Jeanne Evans

DAVENPORT -- Services for Jeanne L. Evans, Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary. Visitation is one hour before the service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Jeanne died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Intergrated Health Services, Lakeland, Fla. Jeanne Largent was born May 13, 1924, in Davenport, to Fred and Estella (Deutchman) Largent. She married John J. Evans on March 10, 1945, in Davenport. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1942. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, wintering in Florida and Caribbean cruises. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Memorials may be made to Teddy Bear Club at Angler's Green, in care of Bernice Cook, 277 Five Iron Drive, Mulberry, Fla., 33860. Survivors include her husband, John; sister-in-law, Doris E. Evans, Bettendorf; and eight nieces and nephews.

Roger LaBrecque

DAVENPORT -- Memorial services for Roger J. LaBrecque, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. No public visitation will be held. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery , Davenport, following a brief illness. Mr. LaBrecque died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. Roger James LaBrecque was born Dec. 26, 1949, in Ludlow, Mass., to Romeo Joseph and Dorothy Eleanor (Abair) LaBrecque. He married Denise Marie Chapdelaine on Feb. 13, 1991, in Las Vegas. Roger had been employed by Hagerty Brothers and Precision Industries as a customer service representative in the warehouse at IPSCO Steel at the Montpelier location. Prior to moving to Davenport, Roger and his wife had been employed by Colonial Candle of Cape Cod. He was a member of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife, Denise; daughters, Emilee Renee LaBrecque and Hannah Marie LaBrecque, both of Davenport; his mother, Dorothy E. LaBrecque-Belisle, and stepfather, Leonard Belisle, Ludlow, Mass.; brothers, Rodney, Foster City, Calif., Jay, Waterbury, Conn., and Donald, Ludlow, Mass.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henri and Lillian Ann Chapdelaine, Davenport; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Chapdelaine Davis, Rock Island, Marie Ann Connolly, Davenport, Annette Marie Winters, Paducah, Ky., and Corinne Marie Rasso, Bettendorf; brother-in-law, Henri Andre Chapdelaine, Milan, Ill.; and 18 loving nieces and nephews. His father, Romeo Joseph LaBrecque, preceded him in death.

Carla Fuller

ROCK ISLAND -- Carla J. Fuller, Rock Island, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at her home. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, Ill. The Rev. Robert Hagen will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery , Taylor Ridge, Ill. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island. Carla retired as manager of Camelot Campgrounds, Rock Island. Before that, she worked at International Harvester, East Moline, and Eagle Warehouse, Milan. She also had done house cleaning for others. Carla Terrill was born June 24, 1951, in Moline, to Carl E. and Shirley J. (Wilkens) Terrill. She married Johnnie R. Fuller on April 26, 1973, in Rock Island. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley. She also was a member of Women of the Moose, Rock Island. She had bowled 25 years in the Rock Island League. She enjoyed camping, reading and collecting Isabel Blooms. She was a close friend to many people. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie; daughters, Michelle (Mrs. Randy) Melody, Rock Island, Wendy McNeal-Steines, Monmouth, Ill., and Jenny (Mrs. Patrick) Gordon, Rock Island; grandchildren, Kelsey and Alex Melody; her mother and stepfather, Shirley and Dennis Miller, Milan, Ill.; sisters, Jeanette Waterman, Port Byron, Ill., and Bonnie Hendricks, Rock Island; brothers, Robert Terrill, Bettendorf, and Thomas Terrill, Andalusia, Ill.; and a stepsister, Susan Isaacs, southern Illinois. She was preceded in death by her father.

Cecile Taylor

SPEARFISH, S.D. -- Services for Cecile Taylor, Spearfish, formerly of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. today at Oak Ridge Cemetery , Deadwood. Miss Taylor died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility, Spearfish. Fidler Funeral Home, Spearfish, is in charge of arrangements. She taught for 40 years in Davenport schools and retired from Adams School. She was born Feb. 28, 1901, in Earlham, Iowa. Survivors include sisters, Vivian Melton, Spearfish, and Flodine Millis, West Des Moines.

Jeffrey Sherman

DAVENPORT -- Services for Jeffrey L. Sherman, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until services time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery , Buffalo, Iowa. Mr. Sherman died unexpectedly Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. He was born July 19, 1971, in Iowa City. He married Tammy Raymond in 1995 in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include his wife, Tammy; daughters, Monica and Tiffany; his mother, Joan LaMar, Davenport; his father, David Sherman, Peoria, Ill.; sisters, Marilyn Perkins, Lila Janeczko and Frances Schafer, all of Davenport; and brothers, Roy Caskey and Austin LaMar, both of Davenport, Terry and Dale LaMar, both of Moline, Johnny LaMar, Rock Island, and Tom LaMar, Ramsey, Ill.

Viola Rothert

BETTENDORF -- Viola E. Rothert, a resident of Bettendorf, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport. Private family services will be held. No visitation will be held. McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is in charge of arrangements. Viola Roggendorf was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Thomson, Ill. She married Richard Lohse in 1947 in Clinton, Iowa. She married Marvin Rothert in 1952 in Camanche, Iowa. He died in 1973. Survivors include daughters, Katie Grell, Davenport, and Sandy Van Zandt, Barbara Brebner and Karen Bashaw, all of Bettendorf; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Hadesbeck, Bettendorf, Betty Kelly, Clinton, and Carolyn Wells, of Oklahoma; and brothers, Richard Roggendorf, Clinton, and Harold Roggendorf, Bettendorf.

Jeanette Pike

CLINTON, Iowa -- Services for Jeanette G. Webb Pike, of 326 1st Ave., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery . Mrs. Pike died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton-North Campus. She was a homemaker. Jeanette Landguth was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Clinton. She married Cowan Webb in 1936 in Illinois. He died in 1952. She married Richard Pike in 1974. He died in 1991. Survivors include daughters, Dr. Sheila Webb, Jacksonville, Ala., and Sandra Webb, Minneapolis; stepsons, Rick Pike, Clinton, and Dave Pike, of Illinois; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Bill Sheer

MILAN, Ill. -- William E. Sheer, Milan, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal, with military services by American Legion/Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 569, 200 and 1303. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Sheer was employed as a building estimator at UBC. He retired in 1999. He was born June 18, 1924, in Geneseo. He married Doris Humphrey in 1966 in Rock Island. He earlier had married Mildred Breedlove. During World War II, he served in the Army. Memorials may be made to the national World War II memorial. Survivors include his wife, Doris; daughters, Teresa Ballinger, Seminole, Fla., and Linda Hendrickson, Hazel Crest, Ill.; sons, Scott, Milan, and Marc, Arvada, Colo.; a stepson, Wayne Carlson, Windom, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Gaillard Helms

ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Gaillard H. Helms, Rock Island, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Knox-Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Helms died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at his home. He retired in 1970 as a machine operator after 35 years at the former International Harvester, Farmall Works, Rock Island. He was born Sept. 6, 1907, in Macomb, Ill. He married Marjorie Matherly in 1946 in Cambridge, Ill. She died in 1987. During World War II, he served in the Army. He received two Bronze Campaign Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star medal and a Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Johnson, Taylor Ridge, Ill.; a son, Gaylord, Moline; four grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Nina Spreckelmeyer

MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Services for Nina E. Spreckelmeyer, Maquoketa, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, Maquoketa. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery , Maquoketa. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Spreckelmeyer died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Maquoketa Care Center. Before her marriage, she was employed as a secretary at Hall-Roberts, Postville, and later in Des Moines. She also had been a bookkeeper and office clerk at the hospital in Redfield. Nina Hinman was born June 23, 1908, in Bellevue. She married Herman Spreckelmeyer in 1936. He preceded her in death. Memorials maybe made to First United Methodist Church, Maquoketa. Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Ilene Bentley

ROCK ISLAND -- Services for Ilene M. Bentley, of 2545 24th St., will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island, with a wake at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Bentley died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at River Park Health Care Center, Rock Island. She was employed as a seamstress at Regalia Manufacturing, Rock Island. In her early years, she worked at the former New York Store, Rock Island. During World War II, she worked on the Gold Star Flag for Sullivan Brothers. Ilene Clark was born Jan. 23, 1909. She married Harold Bentley in 1927 in Rock Island. He died in 1954. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Freese, East Moline; sons, Gerald, Silvis, Ill., and Richard, Rock Island; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Granet, Colona, Ill.; and a brother, Charles Clark, Silvis.

Rosalyn Bender

DeWITT, Iowa -- Services for Rosalyn B. Bender, DeWitt, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery , DeWitt. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Mrs. Bender died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Rosalyn Hinrichs was born Sept. 22, 1914, near Grand Mound. She married Elmer Bender in 1935 in Lost Nation. He died in 1972. Survivors include sons, William "Bill," Grand Mound, Ronald, Yuma, Ariz., David, DeWitt, and Terry, West Branch; 15 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and a sister, Gladys Lausen, DeWitt.
