Lola Mae (Zirbel) Jenkins

Lola Mae (Zirbel) Jenkins, 72, of Clear Lake, died Friday,
June 17, 1994, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus
in Mason City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21, at the
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess
of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

A public Rebecka Lodge service was held Monday, June 20 at the
Tina Rebecka Lodge of Clear Lake.

Lola Mae (Zirbel) Jenkins was born June 1, 1922, the daughter
of Henry and Lenora (Schumaker) Bruchner in Clear Lake. She
attended and received her education in the rural Clear Lake School
system graduating from Clear Lake High School.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Zirbel on Aug. 14, 1940
in Clear Lake. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1971. After
their marriage together they farmed North of Clear Lake for 31 years
until her husband's death.

She was united in marriage to James Jenkins in October of 1972, in
Clear Lake. He preceded her in death in 1974. After his death she
moved into Clear Lake were she was a resident until her death.

She enjoyed puzzle books, watching game shows, latch hook, playing
cards and having coffee with friends. Her great love and enjoyment
was being a devoted wife, mother and spending time with grandchildren.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and
the Tina Rebecka Lodge, all of Clear Lake.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Zirbel and his wife, Sandy,
Mason City, and Charles Zirbel and his wife, Teri, of Ankeny,
Iowa; on brother, Carl Bruchner and his wife, Ella of Kiawatha,
Iowa; one sister, Martha Phipps and her husband, Homer "Bud" Phipps,
Mason City; five grandchildren, Brent, Chad and Jason Zirbel,
Christina Omasta and Jermey Bayse; two great-grandchildren; and
a special friend, Sam Arnold, Clear Lake; as well as many relatives
and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands,
Raymond Zirbel and James Jenkins; and one brother,
Arlyn (Buss) Bruchner.

Leone Alberta White

Leone Alberta White, 89, died Jan. 18, 1994, at the Oakwood Care Center,
Clear Lake.

A "Celebration of her Life" memorial service will be held at
The Meadows, 625 14th Ave. N., Clear Lake, on Friday, July 1,
at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Murley Severtson officiating. She was cremated.
A memorial fund has been established in Leone White's name for
the renovation of the Clear Lake Band Shell.

She was born Aug. 17, 1904, in Denison, Kan., the daughter of
John Lunda Bales and Ivy Pearl (Hawn) Bales. She was raised on
her parents farm where she learned to play the piano and organ
and singing, which was a daily activity. She graduated from
high school in Topeka, Kan.

Leone married Richard Edward White in Topeka, and raised two
daughters in Sioux City, Iowa. They became members of the
First Congregational Church. She was active being a circle leader,
on committees, and board member. She transferred her membership
to Clear Lake in 1950. Leone was instrumental in the purchase
of two pianos for the church. In later years she joined
Zion Lutheran Church.

She donated her electric organ to the Clear Lake Senior Citizens.
Leone and her husband owned and operated the "Shrimp Castle"
restaurant in Clear Lake ... daughter, Donna Lee Akerberg, Clear Lake
for seven years. The location is now known as the Back Yard Deli.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Lee Akerberg, C....[?]

Bernice L. Carrington

Bernice L. Carrington, 74, died Thursday, June 16, 1994,
at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 20, at St. Marys
Catholic Church, in Storm Lake, with the Father Mark J. Stoll officiating.
Interment was at St. Marys Cemetery, Storm Lake.

Bernice Carrington was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Rembrandt,
Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (Siefken) Rausch. The family
moved to Storm Lake when Bernice was in fifth grade. She attended
and graduated from the Storm Lake High School in 1938.

She taught school for one year and then moved to Chicago during the
war years where she worked for Bell and Howell. On Aug. 22, 1945 she
married Clyde F. Carrington at Storm Lake. The couple lived there
for many years. She was a homemaker.

She was a Catholic Daughter, DAV Auxiliary, and St. Marys
Guild. She enjoyed raising flowers, walking and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde Carrington, Storm Lake;
two daughters, Cathy Carrington, Clear Lake, and Connie Bird and her
husband, Bob, Clear Lake; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren;
one brother, Wesley Rausch and his wife, Wilmet, Storm Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother;
and an infant sister.

Honorary pallbearers were Harry Dickerson, Elmer Jones, Al Tillman,
Virgil Siefkes, Ray Davis, Mark Glidden.

Pallbearers were Travis Glidden, Matt Glidden, Ted Wall,
Kevin Wall, Curtis Moritz, Ron Fritz.

John C. Nichols, Sr.

John C. Nichols, Sr., 86, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, June 22,
1994, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, at the Ward Van
Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

John Nichols was born Aug. 15, 1907, in rural Clear Lake,
the son of Charles L. and Alice M. (Hayward) Nichols. On Nov. 24,
1927, he married Mae J. Odom in Swaledale. He attended rural Clear
Lake Schools.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25, at the Ward-ndfor
several area farmers. He then worked for the MacNider family at their
Indian Head Farms for six years. He farmed in the Clear Lake area
for several years. John worked at the All Vets Golf Course as a caretaker
and greenskeeper. For over 35 years he

He is survived by his wife, Mae Nichols, Clear Lake; two
sons, John Nichols Jr., and his wife, Edith, Clear Lake, and
Don Nichols and his wife, Dorothy, Clear Lake; one sister,
Marjorie Caffrey, Clear Lake; seven grandchildren,
Michael, Kathryn, Deborah, Linda, Sandra, Kenneth and Arnie; nine
great-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law,
Irene Nichols, Clear Lake, Peggy Odom, Mason City, and Flo Bonner,
Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two
sisters; and one daughter, Dorothy.

He worked as a custom corn sheller, retiring in 1987.

Mr. Nichols enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He was a
member of the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake and the I.O.O.F.
Lodge #187, Clear Lake.

Harold Albert Klatt

Harold Albert Klatt, 76, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, June 29, 1994,
at North Iowa Mercy Health Care Center, east in Mason City.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2, at Zion Lutheran Church
in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial was in the
Clear Lake Cemetery with military graveside honors by the
San Juan Marne VFW Post #733 in Mason City. The Ward-Van Slyke
Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Harold Albert Klatt was born Sept. 14, 1917, the son of
Julius and Bertha (Streich) Klatt in New Hampton, Iowa. He
attended and received his education in the New Hampton Schools.
After completing his schooling he helped his family in the family
Bakery Shop in Fredricksburg, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Elaine Marie Kluss on
Sept. 21, 1940 in Castalia, Iowa. After their marriage he was
inducted in the U.S. Navy serving in the "Seabeas" overseas
during World War II in the New Heberdies Islands in the Pacific.

After his honorable discharge he moved to Cresco, Iowa, where he
worked at the Farm Implement Company until 1954, when he moved
to Clear Lake, working as a sales representative for
Geihl Implement from 1952 to 1958 and for Heimbuch Implement from
1958 until 1969. He also worked as a branch manager for the
Lindsey Brothers in Mason City from 1969 until his retirement
in 1986. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1987.

Harold was a very artistic person and did several murals of
famous people which won blue ribbons at state and county....

Pallbearers were Marion Warren, Carl Husling Jr., Gordon Klatt,
Ray Houdek, Richard Handke, Tim Petsche.

Orville Harold Brattrud

Orville Harold Brattrud, 76, of Clear Lake, formerly of Hanlontown,
died Friday, July 1, 1994, at the Americana Health Care Center in
Mason City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 5, at the
Grace Lutheran Church in Hanlontown with the Rev. Linda Johnson
officiating. Burial was in the Brush Post Cemetery, rural Hanlontown.

Orville Harold Brattrud, was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Hanlontown,
the son of George Albert and Agnes Karoline (Overbye) Brattrud.
He attended and received his education in the rural Worth County
School System. After his schooling he helped on the family farm
for several years. Orville entered into the Oakwood Care Center
in Clear Lake in 1987 and had been a resident of the
Americana Health Care Center since April of 1990.

He enjoyed baseball, music and animals. He was a member of
Grace Lutheran Church, Hanlontown.

He is survived by one sister, Florence Kallheim and her husband,
Johnny, of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; two brothers, Kermeth Brattrud of
Hanlontown, and Gaylord Brattrud and his wife, Shirley,
Clear Lake; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives
and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother,
Lawrence Brattrud; and a sister-in-law, Laryn Brattrud ...
