Sithane Phiakhamta, age 46, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Sithane Xaimoungkhoun was born July 13, 1960 in Paksan, Laos. On April 14, 1975, she was married to Jeremy Phiakhamta in Laos. They were blessed with three children: Ken, Bill and Mary.

Sithane was a devoted wife and mother who treasured her family and the time she spent with them. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She liked watching Thai movies, dressing up and going shopping. When her grandchildren were born, they held a very special place in her heart. Sithane’s caring presence will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 31years, Jeremy Phiakhamta of Storm Lake; sons Ken and Bill of Storm Lake; daughter Mary of Iowa City, Iowa; grandsons Marcus and Ethan; two brothers, Kampeui Siharath; one sister, extended family and many friends.

Sithane was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

William McMullen

William “Bill” McMullen, age 79, o f Webb, Iowa, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, with Reverend Moody Colorado officiating. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery prior to memorial services.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 5, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present.

William Neal McMullen was born February 23, 1927 in Royal, Iowa to Edward Neal and Buena Pearl (Richardson) McMullen. He was baptized as an infant into the Christian faith in Royal. Bill attended grade school in Greenville and Webb, Iowa before graduating from Providence Consolidated High School in Sulphur Springs, Iowa. Following high school, Bill served in the United States Army during World War II.

On October 21, 1949, Bill was united in marriage to Carol Bryant at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with three children: Kathryn, Thomas and Michael. Bill spent his life working the land and living on the farm. He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, where he taught Sunday School and served as a Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion, as well as a member and longtime secretary of Perfection Lodge 651 in Webb.

Bill’s first priority, however, was always his family, whom he loved, and he treasured any time spent with them. In his later years, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather, a caring brother and uncle, and a valued friend to all.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Carol McMullen of Webb; daughter Kathryn (Ian) Hermann of Columbia, Missouri; son Thomas McMullen of Spencer, Iowa; son Michael McMullen of Webb; grandchildren: Rachel Hermann and Sharon (Brad) Stevenson, of Columbia, Missouri; Almeda Marie (Patrick) McDonald of Herndon, Virginia; Erin McMullen of Des Moines, Iowa; and Christopher McMullen of Greenville, Iowa; great-grandchildren Ethan and Ariah; sister Mary Lou (John) Miller of Clive, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law; Dick and Sharon Bryant of Harcourt, Iowa; Jean Webb of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Roberta and Bob Raab of Shoreview, Minnesota; a niece and many nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Yvonne L. Hoberman

Yvonne Hoberman, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, August 7, 2006 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake with burial to follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Reverend Michael Harmon will officiate. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Yvonne Lois Hartman was born February 3, 1924 in Kimball, Minnesota to Henry and Minnie Hartman. She was baptized as an infant at the Methodist Church in Kimball, and later confirmed in the same church. Yvonne received her education in Kimball, attending both grade and high school there before graduating from Kimball High School in 1942.

On March 11, 1947, Yvonne was united in marriage to Wilbert L. Hoberman at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake. They were blessed with a daughter, Barbara. Yvonne was a devoted wife and mother who took great care to see that she kept a warm and comfortable home for her family. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and handwork. Yvonne loved flowers of all kinds, but she especially liked violets.

Beyond her family and home, Yvonne was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid, was a past Secretary of Ladies Aid and a past Sunday School teacher. She also shared her time with her community, serving as a Meals on Wheels volunteer and was a member of the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Auxilliary for 25 years.

In her later years, Yvonne’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were special treasures within the family she loved. Her gentle caring presence will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Wilbert of Storm Lake; her daughter, Barbara and husband Lee Huebner of Hutchinson, Minnesota; granddaughter Kelly and husband Jon Burkart of Apple Valley, Minnesota; granddaughter Kimberly Huebner of Maplewood, Minnesota; grandson Michael Huebner of Lincoln, Nebraska; great-grandchildren Ryan and Owen Burkart of Apple Valley, Minnesota; four nieces, two nephews; extended family and friends.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Agnes M. Beauchemin

Agnes M. Beauchemin, age 88, of Monticello, Minnesota and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 in Champlin, Minnesota.

Funeral mass for Mrs. Beauchemin will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m. A Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service held at 7:00 p.m., both at the funeral home during visitation hours.

Agnes Mary Kennedy was born December 21, 1918 in Early, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Emma (Schmitt) Kennedy. She was baptized as an infant in the Catholic faith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and later confirmed her faith as a youth in the same parish. She attended classes at St. Mary’s School in Storm Lake from grade school until she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1935.

Following her high school graduation, Agnes attended beauty school, then worked at Turner Beauty Shop in Storm Lake for several years before moving to Sioux City to work, where she met and fell in love with a handsome young man by the name of Paul Beauchemin.

On April 29, 1947, Agnes and Paul were married. The couple was blessed with seven children: Gayle, Phil, Greg, Steve, Elyse, Terry and Raymond.

Agnes kept a warm and comfortable home for her family as she and Paul raised their children in Storm Lake. Later on, she worked as a cashier at Hy-Vee in Storm Lake until her retirement in 1986.

Agnes was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake until she moved to Monticello, Minnesota in 1995 to be near her children. She then became a member of St. Henry’s parish in Monticello. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and in later years, she especially enjoyed her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. A loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Agnes will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Phil (Lisa) Beauchemin of Phoenix, Arizona and Greg Beauchemin of Denver, Colorado; her daughters: Gayle Fortune of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Elyse (Donny) Farris of Champlin, Minnesota and Terry (Greg) Currie of Monticello, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Beauchemin; her two sons, Steve and Raymond; and six brothers: Gerald, Cecil, Charles, Mark, Lawrence and Leroy.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Boneta M. Jensen

Boneta M. Jensen, age 78, of Newell, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa with Pastor Barb Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2007 from 4-8:00 pm at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell where the family will be present to greet friends.

Bonnie was born on February 4, 1929 in Sac City, Iowa to Warren and Alice (Larimer) Corderman. She attended country school and graduated from Newell High School. After graduation, Bonnie worked as a nurse’s aid at Swallum Hospital in Storm Lake.

On June 30, 1948, Bonnie married Virgil Jensen in Spencer, Iowa. They made their home on the farm in Newell. They were blessed with three children: Kathy, Kolesa and Bob.

Bonnie was baptized at the Nain Lutheran Church where she remained a lifelong member. In addition, Bonnie was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hatters, Newell Library Board and women of the ELCA. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, golfing and reading. Bonnie worked part-time at the Newell Good Samaritan Center for fifteen years, and eight years at the high school library.

Bonnie felt fortunate to have her children and their families in the area to enjoy their activities and visits.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathy Krogstad and her husband Lynn, Kolesa Kier and husband Steve and Bob Jensen, all of Newell. She is survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, soon to be eight. They include Ryan Krogstad and his wife Trish of Austin, Texas, Chad Krogstad of Madison, Wisconsin, Tabitha DeMay and her husband Ryan of Newell, Amanda Brown and her husband Kenyon of Spencer, Tammy O’Brien and her husband Tim of Burlington, California, Mindy Kier of Newell and Kyle Nielsen of Storm Lake. Also surviving Bonnie are her brother, Russell Corderman and his wife Maxine of Newell; twin sister, Bernie Stoffregen of Sac City; brothers-in-law: Rolan Gibbons and his wife Gwen of Sac City and Merlyn Jensen of Gowrie; sisters-in-law: Velma Corderman of Sun Lake, Arizona and Eula Peterson and her husband Howard of Newell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; two brothers: Morris and Bob Corderman; toddler/younger sister, Virginia; and sister, Betty Gibbons.

Edwin P. Madsen

Edwin P. Madsen, age 78, of Rembrandt, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Services for Mr. Madsen will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens, Iowa, with Reverend Allan Reicks and Reverend Dale Launderville concelebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, with full military rites presented by the Sioux Rapids American Legion Post 394.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present. A Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m., both at the funeral home during the visitation hours.

Edwin Patrick Madsen was born on March 10, 1929 in Denison, Iowa, the son of Edwin Albert and Marie Catherine (Sheridan) Madsen. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed as a youth into the Catholic faith. Ed attended classes at Havelock and Lincoln Lee Township schools before graduating from Rembrandt High School in 1946. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict before he was honorably discharged.

On June 17, 1953, Ed was united in holy matrimony with Bonnie Lenz in Spencer, Iowa. The couple was blessed with 10 children: Terry, Rich, Ron, Pat, Paul, Mary Jo, Dave, Dan Sherry and Eddie.

Ed was a man who loved the land, so it only made sense that he spent his life doing what he loved, farming and raising cattle. An active and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids, Ed believed in living his faith from day to day. He gave back to the community in which he worked and raised his family. He served as a Lee township trustee, and gave of his time as both a member and president of the Rembrandt and later Sioux Rapids/Rembrandt school boards. He was an avid supporter of both the Rembrandt and Sioux Rapids Fire Departments.

When he could, Ed loved to travel and go camping. He also enjoyed riding with his sons in their semi-trucks. He liked sports and watching sporting events. But it was his family that meant everything to Ed. A loving husband and devoted father, he treasured the days of watching his own children grow up. Then in his later years, he found a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His kind and caring ways will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 happy years, Bonnie, of Rembrandt; his children: Terry Movall of Storm Lake; Rich (Linda) Madsen of Rembrandt; Ron (Karla) Madsen of Rembrandt; Pat (Milly) Madsen of West Bend, Iowa; Paul (Joy) Madsen of Sioux Rapids; Mary Jo (Jim) Davis of Storm Lake; Dave (Lori) Madsen of Marathon, Iowa; Dan (Michele) Madsen of Albert City, Iowa; Sherry (Ryan) Mandernach of Newell, Iowa; and Edwin A. (Lindsey) Madsen of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Alan (Jen), Jackie (Cory), Mark (Heidi), Molly (Daniel), Becky (Darin), Jeff (Jenny), Stefanie, Brent, Samantha, Jamie, Mandy (Brett), Chris, Ashley, Stacy, Matt (Miranda), Nikki, Kevin, Kristi, Tyler, Shelby, Mickenzie, Masey, Daniele, Nickalus, Tyler, Alexis, Jeremy, Edwin John “E.J.”, and Marley; great-grandchildren: Alex, Grant, Logan, and Blake; brothers: Merle (Lorraine) Madsen of Camdenton, Missouri; Melvin (Phyllis) Madsen of Laurens, Iowa; Gerald (Marge) Madsen of Cherokee, Iowa; Clarence (Marie) Madsen of Okabena, Minnesota; Duane (Joan) Madsen of Heron Lake, Minnesota; and Robert (Sandy) Madsen of Heron Lake, Minnesota; sisters: Maxine (Lee) Launderville of Lakeside, Iowa; Jean Madsen of Lakefield, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Arleen Ivers of Schaller, Iowa and Eunice Shepard of Spirit Lake, Iowa; extended family and a host of friends.

Preceding Ed in death were his parents and one brother, Dale Madsen.

Shirley K. Maher

Shirley Maher, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Maher will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, with Father Bruce Lawler celebrating the Mass for Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a 3:30 p.m. Legion of Mary Rosary and a vigil service held at 7:00 p.m., both at the funeral home during visitation hours..

Shirley Kathryn Myers was born October 5, 1926 in Sidney, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mildred (Elliott) Myers. She attended grade school at Anderson, Iowa before graduating from Sidney High School in 1943.

On February 27, 1949, Shirley married A. Duane Maher at St. Mary’s Church in Hamburg, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children: Sandy, Dennis, Connie and Sherri.

Shirley was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and was a member there at the time of her death. She spent her life devoted to raising her four children. In her later years, she worked at Wal-Mart, where she was affectionately known to some of the smaller children as “Grandma Wal-Mart.” She was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to attend all the various school activities in which her family was involved. Her quiet, caring ways will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Sandy (George) Schmitt of Wall Lake, Iowa; Dennis (Mary) Maher of Storm Lake; Connie (James) Hoft of Lake View, Iowa; and Sherri (Don) Fitzpatrick of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Lisa (Jason) Paysen of Wall Lake; Travis (Teresa) Schmitt of Lake View; Brian (Brenda) Schmitt of Wall Lake; Amy (Jeff) Hanks of Alta, Iowa; Amanda Maher of Sioux City, Iowa; Molly (Mike) Vondrak of Galva, Iowa; Cory (Barb) Weber of Lake View; Shelly (Chad) Simm of Paullina, Iowa; Angela (Mike) Fischer of Sac City, Iowa; Sara Fitzpatrick of Ames, Iowa; Cody Fitzpatrick and Haley Fitzpatrick, both of Storm Lake; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Gilda Otte of Maryville, Missouri and Janice Myers of Sidney, Iowa; extended family and a host of friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mildred Myers; her husband, Duane Maher; her granddaughter, Holly Maher; two brothers, Robert Myers and James Myers; and her niece, Kristi Myers.

Eva Tevepaugh

Eva Ruth Tevepaugh, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tevepaugh are scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Coon Township Cemetery in Varina, Iowa. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present.

Eva was born June 13, 1917 in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of LeRoy and Alverta (Barton) Houdeshell. She was baptized into the Christian faith in the Methodist Church, where she later confirmed her faith as a youth. She received her education in the Varina Community School and graduated from Varina High School with the Class of 1935.

On November 20, 1937, Eva was united in marriage to Robert Tevepaugh in the Lake City Presbyterian Church in Lake City, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children: Duretta, Clarice, Max and Patricia.

Eva was an active, lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, most recently at the church in Storm Lake. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a very involved member of Rebekah Lodge in Storm Lake and Varina, and she held several positions in that organization. She was also a member of United Commercial Travelers of America and served as Past Grand Counselor of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Eva enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as well as reading, playing cards and doing puzzles. While she worked at Ben Franklin in Storm Lake, she was known as the “Candy Lady.” She worked at Hoffman’s Flower and Candle Shop in Storm Lake, and liked the work arranging floral displays. She and her husband, Robert, traveled throughout the United States visiting friends and family and seeing the sights. Eva’s family was always her first love and she treasured the time she spent with them. Her kind and caring ways will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Clare Sauter of Storm Lake; her son, Max Tevepaugh, of Santa Ana, California; her daughter, Pat (Terry) Ryan of Cathedral City, California; grandchildren: Ellen (Rich) Boesel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Steve (Darci) Sauter of Alta, Iowa; Jeff (Patricia) Sauter of Arnolds Park, Iowa; Brad (friend Marjie) Sauter of Milford, Iowa; Melanie (Gary) Riggs of Lincoln, Nebraska; Greg (Krystal) Sauter of Jackson, Minnesota; and Corie (Sue) Ryan of Corona, California; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Marie Wenck of Lidderdale, Iowa; Darlene Wenck of Winterset, Iowa; and Anna Jean Lake of Sac City, Iowa; brother-in-law Harold (Doretta) Tevepaugh of Lake City, Iowa; extended family and friends.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her daughter, Duretta Quail; son-in-law, Lloyd Sauter; granddaughter-in-law Lisa Sauter; two sisters: Vera Jackson and Genevieve Adams; and five brothers-in-law.
