Frank Heitmeier

Frank Edward "Ed" Heitmeier, 43, of Mount Union, died following an extended illness with ALS Lou Gehrig's Disease Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born March 10, 1961, in Burlington, he was the son of Willis Edwin and Eunice Baker Heitmeier. On Sept. 22, 2000, he married Letha A. Haynes in Iowa City.

Mr. Heitmeier worked at Harv's Auto Body in Iowa City.

He was a 1979 graduate of Mediapolis High School. He attended Southeastern Community College for two years, earning his auto body technology degree. He enjoyed cooking, cars and sports, including the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Blake and Ross of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Janelle Heitmeier of Burlington; two stepsons, Anthony and Cody Green of Solon; and three sisters, Janice Voss of Iowa City, Jeanne Hartman of San Jose, Calif., and Nancy Kamenoff of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service for Mr. Heitmeier will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leonard Schantz officiating. Burial will be in Shinar Church Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.

A memorial has been established for Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Jennie Gallup

Jennie Lee Gallup, 87, of Burlington, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Burlington Care Center.

Born Jan. 9, 1917, in Hannibal, Mo., she was the daughter of Jess Lee and Sarah Altha Maiden Herron. On April 13, 1952, she married Fred Gallup in Burlington. He died Feb. 26, 1970.

Mrs. Gallup worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Sylvania and Sterzing.

She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed doing yard work.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Patricia Higdon of West Burlington and Marilyn Graham of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

There will be no visitation.

The graveside service for Mrs. Gallup will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis, with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating.

A memorial has been established for Burlington Care Center.

Hass–Thielen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Tena Schultz

Tena Mae Schultz, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died after a short illness Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at her home.

Born Jan. 4, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, she was the daughter of John and Mildred Case Welter. On Sept. 5, 1970, she married John Schultz in Mediapolis. He died Feb. 11, 1992.

Mrs. Schultz worked at the Butterfly Café. She was a beautician on and off for close to 40 years. She worked for the Cedar Rapids Schools from 1988 to 1993 as the health secretary for Taylor. She then became the secretary to the principal at Hiawatha. In 1995, she became the secretary to the principal at Grant Early Childhood Development.

She was involved in the Red Hat Society, CRAEOP and was active in school PTA and volunteered at all the schools.

Survivors include one son, Brad Schultz of Cedar Rapids; one granddaughter; her mother of Mediapolis, one brother, Mike Welter of Sigourney; one nephew and one niece.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son and her father.

The funeral for Mrs. Schultz was Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, 3100 F Ave., NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405–2947. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family c/o Brad Schultz, 393 18th St. S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.

Katherine "Kathy" M. Phillips

The funeral service for Mrs. Katherine "Kathy" Marie Phillips, 49, who died Thursday, December 4, 2003, will be today at 10:00 AM in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Tom Smith will officiate. Interment will be at 2:30 PM in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa. Friends may call after 8:00 AM until the time of service. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.

Robert James Smith

The funeral service for Mr. Robert "Bob" James Smith, 81, who died Saturday, December 6, 2003, will be Wed–nesday, December 10th, at 10:00 AM in Lunning Chapel. Pastor Ron Jewett will officiate. Interment will be at 3:00 PM in Palo Cemetery , Palo, Iowa. Friends may call after 8:00 AM today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial has been established.

Beulah Rewerts

The funeral service for Mrs. Beulah Brown Augsburger Rewerts, 93, who died Sunday, December 7, 2003, will be Wed–nesday, December 10th, at 1:30 PM in Lunning Chapel. Rev. Ron Kelway will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery . Friends may call after 8:00 AM today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial has been established.

Louise Sale

Louise Dorsey Sale, 79, of Keokuk, died at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Lexington Square in Keokuk.

Born March 7, 1925, in Bernie, Mo., she was the daughter of Albert and Lila May Barnes Carr. On Feb. 15, 1959, she married James Leroy Sale. He died Dec. 15, 1992.

Mrs. Sale worked in production at Shellor Globe in Keokuk for 34 1/2 years. She retired in 1984.

She lived most of her life in the IowaIllinois area. She was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk, the M&M Circle, Friendly Sunday School class, Local 444 Retiree Club, Retiree Craft Club and the KAH Auxiliary. She volunteered at the hospital and in 2001 was volunteer of the year. She was an excellent baker.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Dewayne Carr and James E. Sale, both of Keokuk; one daughter, Jean Nickel of Keokuk; 10 grandchildren; eight great–grandchildren; three great–great–grandchildren; one brother, A.W. "Bud" Carr of Camp Point, Ill.; three sisters, Goldie Greve and Leranell Burke, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Hazel Gatlin of Neelyville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, five brothers, two sisters and her stepfather.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Sale will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at DeJong's Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

Memorials have been established for First Christian Church in Keokuk and Lee County Hospice.

Vernon Tesch

Vernon L. Tesch, 90, formerly of Carthage, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Heartland Health Center in Macomb, Ill.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Carthage.

The graveside service for Mr. Tesch will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Cemetery , St. Mary's, Ill., near Colmar.

Peggy Goodall

Peggy L. Goodall, 62, of Vinton, died after a long illness Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at her home.

Born Aug. 28, 1941, in Cambridge, Mass., she was the daughter of Pearle and Evelyn Groves. On Sept. 14, 1966, she married Dale L. Goodall in Cedar Ra–pids. He died in 2002.

Mrs. Goodall was an inspector of U.S. Nameplate for more than 23 years, retiring in 1997.

She enjoyed crafts and games.

Survivors include five daughters, Evelyn Brown of Riverside, Diana Musgrove of Palo, Cynthia Davis of Yarmouth, Brenda Goodall of Muscatine and Malinda Goodall of Vinton; three sons, Robert Goodall of Rock Falls, Ill., and Tom Chittenden and Steven Goodall, both of Cedar Rapids; 18 grandchildren; and two sisters, Joanne Lavalle of Maine and Kathryn Groves of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

The funeral for Mrs. Goodall will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

R. Eugene Overstreet

R. Eugene "Potter" Overstreet, 68, of Keosauqua died at 12:04 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Born Sept. 22, 1936, near Raritan, Ill., he was the son of LaVerne and Frances Rankin Overstreet. On July 6, 1957, he married Charlotte Carruthers in Keosauqua. She died Sept. 26, 1978. On Jan. 9, 1982, he married Sherry Hannam Hornbaker in Farmington.

Mr. Overstreet was a heavy equipment operator in highway construction.

He graduated from Milton High School and was a member of Bloomfield Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Cantril; four sons, Jay, Bob and Rollie Overstreet of Bloomfield and Ron Overstreet of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Rhonda Northup of Bloomfield; one stepson, Mike Hornbaker of Rockwall, Texas; three stepdaughters, Lea Keller of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Benton of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Julie Malloy of West Des Moines; two brothers, Rex Overstreet of Stockport and Byron Overstreet of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Delores Hannam of Newport Beach, Calif.; and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Overstreet will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bloomfield Christian Church, with the Revs. James Wakelin and Tiffany Austin officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F Cemetery in Bloomfield.

A memorial has been established for Bloomfield Christian Church or Cantril Grass Roots.

Wynonnia Vogt

Wynonnia Elaine Vogt, 76, of Letts, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at her daughter's home in LeClaire.

Born Feb. 28, 1928, on Muscatine Island, she was the daughter of Everett Jackson and Bertha Edna Blake Blake.

Mrs. Vogt worked with her first husband, Richard Brockett, at the Phillips 66 service station in Letts in the '50s. She was a cook for the Skynook Café and the Letts School System and later worked 14 years as a dietary aide at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers and animals.

Survivors include one son, Patrick Brockett of Wapello; two daughters, Cathy Haller of LeClaire and Jewell Vogt of Lockridge; five grandchildren; seven great–grandchildren; three stepchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 14 stepgreat–grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one stepdaughter and one brother.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Stacy–Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction.

The funeral for Mrs. Vogt will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stacy–Lewis Funeral Home, with Chaplain Alice Martin of the Hospice Care of VNA officiating. Burial will be in Letts Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
