Margaret Arends
Margaret Arends, 89, formerly of rural Jewell, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2004 at the Community Church of Kamrar with Pastor Todd Jones to officiate. Burial will follow at the First Presbyterian Cemetery near Kamrar. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Margaret was born August 3, 1914 on a farm near Kamrar to Joe and Hilka (Welp) Tempel. On June 2, 1937 Margaret married Wyatt Arends Sr. on a live broadcast of the Shenandoah radio station in Shenandoah, Iowa. They farmed south of Blairsburg until 1943 when the moved to a farm north of Jewell. Margaret was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar. She loved her family and enjoyed singing her grandchildren to sleep with a song she had written for them.
Margaret is survived by her son, Eldon and wife, Carolyn of Jewell; granddaughters, Carrie Arends of Murphy, South Carolina, Julie Arends Peterson and Kellie Arends Cavan both of Jewell; grandson, Shannon Wyatt Arends of Malloy, Iowa; great grandchildren, Michael Peterson, Kristin Peterson, MaKayla Cavan, Hailey Cavan, Breann Arends, Logan Wyatt Arends, Baylee Arends, and Hunter Arends; three sisters, Katie Tempel Hassebrock of Webster City, Ruth Tempel Anderson of Iowa Falls, and Naomi Tempel Parks of Webster City; and a brother, Elton Tempel of Kamrar. Her parents; her husband, Wyatt Arends Sr.; her son, Wyatt Arends Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Rita Madsen Arends; a sister, Dorothy Tempel Hoversten; and brothers, John, Richard, Virgil, Harold, Don, and Joe Tempel preceded her in death.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her son, Eldon, who faithfully went to Southfield Wellness Community daily with her favorite treat: a can of Mountain Dew.

Neil Pampel
Neil Pampel, 96, Pharr, Texas, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at the Las Palmas Health Center in McAllen, Texas. His body was cremated. Memorial services for Neil Pampel will be Saturday, March 27 at the Behner Funeral Home and Crematory, Fairfield, Iowa, with Rev. Marvin Robeck to officiate. Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Chapel.

Paul E. Mann
Paul E. Mann, 86, of Webster City, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Southfield Wellness Community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. John Flaherty, celebrant. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church. A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edna Marie Meline
Edna Marie Meline, 95, of Sheridan, died Monday afternoon, March 29, 2004, at Sheridan Manor. A memorial service will be held in Webster City, Iowa, at a later date.
Edna Marie (Arenkiel) Meline, daughter of Ingverd and Anna Arenkiel, was born on a farm August 24, 1908 at Verona, North Dakota. In 1928 she met Theodore W. Meline of LaMoure, North Dakota and they were married August 7, 1929 at Oakes, North Dakota. They moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa and in 1939 they moved to Webster City, Iowa where Ted worked for Beam Manufacturing Co, later W.C.I. Products. Edna was employed at the Hahne Printing Co for 24 years, retiring in 1972. Edna and Ted celebrated 67 years of marriage prior to his death 1997.
Edna is survived by two daughters, Joan (Claude) McClain, Naples, Florida, and Charlotte Frary, Monroe, Michigan, a son, Theodore R. (Carolyn) Meline, Sheridan, Wyoming, five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Edna was a long time active member of the First Congregational Church UCC, Church circles, and the Senior Citizens Center of Webster City, Iowa.

Richard Edward Baldus
Richard Edward Baldus, 67, Jewell, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services are pending with Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.

Linda Jean Miles
Linda Jean Miles, 54, passed away Friday, May 21, 2004 at Omaha, Neb. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2004 at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha.
She was born Sept. 25, 1949 in Ames, Iowa. Linda J. Britson Miles, the daughter of Anna M. “Peggy” (Blackwood) Britson and Wallace E. Britson. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1967. Linda graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She married Bill Miles on March 29,1970. Linda and Bill lived in Norfolk, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wally Britson, and her grandparents.
Survivors are her husband, Bill; and two daughters, Sandi (Dennis) Duckert, Omaha, Neb., and Susan (Steve) Miles, Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren, Jodi, Jami and Nick Duckert; her mother, Peggy Britson of Webster City; four brothers, Bruce (Lorna) Britson, Davenport; Wes (Gabe) Britson, Wichita, Kan.; Stan (Jan) Britson, Onalaska, Wis.; Calvin (Lonnie) Britson, Pearland, Texas; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jessie Nicholson
Jessie Nicholson, 86, Webster City, died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery , north of Blairsburg. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and prior to the services on Tuesday.

Benjamin Brown
Benjamin Brown, 62, of Crawfordsville, Iowa died Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Vintage House at Crawfordsville. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery , with Rev. Scott Jones officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral Home and Cremation services.
Benjamin Bakewell Brown, son of Lyman and Rilla Boynton Brown, was born December 18, 1941 at Webster City. He received his education in the Webster City school system graduating from Lincoln High in 1960. He served with the U.S. Marines in the Phillipines and Japan. Following his discharge, he resided in various locations in Iowa. He had resided at the Vintage House since September of 1998.
Mr. Brown is survived by his mother, Rilla Brown of Russellville, Ar.;brothers, Douglas Brown of Clear Lake, Mn.; Phillip Brown of Marshalltown; sister, Martha Ballantine of Russellville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister in infancy, Barbara Brown; brother, David Brown and his grandparents.

Leona Louise (King) Greenfield
Leona Louise (King) Greenfield, 76, passed away October 14, 2004 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames where she had been hospitalized in recent weeks due to end-stage renal disease and complications from chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Visitation will be held at the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell, where her family will be present to greet friends on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 18, at the First Presbyterian Church, east of Kamrar, with the Rev. John Wilson officiating.
A fellowship lunch will follow burial, also at the church.
Leona was born November 5, 1927 in rural Kamrar to Nellie (Oglesbee) King and Edward King. Following graduation from Blairsburg High School in 1945, Leona worked for the Red Cross in Webster City, and for Zitteral Mills Construction Company, before marrying her true love, Donald Greenfield, on January 20, 1952. Leona and Don farmed near Kamrar during their 52 years of marriage; where they also raised two sons. Leona was a long-time active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar, where she quietly served the needs of others in many loving ways until recent years when the deterioration of her health kept her close to home. In addition to serving the Lord through her local church, Leona loved cooking for her family, working in the yard and flower garden, bible study and spending time with her four grandchildren.
Leona is survived by her husband, Donald; her son, Bruce (wife, Danette) of rural Huxley; her daughter-in-law, Ann Greenfield, of Jewell; two grandsons: Dan Greenfield of Cleveland, Ohio, and Alex Greenfield of Lakewood, Colorado; two granddaughters: Katie and Karie Greenfield, both of Jewell; and her sister, Edna Rodenborn of Webster City. She was preceded in death by her son, Kreg; her sister, Arlene (King) Klaver; her parents; and her brother, Eugene.

Arthur E. Weise
Arthur E. Weise, 82, Algona, died Oct. 14, 2004 at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, with burial in East Lawn Cemetery , Algona. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Harry E. Krieg
Rev. Harry E. Krieg, 77, Rochester, Minn., died Nov. 27, 2004 at Season’s Hospice in Rochester. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson, Minn. Burial is in the church cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, Rochester, Minn. and Wednesday at the church one hour before the service.
Harry Edward Krieg was born March 31, 1927 to Harry and Edna Olson Krieg in Minneapolis, Minn. and graduated from South High School in Minneapolis in 1945. After high school, he worked in sales for several years for Augsberg Publishing House and also attended Augsburg College. He married Eunice Arlene Erickson on June 5, 1948. He entered the Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. at age 35 and was ordained as an American Lutheran Church minister. He served as pastor at Williams from 1967-1971 and Roland from 1987 to 1993.
Survivors include daughters, Karla (Ken) Wetzler of Webster City, Wanda Jurrens of Kasson, Minn., and Sandra “Tia” Miller of Kasson, Minn.; sons, Dr. Lon (Jan) Krieg, Mantorville, Minn., Dr. David Krieg of Merrium, Kan.; and Steven (Lisa) Krieg of Decorah 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one grandson.

Larry R. Heck
Larry R. Heck, 57, Eagle Grove, formerly of Webster City, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004. Funeral services are pending and will be announced later from Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Raymond Jorgensen, 89, Williams

Raymond Christian Jorgensen, 89, a long time Williams, Iowa resident, passed away Monday October 10, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls.

Raymond was born June 12, 1917 in Sandstone, Minnesota. He received his education from the Dorchester, Wisconsin Schools. Following his education, he joined the Civialian Conservation Corp. for one year and then entered the U.S. Army during W.W. II. On April 1, 1943, he married Rosaline Berding at Mason City. They moved to Osage, IA. where they farmed. They then moved to Princeton, MO. where they purchased a farm. Due to health problems, he retired from farming and worked as a janitor for the Princeton Missouri School system. They moved to Williams in 1961 and Ray continued as a school janitor for Northeast Hamilton School. He retired in 1982, but continued to drive a school bus and worked part time as a janitor. They continued to live in Williams until 2003, when Rosie developed heart trouble and they moved to Heritage Care Center. Mrs. Jorgensen died February 1, 2005.

In addition to his wife, Rosie, he was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Martha Jorgensen; four brothers, Lawrence, Irving, Hans, and Norman Jorgensen and grandson, Aaron Burnett.

He is survived by his three children, David and wife Twyla Jorgensen, Rena and husband Dan Burnett all of Blairsburg, Donald and wife Amy Jorgensen of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg, with Rev. Bill Keller officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Center Cemetery south of Blairsburg, with graveside military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #633 of Williams. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center, Webster City, and prior to services Saturday at the church.

Pamela Joy Law, 53, Duncombe

Pamela Joy Law, 53, of Duncombe, lost her eight year battle with breast cancer on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe with graveside services to follow at the Washington Lutheran Cemetery . Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Pam is survived by her husband, Larry; her four children, Ryan Law of Stanhope and special friend, Cindy Lester of Windsor Heights; Amanda Law Beaulieu and husband, Matthew of Dakota Dunes, SD; Sara Law Fox of Duncombe; and Craig Law of Ames with special friend, Kelly Whitmore of Webster City; three grandchildren, Jacob and Addyson Beaulieu and Logan Fox; her parents, two sisters, Patsy (Keith) Brock of Webster City and Sonja (David) Hayes of Webster City; mother-in-law, Genavee Law of Duncombe; two sister-in-laws, DeAnn (Wes) Weuve of Bondurant and Joyce Brown of Webster City; a brother-in-law, Bob (Kim) Law of Vincent; and 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Mathilda Anderson and maternal grandparents, Willis and Edith Heatherington; father-in-law, Mervin Law and brother-in-law, Doug Brown.

Pam was born on November 19, 1952 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge to Leonard and Joyce Anderson. She grew up on a farm outside of Duncombe and attended Webster City Community Schools, graduating in 1971. She attended Iowa Central Community College and graduated with certification as a dental assistant. Pam married her high school sweetheart, Larry Edward Law, on August 12, 1972, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They made their home on a farm west of Duncombe where Pam loved to be involved in the farming operation and supported the men with wonderful meals. She worked for Dr. Haynes in Webster City and Dr. Baber in Fort Dodge. Pam worked as a secretary in the Webster City High School from 1999 until the spring of 2003. Pam was an active member of Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe. As part of her faith walk she sang with the Agape Singers, was active in Lutheran League. She has taught Sunday School, Bible School and Confirmation Classes; been a member of Ruth Circle and served on several boards. Pam enjoyed music, gardening, and spending time with family and friends, especially the trips with Larry to warm beaches. Her family was a treasured part of her life and she showed it through her constant generosity and loving spirit. Her family is comforted by knowing the God is holding her in the palm of his hand. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Pam’s name to cancer research.

Vera E. Hisler, 96, Webster City

Vera E. Hisler, 96, Webster City, a former resident of Duncombe, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2006 at Hamilton Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Duncombe. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery , Duncombe. Recitation of the rosary will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, Webster City. Visitation will follow the rosary until 8 p.m. and prior to the funeral mass on Wednesday.

Vera Evelyn Schumacher, daughter of Anthony and Margaret Bromley Schumacher, was born Feb. 18, 1910, on a farm in rural Eagle Grove. On Dec. 29, 1936, she married C.A. Jack Hisler in Clarion. The couple farmed in the Blairsburg and Eagle Grove areas and then moved to a farm east of Duncombe where they farmed for 38 years. They retired in 1982 and moved into Duncombe. Mr. Hisler preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1989. She has resided at Southfield Wellness Community apartments in Webster City for the past three years.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucretia and James Barger, Woodward, Kathryn and Kent Stravers of Lacona; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Della Hisler, Sioux City, James and Kathy Hisler, Webster City, Charles and Joan Hisler, Duncombe, and Robert and Mary Hisler of Woolstock; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Peck and Lillie Gronbach, and several nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by a son in infancy; a granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters. Vera was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling. Cooking, sewing and crocheting were her favorite hobbies. Her family was her life—enjoying her children and all of her grandchildren and the many good times they shared.

Epsie L. Struck, 91, Stratford

Epsie L. Babcock Struck, 91, of Stratford, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Chapel in the Athens Woods Estates in Stratford, Iowa, with Rev. Jim Meade officiating. There will be no visitation or burial. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center, Webster City.

Epsie Louise Hodson, daughter of Elam and Donna Burton Hodson was born on September 1, 1915 at Galesburg, IL. She graduated from Donnellson High School in 1934. In June of 1937, she married Clarence Babcock. Her main vocation was as a homemaker raising her four children. Mr. Babcock died in October of 1985. In May of 1987, she married Harry Struck. The couple resided in Stratford.

In addition to her husband, Harry, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law,

Gene and Marlys Babcock of South Rockwood, MI., Bruce and Sylvia Babcock of Norfolk, VA.; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Curt Conklin of Stratford, Sue and Hugh Crandall of Edinboro, PA.; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren; stepson, Howard and wife, Michelle Struck; and stepdaughter, Sandy and husband, Tom Bennett all of Roseland, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Babcock; one sister and three brothers.

Mrs. Struck attended the First Baptist Church in Stratford.

Chief Harry A. Struck, 96, Stratford

Chief Harry A. Struck, 96, of Stratford, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel of the Athens Woods Estates in Stratford with Rev. Jim Mead officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Beverly Hills, Florida at a later date. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center, Webster City.

Harry Atwood Struck, son of Howard and Elizabeth Bultman Struck was born on September 3, 1910 in Newark, New Jersey. He received his education and graduated from Newark High School. He attended Newark College of Engineering. In 1931, he married Amanda Rebecca Norman in Port Jarvis, New York. The couple resided in Glen Ridge, NJ for over 20 years. Harry worked as an engineer surveyor for the Essex County Park Commission from 1927 until 1937, when he then joined the Essex County Park Police. Harry was promoted to Sergeant in 1947, and quickly rose through the ranks and became Chief of Police for Essex County in 1957. He retired in 1976. His wife, Amanda died on October 6, 1986. In May of 1987, he married Epsie L. Babcock. The couple resided in rural Lecanto, FL. The couple later moved to Stratford. Epsie died on October 5, 2006.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Thomas Bennett, son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Michelle Struck all of Roseland, NJ.; step children, Gene and Marlys Babcock of South Rockwood, MI., Bruce and Sylvia Babcock of Norfolk, Va., Lynn and husband Curt Conklin of Stratford, Sue and Husband Hugh Crandall of Edinboro, PA.; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives Amanda and Epsie; daughter, Arlene Rae Struck; sister, Gladys Buckelew and brother, William Struck.

Harry attended First Baptist Church in Stratford and the Christian Center Church in Homosassa, FL. He was a member of the International Chiefs Association, New Jersey State Police Association, Essex County Chiefs Association, Policemens Benevolent Association Local #54, and life member of Gideons International.

Robert W. Butschy, 79, Cedar Falls

Robert W. Butschy, 79, died October 4, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, surrounded by family and friends in the last days of his life. Private inurnment will be at Westview Cemetery , LaPorte Cit. A memorial fund in honor of Robert W. Butschy has been set up to provide scholarships for jazz students at the University of Northern Iowa. Memorials may be sent to Robert W. Esther Mortenson, 91, Story City

Esther Mortenson, age 91, formerly of Jewell, passed from this life to life eternal on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Bethany Manor in Story City where she has resided for the past five years. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the United Church of Christ in Jewell with Chaplain Sandy Anenson to officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation will be Friday evening at Becker Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Esther Mabel Mechaelsen was born November 1, 1914, in Kamrar to Grace (Olthoff) and Benjamin Mechaelsen. She grew up in the Kamrar area, attended the Kamrar schools graduating from Kamrar High School in 1932. She worked for Gilbert Grocery prior to her marriage. On March 20, 1937, Esther married Richard Clifford Mortenson in Kamrar. They farmed northeast of Jewell where she lived for 64 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jewell.

Esther is survived by four children, Dick (Kathy) Mortenson of Jewell, Cliff Mortenson of Cedar Falls, Linda (Paul) Hove of Kewanee, Illinois, and Clair (Sue) Mortenson of Boone; eleven grandsons; a granddaughter; three great grandsons; and three great granddaughters.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 1991; a granddaughter, Robyn Christie Mortenson in 1984; her daughter, Sue Cafferty in 2004; a daughter-in-law, Jane Mortenson; three sisters, Bertha Welp, Ella Jans, and Louise Mechaelsen; and three brothers, Seafke, Joe, and Oliver.

Jerold R. Ruhl Sr., 63, Blairsburg

Jerold R. Ruhl Sr., 63, of Blairsburg, died Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Ruhl residence at 504 2nd Street, Blairsburg. Foster Funeral & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Jerold Ray Ruhl Sr. son of Carl and Gwyn Latch Ruhl was born on June 8, 1943 at Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Blairsburg High School. Following his education, he was employed with Franklins Manufacturing (Electrolux) for many years. He had also worked as a custodian for the Webster City Senior High School.

In addition to his parents, Carl and Gwyn Ruhl, 104 - 82 Woody Ruhl Lane, Dardanelle, AR. 72834; he is survived by Cindy Ruhl and their children, Christine Ruhl of Blairsburg, Jerold “Jerry” Ruhl Jr. of Nora Springs; grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Hedeen of Duncombe and Lacy Marie McConnell of Blairsburg; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Lyle Hawkins; brother and sister-in-law, David and Connie Ruhl all of Dardanelle, AR.; sister-in-law, Martha Ballentine of Delaware, AR; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruhl was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Ruhl and nephew, Jeffrey Hetland.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City.

Velma Blue, 92, Webster City

Velma G. Blue, 92, of Webster City, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery . Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center.

Velma Gladys Koop, daughter of John and Jennie Welp Koop was born on November 12, 1913 at Kamrar. She graduated from Kamrar High School and attended Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught at a rural school in the Kamrar area. On March 1, 1936, she married Arthur R. Blue on her parent’s farm east of Kamrar. The couple resided and farmed east of Webster City. In 1976, the couple retired from farming and moved into Webster City. Mr. Blue died April 20, 1995. She had been residing at Crestview Senior living for the past 11 years.

Velma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Arlene Blue of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Denis Graves of Jefferson; grandchildren, Kristin (Mrs. Nick) Davenport of Rhodes, Alison Blue of Cedar Falls, Nolan Blue of Iowa Falls, Danielle Graves of Brookings, S.D., Matthew and Nathan Graves of Jefferson. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Avenelle (Mrs. John A.) Koop of Kamrar; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Harriet Jansen, Hilka Heeren, Jennie Blue and brothers, Adolph and John A. Koop.

Velma was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid for many years, and was a member of the Independence Friendly Neighbors Club.
