941, he married Beulah Mae Scott at Ellsworth.
The couple farmed in the Stanhope and Webster City areas before moving to Webster City in 1950. He was employed at Arrow-Acme for 33 years, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Clum died Feb. 15, 1998.
Mr. Clum is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, George and Leandra Clum, Webster City; Grandchildren, Rodney Clum of Webster City, Kyle Clum of Mason City, and Staci Goos of Des Moines; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Rose of Ashland, Neb.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Beulah, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Louise Hulsebus and Edith Good.
Mr. Clum was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He kept himself busy doing handyman tasks in the community and his church.

Robert "Bob" Nelson
Robert "Bob" Nelson, 65, Mt. Vernon, formerly of Webster City, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Vernon officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery , Fort Dodge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Robert Dean Nelson, son of Wilbur and Valene Porter Nelson, was born Nov. 7, 1937 at Eldora. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1956. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Iowa National Guard, 133rd Batallion Co. E. Infantry, where he served on the rifle team. On June 18, 1960, he married Barbara Ann Hagen at Webster City. The couple later divorced. Mr. Nelson was employed as an iron-worker for 22 years until his retirement. He taught welding at Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids and farmed for several years following his retirement from iron work. He was the past president of the Iron Worker's Local 89 in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Cindy Nelson, Cedar Rapids, daughter and son-in-law, Nichole and John Flynn of Chicago, grandson and his wife, Joey and Kianna Nelson of Cedar Rapids; brothers and sister-in-law, Kenny and Pat Nelson of Duncombe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Lowell Mechaelsen, Karen and the late Fritz Weir, all of Webster City; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of the Hamilton County Saddle Club for many years, where he won numerous awards and blue ribbons. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and football games.

Floyd Karr
Floyd Karr, 82, Stratford, died at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Funeral home in Stratford with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday until the service time. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery at Lehigh.
