Ruth Schnupper

Ruth Genevieve Schnupper, 87, of Mediapolis, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center.

Born June 11, 1917, in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Alfred and Meta Hollingsworth Oberman. On June 19, 1937, she married Elmer "Dee" Schnupper in Kahoka, Mo. He died May 16, 2004.

Mrs. Schnupper was a homemaker after working for several years for the Mediapolis post office and Mediapolis Savings Bank. During the war, she worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown.

She was a graduate of Yarmouth High School and attended Burlington Business College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis, Nellie Walker Kings Daughters and American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at Burlington Medical Center and enjoyed church, traveling, sewing and playing cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Twyla Hassel of Lakewood, Colo.; two grandchildren; five great–grandchildren; and two brothers, Gene Oberman and Bill Obermann, both of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.

The funeral for Mrs. Schnupper will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Mediapolis First United Methodist Church, Mediapolis Ambulance Service and Great River Hospice.

Pauline Marsden

Pauline B. Marsden, 83, of Rochester, Minn., formerly of Carthage, Ill., died shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville, Minn.

Born Sept. 5, 1923, in Carthage, she was the daughter of William and Rosie Hurt Booth. On April 4, 1948, she married Glenn E. Marsden.

Mrs. Marsden and her husband farmed in Illinois and Minnesota before retiring to California. They returned to Mendon, Ill., in 1987 and moved to Stewartville in 2003. She enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking, fishing, church and family activities.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Melinda Sargent and Ardith Pettis, both of Rochester, Minn.; six grandchildren; two great–grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Booth of Rialto, Calif., and Eldon Booth of Mendon; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two sisters and one brother.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.

The graveside service for Mrs. Marsden will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Franklin Cemetery in rural Carthage.

A memorial has been established for the Alzheimer's Unit of the North Adams County Nursing Home in Mendon.

Macken Funeral Home in Rochester handled the Minnesota arrangements.

Teresa Kenny

Teresa "Terry" Lee Kenny, 62, of Longmont, Colo., formerly of Morning Sun, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at her home.

Born Nov. 15, 1944, in Centerville, she was the daughter of Paul and Georgianna Ward Hostetter. In 1965, she married Robert Kenny.

Mrs. Kenny worked in research and design before working as a quality control manager for 22 years at Autotron in Longmont. She graduated from Southeastern Community College with her licensed practical nurse degree. She was a 1963 Morning Sun High School graduate. She moved to Colorado in 1965. She attended First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a garden consultant for the Longmont Symphony Garden Tour. She earned a hot air balloon pilot's license and enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, crafts and gardening.

Survivors include two brothers, Jim Hostetter of Morning Sun and Roger Hostetter of Berthoud, Colo.; three sisters, Linda Miller of Mediapolis, Kathy Reid of Morning Sun and Rhoda Fear of Muscatine; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Visitation with family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.

The funeral for Mrs. Kenny will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Sunshine Garden in Morning Sun, Louisa County Historical Society and Meals on Wheels in Morning Sun.

Wilma Evans

Wilma Mildred Stephens Evans, 84, of Evanston, Ill., died Friday, May 30, 2003, in Evanston.

Born April 15, 1917, in Ainsworth, she was the daughter of Samuel A. and Mildred J. Stephens. In March, 1944, she married Austin J. Evans in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. Evans was a graduate of Ainsworth High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. After graduation, she taught English and music and was the Dean of Girls in Muscatine.

She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Danville, Ill., and was active in community and church affairs. She sang in the church chancel choir. In 2002, she moved to Evanston to be close to her daughters.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Beth Brown and Susan Evans; one granddaughter; one brother, John Stephens, and several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pape Memorial Home and Gardens, Danville, Ill.

The funeral for Mrs. Evans will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Smith officiating. Burial services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Edward R. Peterson officiating.

Memorials have been established for St. James United Methodist Church in Danville and the First United Methodist Church of Mount Pleasant.

Gladys Bassett

Graveside Committal Services for Mrs. Gladys M. Bassett, 93, of El Paso, Texas, formerly of Burlington, will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Fr. Patrick Hilgendorf will officiate. Those wishing to attend the services are requested to meet at the Sunnyside Avenue entrance to the cemetery at 10:15 A.M.

Linda DeBrouse

Linda Kay Ballinger DeBrouse, 48, of Des Moines, formerly of Hamilton, Ill., died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton.

Wayne Ammons

Wayne Ammons, 94, of Hamilton, Ill., died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his home.

Born July 16, 1910, in Seymour, he was the son of Fred and Fern Miller Ammons. On Sept. 19, 1932, he married Doris Free in Unionville, Mo. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Ammons owned and operated Wayne's 66 Service Station in Wever for nearly 20 years. He was a longtime resident of Wever.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Ammons Jr. of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two daughters, Delores Van Horn of Urbandale and Patricia Suter of Hamilton; eight grandchildren and 18 great–grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son in infancy, two sisters and two brothers.

There will be no visitation.

Graveside committal services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Iconium Cemetery.

Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial has been established for Keokuk Area Home Health Care.

JAMES L. CROW

Funeral Services for Mr. James Leo Crow, 56, of Burlington who died on Saturday, August 14, 2004 are pending at Prugh Funeral Service. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

HELEN BERNHART

Funeral Services for Helen Louise Bernhart, 83, of Burlington will be held in Prugh's Chapel this morning at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Dr. Dennis Tevis will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery . A memorial has been established for the Disabled American Veterans.

James Scholer

Memorial Mass for Mr. James O. Scholer, 76, of Naples Florida, formerly of Burlington, who died Friday, September 26, 2003 in Naples Florida will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 10:30 A.M. Reverend Patrick Hilgendorf will officiate. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . The family will receive friends in Prugh's Chapel on Thursday from 8:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. A Memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.

Earl Laverne Adair

Memorial Services for Earl Laverne Adair, 87, of Burlington, who died Sunday, September 28, at the Great River Medical Center are pending at Prugh Funeral Service.

Olive White

Mass of Christian Burial for Olive Elaine White, 91, of Burlington, who died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Rosebush Gardens Health Center, will be held in St. Paul's Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Patrick Hilgendorf will officiate. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery . Friends may call at Prugh's Chapel after noon today. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. A Memorial has been established for St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry. Olive White is survived by two cousins, William B. Engelke of Sutherland, Iowa and Jane E. Cahill of Burlington, Iowa. One sister in law, Viola Plopper of Hartley, Iowa. Three nephews, Gene White of Hartley, Iowa, Wayne White of New Mexico and Arlyn White of Park City, Utah.

Vivian Boyer

Vivian Bonita Boyer, 98, of Muscatine died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Lutheran Homes.

Born July 31, 1906, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Wil–liam L. and Lillian Margaret Brown Schwarz. On June 2, 1926, she married John Olson. He died June 29, 1943. On Dec. 24, 1949, she married Gilbert Boyer. He died Dec. 24, 1986.

Mrs. Boyer worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown until her retirement at the age of 62.

When she was in her 80s, she organized a kitchen band. Her favorite pastime was making quilts, which she enjoyed giving away. Every Friday she visited the nursing home, taking residents cake and ice cream.

Survivors include one daughter, Lorraine Bras of Muscatine; three grandchildren; six great–grandchildren; six great–great–grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Schwartz and Charles Schwarz; and one sister, Frances Brown.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ralph J. Wittich–Riley–Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser St., Muscatine, Iowa 52761.

The funeral for Mrs. Boyer will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ralph J. Wittich–Riley–Freers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Sebeniecher of New Hope United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.

A memorial has been established.

S. Joanne McKeever

S. Joanne McKeever, 73, of Fort Madison, died of cancer at 2:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at her home.

Born June 23, 1931, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Lual O. Sr. and Nellie Marie Alexander Cross.

Mrs. McKeever worked in the offices of Sheaffer Pen, Breck and DuPont, retiring after 20 years.

She was a lifelong resident of Fort Madison. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Lana Boley of Fort Madison; one granddaughter; one great–grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one son.

A private family visitation is planned.

The funeral for Mrs. McKeever will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Tom Sandum officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated. A private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison at a later time.

Memorials have been established for First Baptist Church and PAWS.
