John Terrence Fitzgerald, age 95, of Fonda, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda, with interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Mahaney Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Alice (Nelson) Ulrich, age 91, of Sac City, was called to her eternal death on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Park View Care Center in Sac City.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Early.
Robert “Bob” Nielson
Robert L. “ Bob” Nielson, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Bruce Lawler at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Storm Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Sunday, June 25, 2006 from 3-8 p.m., where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary recitation at 7: 30 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Emery Haake, age 90, of Galva, Iowa, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in Aurelia, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva, with Reverend Paul Egger officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery near Galva. Nancy Gaffey
Nancy Laureen Gaffey was born
on September 18, 1963 in Boone, Iowa to Jim and Lonnie Gaffey. She moved to Alta when she was two weeks old. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta.
Nancy died on June 8, 2006 at Cayuna Medical Center in Crosby, Minn. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on July 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta.
Ralph “Sid” Harrington
Sid Harrington passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 29, 2006 at his home in Storm Lake. He was 77.
Services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at Lakeside Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 2, from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Fratzke-Jensen Funeral Home.
Zora Baughman

Dolores Ann Hopkins, age 78, of Lake View, formerly of Early, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Dolores was born
Jan. 6, 1928, to George and Alice Drey at the family farm west of Early. As a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a grandmother, and a great grandmother, Dolores left gifts to all those her life touched.
The mass of the Christian burial will be held Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. Father Larry Burns of Early and Father Larry McCarty of Sac City will officiate the mass with burial at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Sac City. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early with a rosary at 4 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m.

Raymond F. Reis, age 85, of Fonda, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2006, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Burial will be in Varina at St. Columbkille Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the W. D. Steiner Post #588 of Varina. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Mahaney Funeral Home in Fonda. A parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m. that same evening, both at the funeral home.

Martin C. Simonson, age 82, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Ross Lesher
Graveside memorial services for Ross Lesher, age 67 of Westside, who left on his final long-haul to paradise Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. Ross was moved to the hospital from his daughter Bethany’s home on June 27, where he had been receiving care from his children.
Services were held Saturday, July 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Washington Cemetery in Gravity. Memorials can be given in his name. Arrangements were by Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Agnes Scott, age 73, of Storm Lake, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

Roger Rydberg, age 65, of Storm Lake, were held Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Sliefert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dean R. Layman, age 88, of Newell, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at Newell Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Newell United Methodist Church, with flag presentation by Newell American Legion Post 193 at the church. Burial will be in Newell Cemetery at a later date. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell is in charge of arrangements.
Lyle Rydstrom
Lyle W. Rydstrom, of Storm Lake, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness at the age of 89 years, four months, and 18 days.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Youngquist officiating. Burial was in Scandinavian Cemetery, Alta, with military rites by Alta V.F.W. Post 6172. Barker Funeral Home of Alta was in charge of the arrangements.
Carl Heschke
Carl Heschke, age 83, of Fonda, died on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
A memorial service for Mr. Heschke will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services.
Doris “Jean” Berg
Doris “Jean” Berg, age 79, of Storm Lake, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services for Mrs. Berg were held Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church with Rev. Duane Queen officiating. Interment was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery with committal services preceding the memorial service. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Donna Jean Fude, age 87, of Sioux City and formerly of Webb, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fude will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids, with Father Al Riecks officiating at the Mass for Christian Burial. Helen Dowd
Helen F. Dowd, age 86, passed away on Dec. 20, 2006, at University Hospitals in Omaha. Funeral services were held at St. Cecilia’s Cathedral in Omaha on Friday, Dec. 22.
Helen Wright was born
in Storm Lake in 1920. She grew up in Storm Lake and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She later married
Bill Dowd of Omaha, Neb. They made their home in Omaha and Bill worked at the post office in Boystown until retiring.
Donald Murray
Former Iowa State Senator Donald W. Murray, 83, of Ankeny died Dec. 26, 2006.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny, with burial following at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Ivan T. Anderson, age 96, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, February 5, 2007 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
