Cecilia Zimmer

CLINTON, Iowa -- Cecilia Zimmer, formerly of Hollywood, Calif., died May 28, 2000, in Boise, Idaho. The body was cremated. Private services will be held later in Calvary Hill Cemetery , Fulton. Lemke Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. Miss Zimmer worked in the film industry in California, beginning in film lab work and ending her career 46 years later in film editing. She worked at 20th Century, Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Fox Studios and Swift Chaplin Productions. She edited the film "Hawaii" and the "Lassie" TV program among others. She was born March 21, 1908, in Fulton, Ill. Survivors include a niece, Florence Dingmon, Clinton; and nephews, Joe Zimmer, Boise, Dave Zimmer, Long Grove.

Ellen Weiler

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Services for Ellen E. Weiler, West Liberty, formerly of Fort Madison, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty. Visitation is noon until services time. Burial will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery , Fort Madison. Mrs. Weiler died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her daughter's home after an extended illness. She was born March 10, 1909, in Palo. She married William Weiler in 1950. He died in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Dolores Windus, West Liberty; a stepdaughter, Lona Thomas, Fort Madison; stepsons, William Weiler, Fort Madison, Raliegh Weiler, Dunedin, Fla., and Gary Weiler, Spokane, Wash.; five granddaughters; 14 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Irene Frendle, Liberty, Mo., and Mildred Morgan, Lone Tree.

Genevieve Craig

WEST BRANCH, Iowa -- Services for Genevieve E. Craig, West Branch, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at West Branch United Methodist Church. Visitation is one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be Friday in Almer Cemetery , Caro, Mich. Mrs. Craig died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Crestview Care and Rehabilitation Center, West Branch, after a brief illness. Barker Funeral Home, West Branch, is in charge of arrangements. She had done hand work and sold her items at flea markets. She was born March 1, 1918, in Caro. She married Willis Craig. Survivors include sons, Beaudry, Caro, Dallas, Reese, Mich., Leon, Titusville, Fla., and Kenneth R., Coralville; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Henrietta Dunbar

KEWANEE, Ill. -- Services for Henrietta Dunbar, Kewanee, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Inc., Kewanee. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery , Kewanee. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Dunbar died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her home. She was employed for more than 40 years as a nurse at Kewanee Public Hospital. She retired in 1974. She was a foster mother for many years through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Henrietta Lanpher was born June 18, 1908, in Whiteside County. She married Earl Dunbar in 1930. He died in 1980. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Kewanee, or Abilities Plus. Survivors include daughters, Laura Plessouski, Kewanee, and Sandra Dunbar, Galesburg; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Frank Colbert

RIVERSIDE, Iowa -- Services for Timothy F. "Frank" Colbert, Riverside, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Riverside. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery , Riverside. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Riverside, with a wake at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Colbert died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. He was employed for 30 years as a route salesman at ARA Services, Cedar Rapids. He was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Riverside. He had served in the Army. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include daughter, Yvonnne Bickel, Marengo; sons, Mark, Iowa City, Phil, Riverside, and Paul and Michael, both of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Watkinson, Riverside, and Helen Slaughter and Johanna Sleichter, both of Iowa City; and brother, Robert, Riverside.

Jewel Appleby

DAVENPORT -- Services for Jewel M. Appleby, Davenport, will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Jewel passed away Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. She worked several years in the assembly department at Brammer Manufacturing. Jewel was born July 8, 1924, in Bettendorf. She was the daughter of Ralph and Cleo (Sanders) Hendricksen. She married Homer L. Appleby on Jan. 22, 1946, in Davenport. He died April 11, 1993. She enjoyed fishing, puzzles, bingo, going to the riverboats, spending time outdoors, observing nature and camping. She will always be remembered for her Sunday dinners in which everyone came to. Her greatest achievement was raising her nine children. Memorials may be made to the family. She is survived by sons, Ralph, Milan, Ill., Robert, Jerry and Homer, Davenport, Jim, Glendale, Ariz., and Terry, Long Grove, Iowa; daughters, Betty (Mrs. Gary) Dulaney, Davenport, Peggy (Mrs. Arnie) Waldron, LeClaire, Iowa, and Cleo (Mrs. Marvin) Smith, West Liberty, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five brothers and six sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Brian.

Alfred Sennett Jr.

DAVENPORT -- Services for Alfred L. "Sonny" Sennett Jr., Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Alfred died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Alfred was employed 35 years as a truck driver at Alcoa and was planning to retire in May. He was born May 13, 1939, in Davenport, the son of Alfred Sr. and Irma (Lashell) Sennett. He married Karen Staggs on July 8, 1961, in Davenport. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Survivors include his wife, Karen; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Kelli Sennett of California and Martin and Cindy Sennett, Davenport; a daughter and fiancé, Joanne Sennett and Kevin Burkhead, Davenport; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Laura Andersen, Buffalo, Iowa, and Shirley De Pardo, Dorothy Batten and Claudia Roberts, all of Davenport; and his mother, Irma Sennett, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his father.

Shirley Kline

DAVENPORT -- Services for Shirley M. Kline, Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery , Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Shirley died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at her home. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Dr. Charles Preacher and the Moose Lodge, Davenport, and served as secretary and treasurer for the Mississippi Valley Restaurant Association. She was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Davenport, to Harry and Esther (Spivak) Lipsman. She married Ed Kline on Feb. 21, 1959, in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family. Survivors include her husband, Ed; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and John Herbers, Norman, Okla., and Suzanne Kline McCoy and Randy McCoy, Duluth, Ga.; a daughter, Stephanie Kline-Miller, Duluth, Ga.; grandchildren, Zachary Herbers, Abbi Herbers, Paul Miller, Katie Miller, Ryne Miller, Austin McCoy and Kylie McCoy; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and John Meade, Davenport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Victor and Frances Lipsman, Scottsdale, Ariz., Milton and Jeri Lipsman, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Howard and Geri Lipsman, Naples, Fla.; a brother, Jack Lipsman, Eugene, Ore.; a special niece and husband, Cindy and Gerry Goldstein, Chicago; and best friend, Dona Segura, Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe and Sam Lipsman; and a sister, Judy Abshez, Toronto, Canada.

Gladys Claussen

MCCAUSLAND, Iowa -- Services for Gladys C. Claussen, McCausland, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at McCausland United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Mrs. Claussen died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, after a brief illness. She drove a bus for North Scott schools for 18 years. Gladys Schneckloth was born May 8, 1917, in Princeton. She married Alvin Claussen in 1948. During World War II, she served in the Women's Army Corps. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include a son, Lloyd, Camanche; and a brother, Rollie Schneckloth, Park View.

Marion Steinecke

BETTENDORF -- Services for Marion Steinecke, Bettendorf, will be 10:30 a.m. today at Willow Grove (RLDS) Church, Bettendorf. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Mrs. Steinecke died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements. She was a homemaker. Marion Webber was born July 29, 1916, in rural Scott County. She married Henry Steinecke in 1938 in Rock Island. He died in 1993. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willow Grove (RLDS), Bettendorf. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Herdt, Bettendorf; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Paul Pence

ROCK ISLAND -- Paul R. Pence, Rock Island, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, where he was a member. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery , Rock Island. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Paul had worked as a carpenter for 40 years. He worked through Carpenter's Union Local 166, Rock Island. He had served as a trustee of the Union for 12 years and had worked for three years as the Rock Island County building inspector. Mr. Pence was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Rutledge, Mo., the son of William and Ethel (Hendricks) Pence. He married Norma J. Gleason on June 10, 1949, in Memphis, Mo. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Memorials may be made to the church. Survivors include his wife, Norma; sons, Mark Pence and his friend, Robert Archer, Wheaton, Ill., and Barry Pence and his wife, Kay, Rock Island; grandsons, Paul Pence, Moline, and Adam Pence, Milan, Ill.; a great-grandson, Logan Pence; and a sister, Wilene Boley, Simi Valley, Calif. A daughter, Paulette Cobert, his parents, a brother and a sister, preceded him in death.
